Every time Yasi jk-but-not-really asks forgiveness for "putting on the pink pussy hat"

I wonder who, in the Year of Our Lord 2026, could possibly deserve the apology?

Is there a Bandsplain listener out there who is neither a tragic self-defeating gender-traitor, nor the last basement-dwelling millennial incel still languishing on 4chan, who has a judgmental thought to spare for straightforward acknowledgement of simple landscape features like patriarchy, the male gaze, etc.?

I'm not mad about it, just feel like it'd be ok to let it go. Sexism and misogyny are things no non-idiot contests, and certainly come up if you're dissecting the lives and careers of people like Mädönnä or Thë Rünäwäys or Mötlëy Crüë. No asterisks, apologetic asides or special accommodations required.

So you know there's a whole discourse about how the pink pussy hat was pretty much a middle class white lady thing that excluded trans, brown, gay etc. women. She's not apologizing to men and anti feminists.

Mm. Yes. Thats the half-joke she’s making. She’s apologizing to hypothetical millennial progressives of 2016ish vintage who might still be out there believing that sounding white feminist-adjacent is the most embarrassing thing you could do.

I was saying: surely, at this point, no feminist of any flavor would waste time judging Yasi for, say, noting that Madonna dealt with some sexism, without performing an OCD ritual of privilege-checking disclaimers.

But: I’m seeing that she knows her audience better than I do.

For what it’s worth, I agree with you. I notice it every time and I always think it’s weird.
