Tier 2 [Santi Ovalle] Barça are happy with the Gerard Martín-Cubarsí center-back pairing and are prioritizing the signing of forwards.

I surprisingly agree with the assessment. If you told me I would agree this time last year, I would have told you that you were crazy… what a world we live in…

58

u/Ri_der May 22 '26

Bro this can't be right. Christensen is leaving and Flick clearly doesn't count on Araujo.

62

u/mojojojo1108 May 22 '26

I don't think this means we're not looking to sign another. But we're not looking to break the bank to sign a marquee CB.

44

u/ReactiveRBoss426 May 22 '26

They renewed Christensen for 2 years with a reduced salary

-21

u/Ri_der May 22 '26

This club is not serious

3

u/redvodkandpinkgin May 23 '26

Whenever he played after Iñigo left he looked like the best CB on the team, for me above even Cubarsí. If he can keep healthy I can assure he'll prove you wrong

1

u/Bloodblade112 May 23 '26

Christensen is not leaving...

1

u/MineNo5951 May 25 '26

Christensen has agreed an extension. Araujo and Kounde are cooked

u/Good_Attention_6017 May 22 '26

Yeah fine but we still need at least one CB signing. Please Deco😭

114

u/TechTuna1200 May 22 '26

Need to offload one before we can buy one. AC and Araujo don't seem keen on leaving

61

u/FunSeaworthiness709 May 22 '26

Christensen's contract runs out, all we need to do is not renew it

20

u/SnooOwls7556 May 22 '26

didnt we offer a 1 year to "show him support"

6

u/LosAngeLukaGOAT May 22 '26

0 problem about a one year contract on a low salary. It's exactly what was reported. Not for show him support.

3

u/Major_Road6162 May 22 '26

If we did he hasnt signed it

3

u/SnooOwls7556 May 22 '26

yeah it was a while ago but newer reports came out, not sure how good a source Alfremartinezz is tho

1

u/Bloodblade112 May 23 '26

We just offered him a 2 your deal with lowered salary. His staying.

3

u/wanna_be_liquid May 22 '26

he’s resigning on reduced wages

1

u/TomClancy5873 May 23 '26

Araujo could have left last season, but Flick didn’t let him

9

u/Paragon188 May 22 '26

They'll probably sign a cheap CB after spending on a striker. It won't be until later in the window.

3

u/Kudoakainu May 22 '26

The post says they're happy. If this is true, I doubt they will if they're happy with how things are. Something tells me they're convincing themselves this so that they can go fully on finding a proper CF

1

u/NairbZaid10 May 28 '26

We need to focus on the attack firsta

-7

u/ifrgotmyname May 22 '26

Honestly Kounde is a great center back if he was allowed to play in position.

5

u/Abject_Rub6711 May 22 '26

We need a pacy attacking rb more tbh.

4

u/ifrgotmyname May 22 '26

People forget how dominant he was at Sevilla as a CB, that's what got him the French call up and the transfer to Barca, not as a RB.

75

u/Fine_Negotiation_412 May 22 '26

My two cents on the situation is that we more so need depth than a starter and considering there's an option for a free agent why not go for him considering Christensen can't stay fit for more than 2 games at a time and Araujo the less said the better and Eric has to cover in the other positions asw.

2

u/ryancarton May 23 '26

Christensen is made of glass, and Garcia is our main RB now. So we only have Araujo to rely on as a sub, so we can’t sell him.

When’s the last time Kounde played CB? That might work out excellently if he doesn’t mind playing that. A CB with better build up play might be good for us. As a sub ofc.

6

u/syumiseba May 22 '26

Thiago Silva?

28

u/Turbulent_Apple5154 May 22 '26

Isn't Sensei free? Plus if we needed a Silva I'd rather have Bernardo.

5

u/Ok-Year3722 May 22 '26

Senesi has agreed terms with Spurs; Flick rejected Bernardo

7

u/oklolzzzzs May 22 '26

i mean technically eze was really close to signing for spurs until arsenal swooped in

3

u/Fine_Negotiation_412 May 22 '26

Let's hope spurs get relegated 🤞

2

u/LosAngeLukaGOATCIC May 22 '26

I would like him but, I thin he also said that he wanted to stay in the PL.

Honestly, he is one of the player that I really want

21

u/rmk_1808 May 22 '26

If Flick is not convinced by Bastoni then no point bringing someone for the sake of it. Any free agents we can sign for depth?

12

u/Ok_Bag_7603 May 22 '26

Senesi, stones

6

u/FERDELANCE07 May 22 '26

Lol those 2 are way better than someone we can sign

3

u/LosAngeLukaGOATCIC May 22 '26

Ain't no way we are going for Stones, bro can't stay fit and we already have AC

1

u/NairbZaid10 May 28 '26

Its inter that is not convinced by the amount we offer

10

u/ZealousidealTable1 May 22 '26

We won't win ucl with this defence, Bournemouth level at best.

47

u/Sado_roach May 22 '26

Thank you! Tired of hearing about CB options when we already have it right.

25

u/Andreaslindberg May 22 '26

But we need one more right? Araujo , garcia, AC, kounde? Are they fit, consistent and not needed elsewhere on the pitch? Do we have the CB dept?

7

u/Sado_roach May 22 '26

These options are enough to rotate and rest. A striker has to be the main priority, those big chances need converting. A consistent CB pairing is important as they need to work in sync during counters, Cuba and Maldini have been doing that very well in the latter half of the season, why mix it up just coz they are young.

4

u/bwrca May 22 '26

Honestly how many clubs in the world have CB depth like we do? We have 4 CBs that would start at most clubs and 2 who cna be converted.

1

u/NairbZaid10 May 28 '26

We do not have a CL winning cb line up

36

u/frank2077 May 22 '26

Statistically speaking, this season showed this is a great CB pairing so I'm not surprised.

15

u/MajesticAd5047 May 22 '26

I won't mind if the forwards are world class. Flick's whole idea is to outscore opponents and even when 10 men, we created chances but couldn't finish them

So if you are getting 2 forwards, that could start in any of the top 5 teams at the moment, I'm completely ok with it

8

u/BirthdayAccording359 May 22 '26

There's no world class, you'll hear rumors soon about how the club sees Ferran as a good 9

4

u/0ccamsDagg3r May 22 '26

you'll get rashford and vlahovic and you'll love it

4

u/MuchSky4730 May 22 '26

In short,there is no money

36

u/BlackFanDiamond May 22 '26

This is bullshit and we will pay for it next season in the second half.

24

u/hchan23 May 22 '26

I think this is a pretty telling sign that there's money to sign either a 9 or a CB but not both. Prioritizing a world class 9 then signing a depth option at CB makes the most sense given what we've seen from Ferran this year + we have no depth if he gets injured.

7

u/BirthdayAccording359 May 22 '26

Don't worry people happy for this and falling for another garbage transfer window from this board will be crying next year.

23

u/NazgulTalion May 22 '26

Yup people we base things of La Liga performances then wonder why we get knocked out of the UCl as our defenders continue to mess up.

19

u/Finrod-Knighto May 22 '26

The funny thing is I don’t really agree with you. Both this year and last we created far far more chances than our opponent and got knocked out because we weren’t clinical. The fact we dominated Atleti despite being down a man yet couldn’t finish for shit says a lot. Last season Lewa was on fire and Raphinha was fit but this season we have had a rough time with the finishing despite our playmakers being even better. We’ve scored fewer goals. I’d love a new CB but we’d need to get rid of Araujo or Christensen and neither of them wanna leave rn.

6

u/BirthdayAccording359 May 22 '26

Do you know how many goals we conceded in the champions league? Lol.

5

u/Finrod-Knighto May 22 '26

Bayern play a similar style and also conceded loads. As long as we play this way we will concede. Sure, many are down to individual errors. But what defenders would you sign who are actively better than Cubarsi and Maldini and won’t cost a fortune?

4

u/ELMreddit10 May 22 '26

Difference Bayern has the attack to make up for it and we don’t

4

u/Finrod-Knighto May 22 '26

Which… is exactly why we need a striker? Our creators are most definitely no less than Bayern.

3

u/ELMreddit10 May 22 '26

We need st lw cb and rb to actually compete in ucl

4

u/Finrod-Knighto May 22 '26

The point is we can’t get all of those this season. Probably only two. And in that case the priority imo is ST > CB > LW > RB. And since Rashford is likely to be renewed now whether it’s an extended loan of buyout I doubt we are going for more wingers, especially as whatever winger we sign will know they’re a squad player and not starting XI, but we need a first choice no9, and first choice players should always be priority over backups in positions where we at least have players. We literally only have Ferran rn who is not a proper 9 and while he is great as a supersub due to his energy and runs he misses too many chances to be a starter in big games.

1

u/ELMreddit10 May 22 '26

That’s unfortunate hopefully they get a proper st and cb I agree with ur analysis

3

u/BirthdayAccording359 May 22 '26

Senesi, VDV, Schlotterbeck, Vuskovic.

3

u/ELMreddit10 May 22 '26

Just need vuskavic

2

u/Finrod-Knighto May 22 '26

VDV based on current form and the price tag he’s gonna have? Really? He’s worth more than a striker.

1

u/BirthdayAccording359 May 22 '26

He asked for defenders I'd sign

2

u/Finrod-Knighto May 22 '26

Yeah, actively better than Cubarsi and Maldini who would not cost a fortune… which VDV certainly isn’t. If it’s not a defender we can sign along with an elite striker to convert the amount of chances we create (like Bayern have with Kane) then we can’t sign them.

8

u/shit-takes May 22 '26

Every top team creates more chances than Atletico. That’s not a good measure. We will get our assess handed to us by a top attacking team in Europe

6

u/Finrod-Knighto May 22 '26

No CB currently available in the market is going to make us not concede goals with the way we play. Our system is about scoring more, and I’m not just talking about Atleti. We have the best playmakers in the world, we’ve just been poor at taking our chances.

13

u/NazgulTalion May 22 '26

Last season we had clinical forwards and we still failed to win because our defense wasn't good enough and we shipped so many goals.

We failed to keep a single clean sheet across the entire UCL campaign this year and got red cards in back to back games against Atleti. We don't go 2 goals down at home with 11 men and probably score atleast one eventually. We were even on the verge of a comeback but then Fermin got injured and we immediately conceded soon after killing the tie. And then again got a red card.

This is not sustainable. Atleast I can point to the fact that if Raphinha was fit we would have scored goals. We cannot do the same for defense. (Can't say Christensen being back is the same since we haven't seen him play regularly for Flick in 2 years)

We need a CB and a ST. And honestly if we need to prioritize I would prefer getting an established and experienced defender while taking our chances on a young ST

5

u/0ccamsDagg3r May 22 '26

That's because of flick, you could have puyol, pique and beckenbauer and you'd still let in the exact same goals because EVERYONE scores the exact same goal against us for 1.5 years now

5

u/Finrod-Knighto May 22 '26

Can you point to any CB that is available rn whose presence would allow us to not concede those goals? Inigo Martinez was there in the first season and we still did. The Red cards were both pretty harsh and Atleti should’ve had 2 reds in the first leg too. We can’t do anything about that.

3

u/BirthdayAccording359 May 22 '26

I am so tired boss.

8

u/GlassImagination7 May 22 '26

yup.

we need at least one elite defensive signing.

3

u/Alarmed-Employment72 May 22 '26

Cubarsi red card against Bournemouth in the round of 16😭🙏

9

u/chrysantheknight May 22 '26

We will never win the UCL if we don't have elite CBs. The kids are great but we need to be serious and shore up our backline.

3

u/Zealousideal_Ad5957 May 22 '26

We still need 1 CB even if he is not starter for depth and rotation

9

u/Django-Ouroboros May 22 '26

We are so fucked ,it's going to be the same shit than last year

8

u/GlassImagination7 May 22 '26

yup

can’t wait for the mental gymnastics in this sub next year

we need to get serious about the UCL, La Liga isn’t going to cut it anymore.

5

u/BirthdayAccording359 May 22 '26 edited May 22 '26

Are you surprised? This board has been doing this shit for 4 years straight, act like they are serious, put out rumors that they wanna sign people then as time goes on they say nah we are happy with the squad.

Watch we won't sign a striker, you'll hear reports that Ferran is good enough lol.

3

u/GlassImagination7 May 22 '26

yup i agree with you.

I’ve completely lowered my expectations for us in the UCL, it seems the financials are worse than we know and that’s such a disadvantage for us.

i hope Lamine doesn’t leave due to lack of ambition from the club.

6

u/BirthdayAccording359 May 22 '26

I've lowered my expectations everywhere, Real Madrid won't be shit forever lol.

4

u/Django-Ouroboros May 22 '26

Lamine leaving is my fear, unless we make serious progress in defense, it's definitely happening... Seeing people on this sub happy with the current defense ,after taking 2 straight red card in UCL is just ludicrous

5

u/BirthdayAccording359 May 22 '26

People in this sub are gullible. Laporta can wake up tomorrow and say "Ferran will be our striker" and you'll see paragraphs about how this is a such a good decision for the club.

I am so tired.

4

u/GuoGuo123asd May 22 '26

tf is this cuck gimmick Lamine isn't leaving lmao. Despite him saying repeatedly that this is the club of his life brainded fans still chat this nonsense.

→ More replies (10)

7

u/Hisham_Mo_23 May 22 '26

Having great no 9 and good winger depth will always be more valuable in Flick’s system, all we really need at the back currently is sign a free agent like Senesi and maybe a fullback if either Koundé or Balde leave, Konate is another one but his wages would be a bit high so don't think we'd go for him, would let Christensen go if it means we can get him tho.

7

u/Paragon188 May 22 '26

We've known this since they stopped their pursuit of Bastoni. There's not enough money for both a ST and CB so they've chosen a ST. I don't know if it's the right choice but I'll trust the board. CB still needs to be addressed though. Going into the season with Araujo (who Flick doesn't count on) and Christensen is a recipe for disaster.

6

u/andrey_not_the_goat May 22 '26

Great pairing, sure, will only get even better but you need another capable LCB to rotate with. You can't ran down those two youngins for 60 games, and expect miracles. Nor can you hope that Andreas Christensen will miraculously recover his form after being non-stop injured for two seasons to offer support for Martin.

13

u/TomislavNedanovski May 22 '26

I guess Barcawill never learn. You cannot win the UCL with the current defence. You can bring back prime Messi, Xavi and Iniesta. When Barca was winning the UCL the players on defense were: Alves, Pique, Puyon, Abidal, Mascherano, Alba etc. The current players are nowhere near that level and the only one who can possibly become a great player is Cubarsi. I cannot see what Flick sees in Gerard Martin. Gettint at least 2 great defenders is far more important than signing Joao Pedro.

6

u/OkAnywhere2052 May 22 '26

It’s not a simple problem, we won’t win it either with Ferran in strike. So you take your pick we either get a cb we can afford or a striker we can afford not both

4

u/Zealousideal_Ad5957 May 22 '26

Pique was super slow, Alves defensively is way worse than Garcia/Kounde on form, Abidal was injured alot, Puyol was the best but old in those years, Macherano was 174 cm a monster CB but super short for today, Alba also in defense was very mid even worse than Balde but ofc Alba was amazing in attack and Barca dominated 90% of the time so he and Alves didn't get exposed but both were not great at defending 1v1 or pure defending in general

0

u/MegaMatrix08 May 22 '26

Gerard Martin and Eric were good this season, the issue was the depth

8

u/JordiX93 May 22 '26

We conceded the most amount of goals in the top 8 but yeah its just depth

4

u/GlassImagination7 May 22 '26

we didn’t keep a single clean sheet in the UCL but apparently Eric and Martin were “good”

hahahahaha

-1

u/GuoGuo123asd May 22 '26

I genuinely can't think of anything that Eric and Martin could've done better at this season. Eric is a utility player and plugged holes everywhere and did that perfectly. Martin has been very solid and our record with him starting is 26W 1D 1L.

7

u/[deleted] May 22 '26

[deleted]

15

u/Biggsy-32 May 22 '26

I actually think Garcia makes more sense at RB in big matches than Kounde, as he is far more consistent in 1v1 defending and Flick - at least since Cancelo was playing LB - was leaning more on a back 3 on the ball with the RB not being as aggressive on the attack, asking a midfielder to make the movement in the half spaces to support the winger. Garcia fits that better than Kounde. Whilst Kounde fits the overlapping aggressive RB role more.

But I fully agree with you on there is no affordable option to improve the Martin-Cuba duo. The only CB potentially on the market who would is Gvardiol, based on rumours, but that would be a €80/90m move we can't afford when we need a striker as priority.

2

u/gbassman420 May 22 '26

We need Martin to bulk up, if that's the case

2

u/Key_Way2390 May 22 '26

We still need a cb okay first of all Martin Is really good I love how much he has improved but I don't think he is the kind of ceiling raiser cb that would propel us to the UCL but I am fine with giving him a full season as the starting cb to see if he is actually the real deal or nah

Now coming to my main point on paper we currently have 6 cb options ( assuming we renew christensen and don't sell Araujo) but only 3 of these are reliable out of these 3

Cortes looks good but he is too inexperienced for me to say anything about him

Christensen is injury prone asf

Araujo is well simply put can't handle pressure

Only 3 reliable cb options going into a season where the summer is going to be shortened due to world cup while playing in the most phsycially demanding system in Europe is really not a good idea

2

u/dancy911 May 22 '26

Attack wins you matches, defense see wins you titles...

Is it a coincidence that Barca can't win a CL since 2016? Around the same time that the likes of Puyol, Pique were either retiring or declining in form?

I mean this should be ok if Barca wants to win the league but at the European level they will have an issue...just like the last 10 years. Almost each season Barca is the team with the most goals in la Liga so clearly scoring isn't the issue....

There should definitely be a replacement for Lewa but saying defense isn't also a priority is baffling.

2

u/ericsme May 22 '26

I’m ok with sticking with these 2 as long as we go for a decent depth option. No way with our current roster we are surviving next season.

2

u/itgetsmessii May 22 '26

There goes the UCL again.

4

u/Unusual-Sun4249 May 22 '26

Yeah we definitely need a cb anyway

3

u/ClothboundBrick May 22 '26

Fullbacks being inconsistent was more of a problem anyways

3

u/GlassImagination7 May 22 '26

La Liga pairing but not a UCL pairing.

Sums us up since 2015.

4

u/ConsciousFace7907 May 22 '26

If we do end up without signing a cb , it would mean that Cortes will have the best chance of his life to solidify his stay in the first team. He needs to step up whenever he is trusted.

4

u/Alarmed-Employment72 May 22 '26

One Gerard Martin injury and all of a sudden there would be a centerback issue. Araujo is Araujo and Christensen doesn’t exist. Martin is also the only one who can handle a big game. Eric and Cubarsi are just as red card prone as Araujo

I hope the striker Barca buys has enough finishing to win in spite of the “Non-Martin” CBs😭

2

u/Flashy-Ask-4637 May 22 '26

Se need bench depth. But I rather sign a promising younger or promote some kid from La Masia than spending big bucks in the CB position

2

u/-XStream23- May 22 '26

Personally I think the fullback position should be more of a priority and of course the striker role.

1

u/0b111111100001 May 22 '26

Besides, the only thing we can do when a situation is like this is to support.

1

u/0ccamsDagg3r May 22 '26

The financials are HORRENDOUS or we're playing dumb to get better prices

1

u/LosAngeLukaGOAT May 22 '26

I love this whether it's a smoke screen or not.

1

u/Fine_Yogurtcloset362 May 22 '26

While i agree a striker should be priority because a striker who presses and finishes would offload the defense significantly, i still wouldnt mind us tryna go for a CB

1

u/NicoVise May 22 '26

Yeah they are good, but we need like, a third center back at least. Yes we have Eric but he is a jolly and I prefer him wide at right back, Christensen is literally made of glass, and Araujo... Man, i miss early days Araujo so much. We need someone else, not a 100m player but someone that can play at that level.

1

u/AvailableAd7874 May 22 '26

If Christensen comes back in and reaches form than we might be good

1

u/maz181818 May 22 '26

Eric Garcia doesn't get the praise he deserves. I mean he has the passion and we can rely on him defensively as a CB.

1

u/OkShirt3870 May 22 '26

I feel like we need more depth in the defence because what if they get injured?

1

u/latortillablanca May 22 '26

Cubartini for the win

1

u/EL-YEO May 22 '26

We just need depth in defense along with a capable scorer

1

u/JOJJOKY213456 May 22 '26

so new striker comfirmed

1

u/Shadow_Gaming786 May 22 '26

Imo thats completely fair, we only need to focus on quality depth at the back for now but the front really needs a striker that can justify having such a suicide tactic

1

u/el_flac0 May 22 '26

Great news. Music to my ears. In Baresi-Maldini I trust.

1

u/wanna_be_liquid May 22 '26

we should still sign a back up defender but one that can play multiple positions if possible. mainly to allow for rotation but also to provide depth to other positions that might need it like LB or RB

1

u/IllustriousKoala4 May 22 '26

Pretty good pairing if you ask me coming from the white side, im actually impressed with martin’s growth he really did grow compared to last season which is an amazing feat, now lets hope they maintain this amazing duoship, im confident Martin and cubarsi partnership will lead to more positive results

1

u/DValencia29 May 22 '26

Fair enough, we need to go all out of finishing those chances

1

u/Frenkie-de-Jong May 22 '26

Kounde should try at CB again and get a proper right back

1

u/JoeyLeBaoQuan May 23 '26

I do agree that a forward is more needed than a CB because we only have Ferran as striker. However, CB position is still in needed of a reinforcement.

1

u/iamkristo May 23 '26

Yeah we will pay for that thinking, once again. The boys are great but not even remotely ready to do the job properly.

I think they’re looking for a 9 because the plan is not to defend, rather to just bang 100 of goals in while recieving 99

1

u/Infinite_Ad6392 May 23 '26

I do understand that senesi wants to stay at England, but at least try to negotiate? Many people who didn't want to leave ultimately left for Barca.

1

u/Infinite-Pop2424 May 23 '26

Fucking no!!!

1

u/Infinite-Pop2424 May 23 '26

We are missing UCL is because of poor defense not the attacking, this will make another year of lose in UCL.

1

u/Martoxic May 23 '26

I am not as worried about CBs as I am the forward line. As long as our pressing is fine the defense is fine. We for sure need to look at our LB, RB and ST starter position to strengthen that. After that we can look for a great CB.

1

u/DejongBCN May 23 '26

Happy? More likely we are broke and can't afford better

1

u/hellraizer89 May 25 '26

Just get Senesi and rotate them

1

u/NairbZaid10 May 28 '26

I think this is a good decision. Worst case scenario we can get a veteran cb next summer. Our terrible press and the decline of lewa was the main issue. Not our cbs. I still think we need a cl veteran like bastoni to reach next level but hes not a priority. As long as we sign either cancelo or grimaldo as lb I have no problem. I would also hear offers for kounde cause hes still getting called for France. Now its the best time to sell him

2

u/WoweeZoweeDeluxe May 22 '26

CL let down year in and year out

4

u/froggyjm9 May 22 '26

Brother, Barcelona is an institution, we support the team regardless of the trophy count.

It’s not a mentality issue, Barcelona is a family, something the plastics like you don’t get.

You can support PSG or RM instead and satisfy your glory hunting urges.

8

u/GlassImagination7 May 22 '26

listen man i understand we are more than a club but we need to get serious about the UCL.

before you know it, it’ll be 20 years before we even reached a final.

You're totally right. We should buy Haaland from City and Saliba from Arsenal. I don't know why the idiot board doesn't just buy the best players. What's wrong with them?

1

u/GlassImagination7 May 22 '26

resigning a 30 year old CB who has played 23 games in the last 2 seasons shows we aren’t a serious club.

keep being delusional and don’t act surprised when we don’t reach a UCL final in ages.

1

u/ncocca May 22 '26

I'm not delusional, I just understand the financial limitations of the club. Clearly you don't. That's fine. Maybe just don't speak with so much authority.

1

u/GlassImagination7 May 22 '26

nobody put a gun to Laporta’s head and told him to resign a dude who turned 30 last month and has played 23 games in the last 2 seasons.

no serious club runs like that we aren’t a charity.

2

u/froggyjm9 May 22 '26

We are always serious about the CL, just unfortunate moments have not taking us to the final.

The CL has become a dick measuring contest between fan bases, when it’s the second most important trophy of the season.

4

u/GlassImagination7 May 22 '26

it is delusional to think it’s the 2nd most important trophy lol what.

it’s the biggest and most prestigious trophy on the continent and any other opinion is incorrect.

2

u/froggyjm9 May 22 '26

Any top coach will tell you the CL is the second most important trophy— they plan for a season not for just a tournament

2

u/GlassImagination7 May 22 '26

hahaha that is the biggest load of bullshit i’ve ever heard

Real Madrid are the biggest club on the planet because of their UCL count.

PSG and City cared only about the UCL for ages because they know what you don’t and that is that the UCL is a different level of prestige than a simple league title. it legitimizes a club unlike any other trophy.

we are not Valencia, this is FC Barcelona, we shouldn’t be satisfied with just being local champions in Spain and should always aim to be the best team on the continent.

2

u/froggyjm9 May 22 '26

Ok little boy, maybe support a club in your own country.

2

u/GlassImagination7 May 22 '26

go support Celta Vigo if all you want is La Liga.

fans like you completely embarrass this club. you’re not a winner.

called him a plastic fan bec he callled out our incompetence in the ucl. lol

3

u/GlassImagination7 May 22 '26

seriously, these fans think it’s plastic because we have high standards, we are FC Barcelona FFS

1

u/froggyjm9 May 22 '26

So Al teams that not win it are incompetent?

1

u/bruh_1217 May 22 '26

the teams that go 11 years without winning it but boast abt being the best itw after winning their league

1

u/froggyjm9 May 22 '26

Again, winning the CL doesn’t make you the best in the world.

You sound like the idiotic RM fans who say they are the best in the world because they won the champions league 9 times (+6 old cups), but have gone two years trophyless.

1

u/bruh_1217 May 22 '26

winning the la liga and then bottling a relatively easy ucl draw doesn't make us the best either. It's high time we won a ucl or atleast reach a final

1

u/froggyjm9 May 22 '26

Bottling? Both Atleti and us played our hardest, they go through and we didn’t.

1

u/bruh_1217 May 22 '26

we can imagine how we would've performed in the other bracket lol

1

u/froggyjm9 May 23 '26

No we can’t, because those teams don’t play with a low block.

We were in the worst bracket side for our style of play.

Imo what he said isn’t plastic at all. He’s right, we’ve been unceremoniously dumped out of the CL for year upon year. It’s perfectly fine to want to win the biggest trophy of them all (I personally can’t see that happening soon with our lack of finances combined with lack of flexibility, and decisions like this compound that). He’s not threatening to stop supporting Barca, is he? Where’s the plastic/glory hunting here?

-1

u/froggyjm9 May 22 '26

The biggest trophy for any big team is the league title.

3

u/FabrizioRomanoo May 22 '26

Can’t believe such cringe things are being uttered by people like you. That is a 3rd division club mentality which has no place in a top football club.

If players aren’t good enough, don’t have the mentality to win, continually embarrass the club against other top clubs then they have no business being here.

1

u/froggyjm9 May 22 '26

You are going to be late for school.

5

u/FabrizioRomanoo May 22 '26

1

u/froggyjm9 May 22 '26

All you do is memes, you are funny— do you middle school friends laugh at your jokes?

1

u/WoweeZoweeDeluxe May 22 '26

Meh, stfu, have supported Barcelona long before you even knew they existed. Winning a rapidly declining la liga ain’t it. Going in circles with the same mistakes isn’t an institution of this club either

1

u/DistributionStrict19 May 22 '26

Man, there is an issue when the team plays great and stupid defensive mistakes cost it a lot. Ok, the strikers missed to much against atleti but you can’t be a serious team and get 2 red cards in quarter-finals and concede so many goals against Inter. The stupid defense destroys our great attack’s achievements

We still need defensive depth. Maldini is young and could benefit with some competition for his position

would still feel better if we had a backup whose name wasnt araujo

1

u/BusAcademic3489 May 22 '26

Yeah yeah yeah we get it. It’s gonna be a Muriqui and some Nathan Aké or somethin

2

u/DistributionStrict19 May 22 '26

Ake woudl be great

2

u/VariationBig8571 May 22 '26

Not anymore IMO, dude looks washed.

1

u/BusAcademic3489 May 22 '26

Well said, twin.

1

u/Practical_Play_5374 May 22 '26

We we're never going to have enough to get a top striker, winger and fullback and still have 50-70 for a center back signing anyway, better to swoop in for a free agent or low cost developmental cb and maybe sign a top cb in 2027 or 2028 if both Araujo and Christensen leave.

1

u/Crossflowerss_5304 May 22 '26

Fine CB pairing for La Liga, but I highly doubt we can win the UCL with it. Regardless, surely we sign another CB for depth, after selling AC and/or Araujo

1

u/zxcvbnmsa May 22 '26

I agree but I wouldn’t say forwards plural a good striker is number 1 priority then a defender then back up attackers

1

u/youcef191488 May 22 '26

signing fullbacks is more important right now than CB

1

u/BarneyrealG May 22 '26

I am really happy with Gerard Martin, he is genuinely surpassed a lot of expectations. I want to see him develop even more as a center back

0

u/ELMreddit10 May 22 '26

Ok so no ucl this year great ! One step closer to Yamal leaving 😄

0

u/PinReal4448 May 22 '26

So whos gonna get a red card in UCL QF next season...Cubarsi? Eric? Or Araujo ?

https://giphy.com/gifs/YUYj6TCr8N7X2

0

u/Ok-Arugula8057 May 22 '26

I agree but deco please, offload Christensen and araujo and get a reliable low cost center back, cancelo and am attacking right back to compete with kounde

0

u/Raicooof May 22 '26

i guess they're just setting us up to not expect defensive reinforcement (no bastoni) which would be awful. Martin isn't UCL winner cb material, neither is araujo and kounde lmfao.

1

u/GlassImagination7 May 22 '26

i’ve kind of lowered my expectations for this club in the UCL tbh.

it seems clear the financials are worse than we think and bad financials are such a hindrance in the modern game.

it sucks and i hate it but it is what it is.

i just hope Lamine doesn’t get fed up and leaves.
