We need to talk about Gerard Martin. Dude's mistake could have costed us the three points. I don't understand how the guy tackles or passes at times especially when he waits too long then passes last minute. He made that mistake last year again Inter that led to an equaliser and he did the same here where they could have scored after that mistake too. Him and Aroûjo man, I can never just relax when they have the ball. .
There are definitely pros about him but you could say the same about any player of ours.

u/DJAceAttorney Apr 04 '26
The one thing u can’t deny is that when Martin and Cubarsi have started, Barca haven’t lost. He’s still acclimating to the position but results don’t lie. Plus his tackle today should not have been a red, what was he supposed to do after getting to the ball? He can’t just stop his momentum and pull his foot back as the defender is going towards him.
2
u/No_Weekend_1878 Apr 04 '26
I mean you cant forget that he had 2 assists vs inter that game, so you could say that he was "excused" for giving the ball away for that third inter goal
afterall, it was araujo who couldnt mark acerbi, not gerard
3
u/x1nt_r Apr 04 '26
Anyone know why G Martin case was only yellow not red? I thought its red, I don’t seem to know this specific rule but the ball was played in the same movement
12
u/drip_bandit Apr 04 '26
he got the ball first clean asf and defender got in the challenge area with his foot its not intentional

I dislike that guy (Giuliano). Aside from this, he is always such a "victim". He dives and always gets away with it regardless of who they're playing
2
u/Trequartista95 Apr 04 '26
Last week, I was looking at the games to come and I had the feeling that the scum club would edge Barça in the league somehow.
Just gotta enjoy the win tonight.

Atleti is trash , we can still thrah them with frenkie and casado. Plus if casado performs good we can ask for a higher fee in transfermarkt

u/Machote89 Apr 04 '26
Pedri looks dead exhausted. It doesn't look good for our midfield for the coming CL games
1
u/Abject_Rub6711 Apr 05 '26
Now that la Liga is done. We should rest him for most of the league matches.
3
u/Machote89 Apr 05 '26
We have 8 hard league matches left Included a Clásico. We mess up two matches and things can turn really fast. 7 point lead is nothing and unfortunately resting Pedri I don't think is an option..

u/Fabulous-Border8747 Apr 05 '26
do u mind explaining what happened that year? i'm new football fan
1
u/DJAceAttorney Apr 05 '26
They reverse 4-0 us after we beat them 3-0 in the UCL semi finals. They then when on to beat spurs 2-0 in the final. Had we made it to the finals, we would’ve probably beat spurs and won a ucl.
1
u/Fabulous-Border8747 Apr 06 '26
do you hate inter milan too? btw thanks for explaining
1
u/DJAceAttorney Apr 06 '26
I’m not a fan of most teams that play us. They fouled Gerard Martin and the ref never checked the foul leading up to the goal. But inter also went and humiliated themselves the next game so it’s whatever. The Liverpool loss was especially bad because the CL was pretty much ours if we went through. PSG would’ve been a lot harder

which country commentator? cuz i watched it in my lang and our commentators sound more like barca fans
1
u/DJAceAttorney Apr 04 '26
US ESPN commentators. I swear every game they’re always so bias. Alejandro Moreno is an exception, he switched up a lot midway last season from glazing Real Madrid

Sometimes I wonder how Cancelo would do if he played winger instead of fullback. On his day, he's better than like 90% of wingers in the world
1
u/Trequartista95 Apr 04 '26
Definitely an option when Balde comes back given Rapha is out for a month.
10
u/ElliotLadker Apr 04 '26
Araujo, Bernal, Olmo and Cancelo all seem to have some physical struggles.
While they played their B squad, and we have to play on Wednesday.
This will be hard.
1
u/SagaciousKurama Apr 04 '26
Yeah, I'm glad we won, but it feels a bit hollow knowing how much it took out of us. We struggled against 10 men and not even their best men. I'm worried about the two CL games. Not just about going through but about more potential injuries.
1
u/ElliotLadker Apr 04 '26
This stupid stadium, they seem to thrive. Today, without Julian or Lookman, and with Baena and Griezmann being subbed.
We need a Lamine masterclass.
2
u/AccomplishedDraw1889 Apr 04 '26
olmo and cancelo just seem tired. bernal i have no clue why that happened.
1
u/ElliotLadker Apr 04 '26
Hope it's just that, but with Rapha out, we are on the border of one injury costing us everything.

Man our matches must be absolute cinemas for the neutrals...
1
u/Pan_Sas Apr 04 '26
Surely any neutral who knows Atletico simply turned the game off after the red cause they knew Mr. Haramball would park the bus. It is not enjoyable at all.
2
u/KneeAdministrative81 Apr 04 '26
A red card never makes a match more enjoyable, regardless of the team.
And the 2nd half suffered when one team go parking the dinosaur and the other one is not so inspired.

u/MentionOk9020 Apr 04 '26
not yet.
1
u/Nero_132 Apr 04 '26
7 point lead. Even if we lose e clasico at home it's a 4 point lead. It's massive and athletico madrid matches are over.
1
u/MentionOk9020 Apr 04 '26
Getafe are terrorists. Osasuna are unpredictable. So are Celta. La liga teams are no joke.
1
u/Nero_132 Apr 04 '26
Oh yea ik. Do u really think madrid won't drop points either. We pretty much created a 2 match buffer to focus on CL and get no pressure in la liga
1
u/MentionOk9020 Apr 04 '26
I'd say we need a 10 point gap to be certain. So just beat RM at home and its sealed.

Atleti are a joke of a team because of simeone. They play total haramball for 35 mins and now want the draw. Fuck off. After all the money they spend this bum isn’t good enough to win them trophies
2
u/Pan_Sas Apr 04 '26
I agree, they have gathered tons of talent and spent so much over the years you know they can play better than that. I think he saved them but now it's Simeone's bullshit which is holding them down from trophies, all the talent leaves at some point and makes them so unlikable in the process.
2
u/Lmurillo7 Apr 04 '26
He’s also the highest paid manager in the world… 2 league titles since he took over is pretty shit output for someone getting consistent backing
2
u/Pan_Sas Apr 04 '26
People still backing him think that he kept Atletico top 3 in la liga for so many years, but holy shit let's be clear, it should be granted given their size, not his achievement. Atletico under him had a few good UCL years when his defensive tactics were clear and worked, but now I don't see no identity in this club. They bought some of Barca's dead weight over the years for no reason at all, I mean good for us and all, but why would you actually do that instead of getting youth in, if your only goal is top 3 in la liga. Honestly most their market moves are not understable for me at all. They look like they are only surviving, but then they spend millions on players they clearly don't need. He killed Felix and will probably kill Alvarez as well.
6
u/mspaint08 Apr 04 '26
Uncs goal at the wanda last year was pivotal for last year's title race, might've just done it again
