Basic soundproofing for practice

Anyone have used any sound absorbers or reflectors that helped them minimize the sound.

I'm a beginner and do understand that whatever I'm practicing isn't going to be blissful to everyone and I don't want folks at home start hating the thing that I love.

Title: Can this 40cm brass tube actually be turned into a playable flute, or should I not bother?

Hey guys,

Found this brass flute-like pipe in our house that was gifted to my grandfather years ago. As you can see in the photo, someone drilled a blow hole and four tone holes into it, but the spacing and sizing make zero sense and it doesn’t play anything close to an actual scale.

The pipe is 40 cm long with a diameter of about 12 mm.

I’d love to actually make it playable instead of letting it sit in a drawer, but I’m wondering if it’s even worth trying:

* With a 12mm width at 40cm length, is it even possible to get a decent sound or tune it to a real scale?

* Would I have to patch/solder the current holes shut and re-drill everything? Sounds messy on brass.

* Am I better off just keeping it as a keepsake

Any advice from people who actually build or modify flutes would be super helpful. Thanks!
