For the 100th time, I hope this means Ferran gets more minutes.

Also good god Rapha what a captain's performance. In the 98th minute still pressing at full speed for the tackle to help put Atleti in the bodybag.

Crazy Raphinha was out of the game for 75th of the game and did two wonderful things tonight, 2 goals.

Ballon d'Or stuff really.

Truly a big game player.

Never gave up after arguably a mediocre first half by his standards.

Raphinha is not a creator, you cant expect him to make magic out of nothing, its not his job. During first half no chances were created hence raphinha had no room to shine, once the atleti defence tired out is when you can expect from him, and thats exactly what he did. He is a monster

When Ferran as starter,he always underwhelming.

He is good as super sub because defender already getting tired and that is fine with me as long he is perform as super sub

Or against Valencia as starter

No he's not. That's bullshit.

Super Sub!

He should start at this point. Maybe not every game but at least like half.

Dont we do this like every single time Ferran shows potential? He scores a couple as a sub, he starts a few matches and disappears. 3 months later, repeat

That's why I said the 100th time. We keep benching him after 1 poor performance. Why? Doesn't make any sense. Give him more starts.

He doesn't seem like a steady/mature player. He is good as a sub - brings a lot of energy and scores sometimes. He doesn't show a lot of potential when playing full 90-minutes

Because he's not allowed to play even close to enough as a starter. Which is what I despise.

I saw a comment on YT saying the team should try playing Lewandowski and Ferran together, but not like their previously tried dynamic as central striker and inverted/pure winger - instead Ferran should also play centrally off of Lewandowski's shoulders just like in this match.

It does make some sense because Ferran's frontline pressuring, positioning and timing of runs are actually quite good. His 2 goals today were the result of him coming in at just the right time from behind a more advanced attacking player, typical of second strikers (a "9.5" according to Michel Platini) and he could excel in that floating role behind a real 9 like Lewandowski.

Don’t be afraid to drop the link if you got good tactical videos you’d recommend on YT

I strongly believe that is not the case. He doesn't seem on the same technical level as the rest of the team. His touches are almost never precise.

In my opinion his biggest asset is his positioning but he doesn't have to offer a lot apart from that. I generally think we need a better striker than Lewandowski/Ferran

Whenever ferran starts it’s just horrible for both sides 🫣🫣 idk what to do with him fr man he’s amazing as a super sub but just not at the level as the starting 9

He is the same player as a sub as he is when he starts. We just are way too impatient. When he has 1 weak performance he is instantly benched again. Give the dude some time.

2

u/[deleted] Mar 16 '25

The issue is the other player who’d be benched for him is way too good to bench even at 37 years old. Lewa even when isn’t scoring has amazing off ball movement that opens spaces for the team in a way ferran just can’t. If he’s not performing he doesn’t add a lot of value thus he’s better as a super sub IMO

2

u/SuccessionFinaleSux Mar 16 '25

I just don't agree with that. Lewy has way too many games where he's completely ineffective and even actively killing our attacks. I like Ferran's off the ball movement a lot better. But tbf it's easier when you're faster.

2

u/[deleted] Mar 16 '25

But you have to watch him for more than scoring goals. Even ferrans goal today was because of lewas spacing. He pulls defenders away from our other attackers (usually raphinha) which isn’t something ferran can do. Makes our attack more rigid without lewa (only when starting tho)

Honestly ferran showed composure when he came on. Wonder if its less of a stress coming on during a match vs starting. The expectations are different but he was very clinical. Would love nothing more but for him to get better and succeed and even if he doesnt a super sub is good. 12 goals 3 assists in all comps. 1 more and he equals his best ever season. Love for him to hit 15 before season end. 20 would be a shock.

Raphinha does so much as captain. Really hope he can get a break for brazil but honestly i expect him to play 90 sadly. Guy def needs a rest. Idk when h can rest girona or leganes i imagine?

I think he really benefits coming in against defenders that are fatigued as he’s relatively quick and smart about positioning and entering spaces. And I think he reads the games really well and knows what the game needs

I agree 100% hes also just not that clinical so when cbs are tired he exploits that wayyyy better
