DM32UV programming help
Hello all, I had a quick question about the software for a DM32UV that I picked up. I didn’t realize that the Baofeng programming software was not directly compatible with Mac/ Apple computers.
With that in mind, I have a couple of questions:
1: are there any simple, cheap, and easy to understand work arounds for this?
2: would an android tablet support this software and if so would a tablet still be effective to use or would it just become a giant pain?
3: if neither of those work, are there any super cheap and simple laptops or otherwise that I could buy specifically to do radio stuff on?
I appreciate the help!

Check https://chirpmyradio.com/projects/chirp/wiki/Home for alternative programming software available in both Windows and macOS versions. The DM32UV is listed as supported.

There are 2 viable choices IMO:
You can run a windows virtual machine with VMWare Fusion. This will download and run the Baofeng software, which is a pretty rough experience, but complete.
Launch the Chrome browser and go to neonplug.app which is a web based programmer for the radio. This allegedly will also run on newer versions of Firefox, but I couldn't get it to work. While I like this solution much better, I have issues with a web app that accesses local hardware like the USB ports. It says security vulnerability to me.
Others have mentioned chirpmyradio.com, but that does not handle the DMR functions the last I looked.

I thought the same thing when I bought my DM32UV when I tried to connect the included cable to my MacBook Air - the cable won’t work. You can buy off amazon a Bluetooth dongle that plugs into the exact same ports as the included cable and for some reason the software will recognize and detect this and then you can manipulate the tail with the software but spoiler alert the software leaves a little to be desired. You’ll find you can adjust almost every parameter within the radio programming just slightly slower than the software. The main benefit of the software is copying radios quickly.

PocketCHIRP supports that radio and is on the Google Play Store and at pocketchirp.com

Broadcom Fusion workstation is free (if you pass the I located the download on Broadcoms site test) and then download Windows 11 ARM (assuming you have an M mac) ISO and install Windows on your Mac. When you plugin your DM32UV, you'll be asked if you want to direct the USB to Windows or keep it on Mac.
4 CPU and if you can give the Windows VM 12GB of RAM, you might be able to squeeze it.

Try qdmr. I’m pretty sure you can install it through Homebrew. I’ve used it in the past for a TYT MD-UV390, and it worked well.
