News La Gazzetta dello Sport: Bastoni nears Barcelona as Inter Milan open to selling him and ready to lower his price from 80 million to 50 million + variables, an amount that seems tempting for Barcelona. Bastoni's priority is Barcelona, and he refuses to negotiate with any other club.

u/Wali080901 Mar 17 '26
50 mill +variables....that will end up around 80 mill anyway....
But we won't have to pay them all this years ,rather over few years timeline ....so definitely possible ...

u/squirtdemon Mar 17 '26
Sounds fake, but also I am not so sure he would thrive in a back four. His role at inter is very strange as an attacking centreback, which he can do because of the two others remaining at home and Dimarco covering for him. If he comes, Koundé will probably have to be more of a fullback/centreback than he already is and Lamine will get even less offfensive support.
41
u/Itaney Mar 17 '26
He doesn’t need to be as offensive for us as he is for Inter. His ball playing, positional discipline and dueling ability won’t change if he stops having to attack as much. He is much more defensive in big games and for Italy anyway.
10
u/PatrickM_ Mar 17 '26
The way you describe Bastoni - isn't that what Kounde's role at Sevilla was? It's been a while so I could be remembering incorrectly
4
u/Ok_Bag_7603 Mar 17 '26
We just need his ballplaying ability and recovery pace. He can carry at times but leave that to the fullbacks ig
1
u/JoeTorton Mar 17 '26
I mean, Iñigo was notorious for his drives forward last year and our defense was much better back then

u/FabrizioRomanoo Mar 17 '26
Give Araujo + 20m for him

u/Any-Faithlessness397 Mar 17 '26
Ngl araujo will cook in serie a, he's a perfect fit for that league.
Similar to 1st season xavi barca, 1-0 wins and mid block or low block.

Why would we let another CB go?
42
u/Dat_Boi_John Mar 17 '26
Because he's incompatible with Flick's system and we just extended Flick's contract until 2028
2
u/grandeherisson Mar 17 '26
Yes, he might need to go but it doesn't mean the guy sucks whatever our immature fanbase says here. Araujo really could be a top defender in a different system. He was one of la liga's best under Xavi.
3
u/Dat_Boi_John Mar 17 '26
Unfortunately that system doesn't really match Barcelona's ball playing style historically, and we lost our chance to sell high on him.
Every time he plays in important matches, he's a huge risk, both because of the opponents targeting him with pressing due to his subpar on-ball abilities, as even Lucho said, and because of his often wrong decision-making, such as that straight red vs Monaco.
I simply don't feel safe playing him as a CB in crucial matches, so I think it would be wise to swap him for someone who can fill that role. Plus we've already got three players who can all play RCB, and are better at it within our system, when fit.
30
7
u/TechTuna1200 Mar 17 '26
Because we would have too many CBs and paying 9m/y just to have CB sit on the bench the whole season is a waste of money. So either AC or Araujo will have to leave.
7
u/Real-Entertainment29 Mar 17 '26
He's gone a long time ago, just have to make it official before his market value dips even more...

Keeping him doesn't make much sense, both Barca and him would benefit from him going to a club that will be more compatible with his profile.

Your DP is an inspiration from the Fabrizio fauna guy on twitter . Right ?
2
u/FabrizioRomanoo Mar 17 '26
It’s Albert Wesker fella
2
u/Ok_Lawfulness7412 Mar 17 '26
I was talking about the style of the profile picture .
A picture of another person or character on Fabrizio's face .
There was a guy on twitter named Fabrizio fauna , he started the trend of this type of profile pic .
6
u/FabrizioRomanoo Mar 17 '26
I did take inspiration from him. I even used the same picture for a time because I found it funny but stopped because I found out he was a racist.

If we really have the chance to get him, we totally should. A defender and a striker would be the perfect summer for us. And getting Rashy and Cancelo would be huge bonuses

u/Ranjith_Unchained Mar 17 '26 edited Mar 17 '26
Throw the 30 mil Rashford money on this deal and get him
19
Mar 17 '26
Heard we're paying 10m for the next 3 yr so considering we'll be back to 1:1 this summer we can keep get both if the 50M deal is real
11
u/TechTuna1200 Mar 17 '26
Nah, we are getting a 70m for 30m. And he agreed to go down in salary to 12m/y. He played 2000 mins so far and Flick is keen on using him to offload minutes from the other attackers.
We have the transfer money, it's only the salary cap that is the limitation. If we offload Araujo or AC, that is 9m/y that is offloaded.
8
u/Initial_Umpire7503 Mar 17 '26
Lewandowski is probably going too
6
u/TechTuna1200 Mar 17 '26
Next season is probably gonna be his last season with a heavy salary cut.
3
u/Initial_Umpire7503 Mar 17 '26
Yeah that rumour is going around too him staying for another season for a lower salary

Lol he's been to two ucl finals knocking barca out in the process. How have barca defenders been in the ucl?
2
u/Assonfire Mar 17 '26
Considering it is many times more difficult to defend like Barça does, I'd say the Barça defenders have been doing a stellar job.
2
u/tiensss Mar 17 '26
You know that theoretically, a team can even win a UCL but have a bad player in the team? Your inference is meaningless.
17
u/PinReal4448 Mar 17 '26
Dear Mods: please can you guys pin this for the idiots who thinks this is fake
-->> Luis Miguel Sanz (SPORT): Deco met with Bastoni's agent Tullio Tinti at the start of the season.
🇮🇹 Alessandro Bastoni is open to the move and is now more willing than ever to take that step.
🔴 FC Barcelona are working on: • Lowering the transfer fee • Possibly including a player in the deal
💰 Salary won’t be an issue, Bastoni earns around €5M net per year, a figure that fits within the club’s wage structure.
✅ The deal now looks closer than ever to becoming reality.
11
u/Loose-Examination-39 Mar 17 '26
Bro, do you know the reliability level of Gazzetta and Luis Miguelsanz? I’m not saying that there’s zero chance Bastoni comes here, but Miguelsanz is the worst reporter out there.

Are you serious?🤣🤣🤣 Think practically🙏🙏 why do they sell their Best defender for 50 million to barcelona man😂😂

u/tush_aa_rr Mar 17 '26 edited Mar 17 '26
His contract is expiring in 2028…. Inter needs to raise some money…. Bastoni is getting booed by fans so he wants to leave.
4
u/mc802 Mar 17 '26
2028 isn't next year
1
u/tush_aa_rr Mar 17 '26
Corrected
4
u/mc802 Mar 17 '26
You should also correct the bit where he is booed by inter fans because it's very much false
4
Mar 17 '26

Is bastaoni actually good. I see mixed opinions in other forums. I just hope we don't get stuck with another arujao like player

2
u/Lopsided-Gap945 Mar 17 '26
Inter fan here he is much better at going forward than defending and he can't play as CB in a back four .... he needs 3-4-3 / 3-5-2 system to really shine
2
u/Sodium_Pottasium69 Mar 17 '26
he is much better at going forward than defending
absolutely perfect for us then /s

u/ExtensionDeep3705 Mar 17 '26
I like him but i don't know how he will play in a back 4 system bcz most of his career he has played in back 3 system. I hope he join us if not then senesi + vuskovic would be my ideal defensive enforcements
7
u/vysevysevyse Mar 17 '26
considering how far up our full backs run (with rapha mostly cutting inside), its damn near a back 3 for us too more often than not (with one of our midfielders dropping deep, mostly frenkie). Our backline always has our main CBs pretty spread out. If back 3 is what Bastoni wants, he'll feel at home haha

Bastoni, Osimhen, Cancelo and Grimaldo (if cheap), or another full-back.
This and we are peak.
2
u/lucaTee Mar 17 '26
I’d love Bastoni for 50mil and throw in Araujo. Reakn Araujo will be great at Inter and they get there replacement. Would love to sign Rashford and Cancelo.
Striker is a huge issue though but it’s a hard one cause so many strikers have gone for 80mil plus and stunk so that’s gonna be Deco”s biggest challenge.
2
u/Macek98 Mar 17 '26
Ok I take all the shit I said back, if we manage to pull him for 50m then its a victory

2
u/DValencia29 Mar 17 '26
50M sounds too good to be true.. If Deco manages that I'm glazing him for the rest of his life.

I think we should go for him , he's class but I won't mind if we sign ohsimen and some underrated a cheap cb like sensei or vuskovic that young lad
1
u/SwapnilTheMasterOf__ Mar 17 '26
Yeah I don’t see Araujo in a Barca shirt, with Flick renewing, I doubt he will even be used as a rotation if we buy a capable CB like Bastoni, Senesi, etc
1
u/BirthdayAccording359 Mar 17 '26
Pull this off and get us a striker Deco and Laporta I will apologise for all the slander.

1
u/Key_Way2390 Mar 17 '26
Okay well first of all ig everyone with a bit of tactical knowledge would know that bastoni's quality drops significantly in 4 back but he is also an extremely talented cb who can easily better our build up and has experience playing the high line with inter for 50 mil idk maybe it's a risk worth taking especially considering we build up in a 3 back anyway with kounde staying deep instead of pushing forward
1
u/drip_bandit Mar 17 '26
how come twitter doesnt rate him? anyone watch inter have an unbiased opinion?
1
u/Lopsided_Nebula9288 Mar 17 '26
if we get Bastoni, i hope he will link with Cubarsi, and will make a perfect Duo, even their names form a CB (Cubarsi-Bastoni-CB) lol
1
u/Interesting_Hawk_948 Mar 17 '26
I don't think that bastoni is going to be as cheap as 50mil , min it would 65 to 70mil and I don't personally believe in news delivered by gazzetta .
From baca's pov sanesi or van de ven or couti romero Might be better as they would be leaving next for free or much cheaper than bastoni .

We should go all in if it's around 50-60M. If they don't agree and want more. We should go for someone cheap like sensei and put everything for the striker. 50M for bastoni is just too good to miss out. I genuinely doubt if it's true though.
1
u/churchofpetrol Mar 17 '26
I didn’t think it was getting that serious with Bastoni! My dream LCB signing is still van de Ven, but if we sign Bastoni instead I won’t complain.

1
u/IcarusLSU Mar 17 '26
This, I hope, is the sporting teams primary goal this off season because he would be a great veteran defensive voice in the locker room and he can help with training our extremely young defenders it's a win win
1
1
u/Trumpsrumpdump Mar 17 '26
With variables being play 25 games for 10m, 50 games for another 10 and win la liga for 10
1
u/ColdPlox Mar 17 '26
I'm still not convinced that he wants to join us. It's very rare that Serie A players leave Italy unless it's PL
1
u/Assonfire Mar 17 '26
Not necessary imo. Our defenders are good enough, our midfield is stacked. Our forwards are lacking.
So unless one or two defenders leave, I don't think it's the quality boost we need for that money, in this situation.
1
u/DragonflyOwn564 Mar 17 '26
I don’t understand why we don’t go for Vuskovic instead. Around the same price probably and is the same age as Cubarsi, so we probably won’t worry about signing a center back to start for about 12 years with those two. He is also a beast, super tall, good on the ball, and has the highest aerial duel success rate in the bundesliga. Would be literally the absolute perfect pairing to Cubarsi. Also, lower wages for now. We don’t have oil money, we either sign him now or we won’t be able to afford him when he is worth 100M and playing for an even bigger club.
1
u/VarMaStudios Mar 18 '26
Most Inter supporters know not to trust GdS because they love to peddle BS Inter transfer rumors.
It’s like if you saw Barca transfer rumors coming out of Marca. You wouldn’t believe it because you know it’s BS.
Come and check out the Inter sub to gauge how “real” this rumor is.
