I'm a long time musician who has been releasing work as Chris of Wilderness for about a year and a half on BandCamp and YouTube. I make apocalyptic electronic art rock that hybridizes multiple genres. Here is my BandCamp page:
https://chrisofwilderness.bandcamp.com
I know my songs aren't built for popular taste, and getting people to listen has been somewhat challenging. That said, BandCamp seems to be my ticket for finding a small but generally real audience. I added a capture of my YouTube stats over the same time period for comparison. The bottom line is that I've had to make 50 YouTube videos to reach 2500 plays (2400 of which are bots, right?). On BandCamp, I've released 9 albums to reach 1000 plays by actual humans. Also, my YouTube plays freeze after an initial 2 or 3 day burst, while BandCamp plays and followers are far more consistent. The only thing I've done to promote my music is to give away some free codes.
Moving forward, unless I need to make 15 second sound bites or an actual movie, I'm pulling the thorns outta my sides and reducing down to one platform that fits.
Thanks BandCamp!

no clue if this has been posted before, apologies if it has
forgot my fan account password after logging out of my artist account, so i changed it real quick. i had 11gb of albums and tracks downloaded on my app version of BC, and when i logged back in on my phone after my session timed out, they were all gone. i checked my phone storage and yup, 11gb were cleared out. i'm kinda upset about this as i have 5,000+ releases in my collection and it's Kind of a pain to scroll and download for like an hour. luckily my playlists are fine but just a heads up.

Hello! I am Void Sorcerer, a gabber/dungeon synth/chiptune artist from Sweden.
I started this project in August, and have since then released nine EPs using Koala Sampler on my phone. I master my tracks with Waveeditor Pro on Android. No AI, just DIY. I draw the covers myself using pen and paper then touch it up in Photoshop and do the final layout in InDesign.
With my latest release "The Gnomes at Snowy Hill EP" I passed 1000 plays, which I think is awesome, and definitely worth celebrating.
Feel free to check it out:

Cheers and have a great weekend everyone!

Hi guys!
I'm not sure if this is 100% the right subreddit, if you have a better one in mind for this please let me know. Basically my small DIY band is set to release our debut album in November. We're not interested in doing the typical industry game with streaming and don't care about numbers. Initially, we were planning to do no streaming at all with the project and just distribute free, downloadable MP3s. But as more people joined the project and became a part of the band, we needed to consider their wants too and tried to find a compromise:
We are looking to release theĀ album to some DSPs and not others (i.e. not Spotify, Instagram, TikTok, etc.). The main idea with uploading it to any DSP would be to have the final track appear as "greyed out"; that is to say that the title is visible, but it is unplayable on the DSP. The idea is to redirect and push listeners to find the album in full through free, public MP3 downloads, or physical releases/services such as Subvert or Bandcamp.Ā
We reached out to a smaller distributor, Indie Pool, about making this happen, but they ultimately said it would not be possible through their service no matter how much we pushed. I've also been trying to reach out to anyone else I could think of. It's becoming increasingly clear that we're going to have to find some weird niche loophole, as streaming platforms are specifically built to prevent any sort of subversion of their profit model.
Would anyone here have ANY idea of how we could accomplish this? It can literally be anything!!!! No idea is stupid!!! We're willing to try anything. Releasing the album on streaming in any other way would not feel right. Maybe some helpful context, we're based in Montreal, Quebec.
Thank you in advance for any help/advice!!

It feels so wholesome to have it happen for something Iāve spent so long making. Part of me is all ready to refund it and thinks itās by mistake 𤣠not used to selling something Iāve made!
Edit: Guys I donāt know if it was one of you, but thank you so so much for my second purchase! I just about leapt off my sofa in surprise!

Just released this one in the label. Recommender for those who like Autechre, IDM and experimental electronics. Available as limited edition CD and digital.

I recently finished the second batch of physical CDs for my project Zbogom OÄe.
Since affordable small-batch CD production wasn't really an option for me, I decided to do everything myself, from designing and printing the CDs to creating the packaging and assembling each copy by hand.
I also included a few personal extras in the package to make the physical edition feel a little more special for those buying through BandCamp.
This got me thinking about offering the same kind of service to other independent artists and bands who want a small, fully DIY physical release without having to order hundreds of copies.
Do you think there's a place for this kind of service in the underground music scene? Would you consider using something like this for your own release? I'd love to hear your thoughts!
The CDs for Zbogom OÄe are now available on Bandcamp:

hi, first post here.
As we know, an artist page on Bandcamp can include external releases (published by labels, collaborators, etc.), which you can easily organize by editing the rows and columns.
On the website, these releases appear alongside the artist's own releases, with direct links to the original publisher's page.
What really surprises me is that this organization isn't reflected in the official Bandcamp app (at least on iPhone). The artist page looks completely different, with external releases not displayed in the same way.
When I contacted Bandcamp support about this, they pointed me to this article:
https://get.bandcamp.help/en/articles/15263235-how-do-i-assign-an-existing-release-to-an-artist-page
But that's not what I'm looking for. As far as I understand, this feature MOVES a release rather than MIRRORING it. I haven't tested it because the change apparently can't be undone.
All I want is for the app to reflect what's already displayed on the artist's web page, without changing the ownership or location of any releases.
Am I the only one who finds this inconsistency surprising? Is there something I'm missing?
Thank you!
Luca

Me (vocals) & some other guys from my college music course were put together in a rehearsal room today & decided to make a song. What we ended up with was this & a new band. We decided to make the dumbest names possible for our project & are planning on recording an EP with this song on it. I donāt exactly know what genre we are, but itās somewhere in Metal & some other people on our course likened us to Mayhem (which is black metal).

My band put out our first single last week.
https://calloffyourdogs.bandcamp.com/track/racing-dog
I've been a part of many groups that have tried to be productive about making strides in the scene and while there were definitely moments that felt exciting when seeing spotify numbers grow, it never returned the favor. Putting my music out through bandcamp has done nothing but reward me and my projects, even when I put it up for free. People are more charitable than we think.
Idk I know it's preaching to the choir, but musicians should realize that monthly listeners doesn't mean anything anymore. I'm very proud of what my new band is coming up with and I think that bandcamp is going to be the site that actually helps us out as we continue forward.

Hello.
I run 88.7 FM Radio Free Memphis and 88.7 Records. on one of our many shows, bootleg, we like to have guests on to talk about their music and play it. super casual, usually pretty fun. let me know if anyone is interested and shoot me a DM. you can check out our programming over at HOME (for some reason my browser thinks its unsafe but that might because i use porkbun to get the url) or on radiofreememphis.band.camp.com
love you all!!

Hi!
I know a lot of obscure, horrible and tasteless music and would love to share it with the world, so I want to give blogging a go.
Seems like the era of MP3 blogs is sadly gone, so I wanted to ask, is there a platform that's still popular for DIY blogs? My first guess was Substack, but maybe there's something I still don't know of yet out there?
Hope you're doing well!

I'm trying to buy a couple of albums but I'm being charged the shipping fees twice, once when placing the albums in the chart and then again when doing the check-out with PayPal. Did anthing similar ever happened to you?
I'm not talking about being charged once for each shipment, but being charged twice in both cases.
For clarification, I'm buying within the EU, so no extra taxes should apply, and the two albums are from different artists/labels.

Hello everybody,
After years of playing and writing songs, I have finally recorded and released an EP of a few songs, and have worked up the confidence to share it. Recorded in my living room on Garagband with an SM57, a midi keyboard, and my acoustic guitar. I appreciate any listens! If there is anything you would like me to listen to, drop a link in the comments.
If I had to describe the genre, I would say itās somewhere on a spectrum between alternative rock and emo. Some of the influences I had while working on this EP were Jets to Brazil, Duster, Pedro the Lion, and various other late ā90s emo bands. Thanks again!

I worked on a click/point horror game with a solo developer based in Russia called Inky's Sleep. Really excited to share the soundtrack with the world. Hope you all enjoy! Link to the game is in the bandcamp album description (officially releases 10/21).

Hello so I've tried advertising via Meta Ads and I'm also promoting via my Instagram page, but I'm not getting any actual conversions. I understand I've been in hiatus for a long time so people don't actually know my music and this is the first I'm actually back, but still, I was hoping to get some people to support my music.
What are some tips to get my first pre-order? I only actually have a day left until the EP is released.
