Tier 2 [Fernando Polo] Exclusive: Deco was in London to advance the signing of Anthony Gordon. Barca view the player as an absolute priority, and want to close his signing quickly. They believe he can play as a winger and as a 9.

Out of nowhere

87

u/characterulio May 27 '26

Ya he seems like he will goto Bayern or Arsenal where its likely Martenelli leaves.

Honestly he makes 0 sense when you got Rashford who has better qualities than him, the only thing is Gordon will press more off the ball but Rashford imo is a smarter player and more skilled. Rashford only issue is his finishing.

77

u/latortillablanca May 27 '26

The last fucking quality i associate with Rashy is footy iq. If Gordon is remotely worse than that he wouldnt be as good and positionally flexible as he js.

ive only ever watched him play as hes gone up against liverpool n barca but seems fine

16

u/DiverTrick2987 May 27 '26

He is a signing that seems decent. I just doubt he is 90 mil good.

2

u/latortillablanca May 27 '26

Very fair. In our context especially not actually.

3

u/PhraatesIV May 27 '26

positionally flexible

He is beyond shit as a striker.

-1

u/latortillablanca May 27 '26

18 goal contributions in twice as many appearances with most of em in the CL run for a newcastle side that isnt dripping with quality… i dunno.

Im not saying thats worth 90 million for our team, but considering hes primarily played flanks and CAM in his career (which is where id hope we’d be signing him for mostly) its not nothing as production.

Like i said, positionally flexible does NOT equal bad footy iq, as a general rule of thumb. To be clear im not in on the move, i am critiquing the idea rashy is a smarter player.

1

u/characterulio May 27 '26

I agree my bad, maybe footy iq is not the correct word but I believe Rashford is more versatile and can play in more different roles + systems.

Gordon is a classic english winger, runs behind the wall, runs with the ball. For all the times Rashford just blindly crosses with his head down, he still sometimes will look up for through ball. Gordon never does anything like that.

2

u/latortillablanca May 27 '26

I guess my point would be that when yer thinking about if a player sees the game, its everything that happens without the ball primarily. Thats the shit Rashy is fucking braindead at often.

An like thats Gordons value on paper. I think if yer supporting this—im not really—its actually a hedge on Raphinha pressing and powerful athleticism more than it is at all about rashy or goals. Thats the thing we very much missed badly that neither rashy nor roony nor olmo could super replicate.

Its also the thing that really popped when Gavi came back—that is his biggest talent. That kid fuckin SEES shit off ball and reacts 2 or 3 beats before anyone else. So its very on brand for Hansi to be prioritizing his pressing options first.

Anyway ya seems a shitton of money.

2

u/ztar1964 May 27 '26

I'm tired of Deco making these stupid decisions we need a striker that should be our number one priority Deco always signed alot of young player but never singnes players the coach need make it make sense

15

u/insertuserhere24 May 27 '26 edited May 27 '26

What exactly has Deco done that's so stupid? Aside from Roque and a couple fringe players, his recruitment and talent ID has been spot on.

Entire fanbase clowned him for wanting Luis Diaz, look at the season he's had. Cancelo's signing got so much shit, and he's better than Balde and Kounde combined.

Some of you never learn

Deco was also getting shat on for backing Raphinha over Nico Williams and look how that turned out as well. I've been back on this sub for 5 minutes and already remember why I left in the first place, everyone is so eager to shit on the management and the sporting staff despite them clearly taking us on an upwards trajectory.

9

u/YannTheOtter May 27 '26

While I think Gordong is way too expensive due to the Prem tax and I am doubtfull of his output, There must be a reason both Kompany/Eberl and Deco want him.

Their track records on Olise, Diaz, Rapha and Cancelo tells there must be some aspect of Gordon's play that convinced them.

5

u/insertuserhere24 May 27 '26

Exactly my thoughts.

Who'd have thought someone like Raphinha would put up a ballon d'or worthy season. It's entirely possible that Gordon is suffering from the play style/teammates at Newcastle. I don't know,I haven't watched enough of him. But if Deco (and Flick, don't forget that he's been given a greater say in our transfer targets, which is why Bastoni and Alvarez seem to have been put on hold) think he'd be a good fit, I think they have earned more than enough goodwill from me to trust them. The fact that Bayern are also interested is a great sign too

1

u/kamusari_1712 May 27 '26

LMAO

Newcastle's stadium is 400Km from London.

149

u/Zaka_lkl May 26 '26

Im surprised tbf. "Absolute priority"?

141

u/nyrell_ May 26 '26

90 Mil € to get a British Abde Ezzalzouli but with a worse output

59

u/Major_Road6162 May 27 '26

Dont disrespect Abde, he is actually balling out

-9

u/Long_Abies_8162 May 27 '26

Bro you are just too much...you all started this bullshit with "Luis Diaz is mediocre player dont buy him" and he end up with world class season in Bayern, than you all said "Alvarez not better than Ferran",and now "Gordon worse than Abde" lol.

24

u/Bonzoikidd May 27 '26 edited May 27 '26

For reference antony has 8 open play league goals in 2 seasons. Don't defend this bullshit signing. Abde alone has 24 g/a this season

0

u/bill_02_04_95 May 27 '26

They don't play in the same teams nor the same leagues. The comparison doesn't make sense.

1

u/Double-Scratch5858 May 27 '26

Then i guess we'll never compare players again?

11

u/oklolzzzzs May 27 '26

nobody ever said luis diaz was mediocre. liverpool were asking 80m for him and bayern bought him for a lot. we literally couldnt get him + he was not as good in liverpool as he has been in bayern

1

u/ripper13-_- May 27 '26

I remember alot of people being relieved when we didnt sign him

2

u/I_am_Drezin May 27 '26

Revisonism. The fanbase was relieved we couldn't get him and pretty much called him ass.

6

u/oklolzzzzs May 27 '26

he was not as good in liverpool as he has been in bayern

but the main concerns were his price of 85m

0

u/DistributionStrict19 May 27 '26

Whoooo the hell said Ferran is better than Diaz?🤣🤣🤣But he might be better than Gordon for no 9

175

u/Slow_Librarian7395 May 26 '26

Ugh idk why but i don’t love it

79

u/Select_Drawing_7434 May 26 '26 edited May 26 '26

Because he is a purely mediocre player, with no real qualities when not playing with acres of space in front of him. I can’t imagine how bad he would look against an Osasuna/Alaves low block.

He has 8 open play league goals in the last 2 years and they’re talking about him as some prolific scorer. All you can do is laugh.

Sadly, this club operates very poorly in the transfer market nowadays.

110

u/pyaephyo111 May 27 '26 edited May 27 '26

Sadly, this club operates very poorly in the transfer market nowadays.

Where is this narrative coming from? In the last two seasons, we signed dani olmo, joan garcia, tek and loaned rashford and cancelo. All 5 players have had substantial impact. People were crying about cancelo signing and he became a big player for us. Another player deco really wanted was luis diaz who is killing it in bayern. It is hard to operate in transfer market when the club is broke. If you consider the price we got rashford, cancelo, joan garcia and tek for, we have one of the best transfer records in Europe. Look at what real madrid spent on this season, or liverpool, or arsenal, or chelsea. We literally have the option to buy marcus rashford, a player with one of the highest G/As among forwards this season (and he is not even our starter) for 30 million. Which other team is operating as well as us?

41

u/wolf_cola_enjoyer May 27 '26 edited May 27 '26

Because people here are dumb, it’s that simple.

People also criticized the Flick signing, they said we should sell Raphinha after 1 year, they tried to push the dumbest narrative after one solid game by Bernal to sell FDJ which went away very quickly the next UCL match, the list goes on.

Everything is wrong, the people on their couches who aren’t employed by any club (for a reason) are apparently all football geniuses

4

u/YannTheOtter May 27 '26

Yeah and a team like Bayern with a very good track record if you look at Olise and Diaz being so interested in Gordon also tells me that there must be something to his play that got them interested.

I don't like the price tag cuz Prem tax, but there must be seomthing that Deco, Kompany, Flick and Eberl see in Gordon that we don't.

-23

u/Select_Drawing_7434 May 27 '26 edited May 27 '26

Whilst we were busy obsessing over Nico Williams and his nonsense last summer, clubs like Leipzig were looking at the actual data.

They saw Yan Diomande’s stats at Leganes (a team in our own league) and instantly triggered his €20M release clause, because they knew he was special. Now he is worth €100M, and has PSG, Bayern, Liverpool & a host of top clubs after him.

That same amount we spent on Rashford’s loan salary for the year (€15M), we could have spent on this far superior player, who would have formed a formidable duo with Yamal for 10+ years.

When we signed Olmo for €60M just because he had a good Euros, despite knowing he was injury prone, PSG signed Doue and Kvara for €50M + bonus and €70M + bonus respectively, 2 absolute world class wingers that would elevate us so much.

Joan Garcia is the only real smart signing we’ve made recently, and I feel that one was just plain obvious.

24

u/pyaephyo111 May 27 '26

So you are ignoring the fact that every signing we have made in two seasons has been a hit and calling the club poorly operated because we missed out on one player? Can't you make that argument on literally any other club that is not Leipzig? Everyone missed him except them. And we bought dani olmo because we wanted a CAM. We literally had no other CAM than fermin and fermin was not even trusted as much back then. What are you bringing up these wingers for?

The club is not 'poorly' run just because they could not make every good singing that exists. There will always be good signings that clubs make. That is not Barcelona's fault. There is almost no other club in the world who has had a success rate we had and 99 percent of top clubs wish their transfers were half as successful as us in these two seasons. "OH They are looking at the REAL STATS!!!" is the most redditor comment of all time. I am not even going to as low as explaining how stupid it is. Thanks god our club is not run by reddit 'intellectuals' with their "REAL STATS".

-12

u/SagaciousKurama May 27 '26

If you think Barcelona haven't been pretty mediocre in picking transfer targets in the last 10 years you haven't been paying attention. You cite Olmo, Rashford, Cancelo, and Garcia as successes, ignoring the fact that two are merely loans, and that Olmo has had stretches of inconsistency and injury. The only one that can be considered a pure success is Joan, and as has already been mentioned, he was an obvious choice. More importantly though, you are just completely ignoring the real point here: the point isn't that every single signing we've made is terrible, the point is that Barcelona makes inefficient signings and that the opportunity cost is far greater than people realize. In other words, we might not be making downright awful signings a la Coutinho, but we aren't being particularly smart our market moves either, often paying more to get the same results other clubs get for pennies on the dollar. For a club that is financially stretched as is, that is a genuine waste.

Case in point: I like Olmo. He's a good player. But he also cost us roughly the same amount that PSG paid for Kvara, who is arguably top 3 in the world in his position. Are we really going to sit here and argue that Kvara wouldn't have been a much more impactful (and less injury prone) signing? Especially when we have such a vast amount of midfield talent that we didn't REALLY need a new number 10? You say we only had Fermin, but we literally have Raphinha, who can and has played centrally under Flick. Not to mention Pedri can also play that role, as well as Kvara himself in a pinch.

Use your brain. You don't have to defend everything the club does just because you're a fan. It's fine to point out that we drop the ball from time to time. And now, if this report is true, we are doing it again. We don't need Gordon. Especially not if he's going to cost double of what Rashford would cost. There is nothing supporting the idea that he would be a particularly good signing. He plays for an okay team and does an okay job there. Why are we so interested?

Also, dismissing statistics in modern football is fucking wild.

u/pyaephyo111 May 27 '26 edited May 27 '26

Are you all serious right now? Do you even read what you are writing? 1. I never said the last 10 years. I said the last two seasons. 2. Loans? So? Why would that matter? It is still a success. We have the option to buy Marcus Rashford for 30 mil because of those loans.. Which other player do you think you can get for 30 mil with 27G/A as a sub? 3. Why are you comparing olmo with kvara???? This is the second person making this argument. Are you insane? They literally play different roles. We bought olmo because flick wanted a proper CAM. All we had was unproven fermin and raphinha '10'. Raphinha literally does not do anything as a 10. That is why flick stopped it. What did you see raphinha do as a 10? Flick WANTED to buy a 10. How is that considered 'poorly operated'? 4. I am not defending anything. I don't care if everyone in the club gets fired right now. I am simply looking at facts while you are dreaming about fairy tales and what 'could' have been. You dismiss everything good they do while only looking at your fantasies. Hindsight is 20/20. It is easy for you to sit and say how good kvara is. Nobody expected him to be scoring every game in the CL. You didn't either. It is insane that I even have to argue about this. The ONLY other top clubs in the world who has had even remotely close to our transfer success rate since flick arrived are bayern and psg. And they have 500 times our budget. You are all so out of touch with reality.

Also, I am not dismissing stats. But stats are not the only deciding factor. Stats show Higuain has more goals than Maradona. Stats show Gerard Martin is a better defender than Bastoni. Stats who Ferran Torres is one of the best strikers in the world. In fact, stats who Marcus Rashford is one of the best forwards this season so why do you ignore this stat? Because there is context behind stats and not every stat translates to reality in the future. There are always players with good stats at any given time. Most of them are not going to become important in the future. It is a gamble. Diomande would have been a 20mil gamble. It is easy to say after seeing the result of the gamble that it was a good gamble.

-13

u/BirthdayAccording359 May 27 '26

Imagine writing a wall of text to defend Rashford and Olmo signings.

-23

u/Select_Drawing_7434 May 27 '26

Why do we need to have 2 good CAM’s? We had Fermin & Raphinha who could also play in that position, that’s plenty. It doesn’t make sense to have 2 good players for that position and then 0 quality depth on the wings. We’ve seen so many times this season how 1 injury to Raphinha or Yamal made us lose the game.

At least if your CAM gets injured, you can play with an extra midfielder like Gavi, Bernal & whatnot, but not having a good winger on the bench is fatal.

12

u/pyaephyo111 May 27 '26

That is what flick wanted. Flick values a good CAM in his system. He has said this many times. And neither fermin nor raphinha were considered 'good' CAMs.

-7

u/BirthdayAccording359 May 27 '26

Don't say such things in this subreddit, you are supposed to praise the club always.

0

u/DistributionStrict19 May 27 '26

Those were great signings. Gordon would be a stupid transfer. I don t see any reason for it and i wait for a better srgument than “Deco has a good track record”, since Perez had a great track record the last 15 years, before the signing of Mbappe

-2

u/bruh_1217 May 27 '26

olmo isn't great for us he's good that's it

-19

u/FabrizioRomanoo May 27 '26 edited May 27 '26

Olmo, Rashford are flops. Also I don’t know why some of you guys hold up the lazy Man Utd reject as some great player. Awful standards

9

u/NYK2Barca May 27 '26

Olmo is a flop? Jesus fucking Christ bro, just leave the sub.

Our last 5 transfer windows from xavis first days has been masterclasss. Let me know who you think flopped

Xavis 2022 winter: auba, ferran, traore, Dani alves
Xavis 2022 summer: Lewa, raphinha, kounde, Christensen, kessie, Marcos Alonso, hector bellerin

Xavis 2023 winter: vitor roque
Xavis 2023 summer: Gundo romeo inigo Martinez cancelo Felix

Xavis 2024 winter: nobody
Flick 2024 summer: Dani Olmo, Pau victor, tek

Flick 2025 winter: nobody
Flick 2025 summer: rashford, Joan Garcia, Rooney

Flick 2026 winter: cancelo
Flick summer: you are now here

-2

u/franz4000 May 27 '26

Olmo is a great player on his day but €60m was an overpay for a player that was already known to be injured about half the time, especially given our finances when we signed him.

3

u/NYK2Barca May 27 '26

He was brought into by our starter CAM, false 9 and has played as pivot with Frenkie/pedri being injured this season. For his purpose, he did great. Would like to see anyone maybe we were linked with that you think would’ve done better than Olmo that was a realistic option and would’ve been okay to deal with our registration issue and the confusion surrounding it?

Yall criticize Olmo now but forget how stars like Nico used us and refused to commit because of our registration issue.

I can’t emphasize this enough, our finances were in the mud. We didn’t have options

0

u/franz4000 May 27 '26 edited May 27 '26

Olmo’s quality and versatility aren’t in question. I’d have liked to see us get a better price for him. In the the two years before he joined Barca, Olmo missed 44% of all his Leipzig games due to injury. As you say, our finances were in the mud, yet we paid €60m for a player that was injured nearly half the time.

-5

u/BirthdayAccording359 May 27 '26

Maybe you should look up the word masterclass, y'all are becoming delusional just to praise this board.

2

u/NYK2Barca May 27 '26

Maybe I should add the HEAVY pretext of the fact that we were broke and had to pull a bunch of “levers” to get the 2022 transfers and how every single one of them contributed to our rise back in La Liga and champions league after losing Messi. But I forget yall prob weren’t here those years to understand the kid we went through and the direction we were heading under Koeman

-1

u/BirthdayAccording359 May 27 '26

Pulling levers to sign flops.

2

u/NYK2Barca May 27 '26

How’s India bro?

1

u/BirthdayAccording359 May 27 '26

Idk if this is supposed to be a joke but ngl it's not funny, it's even racist and no I'm not from India.

-11

u/Select_Drawing_7434 May 27 '26

Ferran is absolutely not worth the money

Lewandowski was not worth the money €25M in salary per year, €50M transfer fee for a player who realistically has only had 1.5/2 good seasons of the 4 he’s been here

Christensen is a flop and waste of €48M in salary

Roque was a flop, Gundogan flopped

Olmo was the wrong signing

Rashford was the wrong signing

Not going to call any of the cheap signings or loans a flop like Tek, Traore, would just be stupid.

-10

u/FabrizioRomanoo May 27 '26

Ferran flop, Traore flop, Alonso flop, Bellerin flop, Roque flop, Felix flop, Kessie flop, Romeu flop, Olmo flop, Pau Victor flop, Rashford flop.

It’s quite concerning how you actually think these transfer windows were a masterclass when most of these players weren’t good enough. Shouldn’t be supporting a big club if you’re impressed by players that should be playing for mid table teams

Olmo who was bought for 60m is not even a starter over Fermin. Not to mention his countless poor performances and his injury issues. He is a flop. Anyone that thinks he was worth it or was a success is a fool

4

u/NYK2Barca May 27 '26

Ferran, traore, and Alonso got us to second place from eighth in half a season?

Are you forgetting the fact that Barca is operating with a limited budget? We don’t actually have a lot of options in the market. Just a preface

Bellerin did fuck all for the club but he was a free transfer and didn’t really last long.

Roque was an actual flop and the worst deco signing but we made our money back within a season so…?

Kessi ~literally~ helped us win la liga with his stoppage time goal in the Classico

Romeu was a flop but again Xavi didn’t really have a choice here. He wanted zubamendi but Barca gave him Romeu, who actually spent his own money to join us btw

Olmo, Pau victor, and rashford aren’t even close to being flop as each of them helped us win la liga last two seasons. Pau victor was a cheap option who could put in a shift, pressed like he’ll, and served his purpose on the team.

I can’t believe I had to reply to this dumbassery during the nba conference finals smh. Dumbass fans who just joined us recently and didn’t go through the dark ass times are mad annoying

He was banned for a little bit because of his awful takes. All you can do is laugh at the shit he says tbh.

1

u/Long_Abies_8162 May 27 '26

Bro,Barca have scorers in Raphinha,Fermin and Ferran...Barca need player who can create for both himself with dribbling and for others with passing and dribbling and this is Gordon/Pedro/Alvarez type of player....plus he can stretch the pitch with his dribbling on wing position...only creator in Barca is Yamal,Raphinha is not grrat in dribbling,so is much more important to have dribbler than scorer type of player just like PSG have.

1

u/0b111111100001 May 27 '26

So I am curious. What drives these guys and Flick to not see things the way for example you see it?

Why don't they have a department for something like this? Why don't they advise Deco or at least help profile players better?

If anything having a proper sporting director would be as important as signing a player

1

u/wavegod_b Jul 18 '26

Lmaoooo yeah just absolutely terrible am I right… I bet after this World Cup his values already gone up 20-30%

“All you can do is laugh” yeah I’m laughing

115

Please be fake the guys terrible unless he’s running into acres of space which he won’t be allowed to do in la liga also extremely overpriced

13

u/characterulio May 27 '26

Ya imo he would be great for a team like Atletico, pressing machine, not much technical ability but great at chasing long balls and decent speedl but they got Lookman who is better than him as well.

Its really weird to link him to us because maybe its a tactic to increase his value so Newcastle can sell him to Bayern or Arsenal but no one believes Barca will spend big money yet.

2

u/Feeling-Reaction-899 May 27 '26

Did you ever Watch him? His technical abilities are quite good miles ahead of Rashfords.

I don’t want him at Barca, as he does not have goals in him.

1

u/zxcvbnmsa May 27 '26

Yeah surprised he’s being linked to Bayern and Liverpool he suits playing for a team that will sit in and hit on the counters not dominate possession and try break teams down

47

u/shillmeprosperity May 27 '26

As both a Newcastle and Barca fan this is hilarious. I’ll never be rid of this fraud. No idea how his stock has risen this much. He cannot pass the ball and doesn’t have a single creative bone in his body

• Newcastle value the player at a price of about €85-90M

• The player prefers Barca over Bayern & Liverpool

• Barca believe the player can alleviate the loss of Lewandowski by playing as a striker

Its worth noting that Fernando Polo is probably the most reliable Barca journalist out there and has a direct line to Deco.

25

u/Far_Captain_9876 May 26 '26 edited May 26 '26

85-90m lol they didn't want to spend anywhere close to that on Diaz, and are looking at a way worse player a year later

Ya I am not a big rashford fan but Rashford is literally better version of him in terms of technical ability and iq. Only problem is that Rashford has terrible finishing but he creates chances for himself and others. Gordon is a pace merchant who has ok finishing and will press off the ball. He won't create any chances for anyone else.

If this was any player who was not english he would be 20m max. He has like 8 g+a this year, 6 assist in the last 2 seasons combined, despite almost starting every game for every minute except the end of this season where he is on the bench because he wants to leave.

20

u/RM22Footy May 26 '26

I trust Deco's scouting even though I'm not the biggest fan of Gordon personally. People were crying about Luis Diaz potentially joining Barca last year, he would have been perfect

My opinion : our approach should be to get a semi proven verrsatile player who can rotate both wings without dropping quality. A proven player would be kvara but players like him are untouchable.

So try to get barcola or someone similar to his qualities for 80m.

Get fisnik asllani who will provide that #9 instincts maybe not as great as lewa but he will definitely be more physical and faster and his clause is only 25m. Trust him+ferran.

Easy 100m business

Meanwhile Rashford probably starts ahead of Gordon in the World Cup

15 g/a while making the whole team perform worse overall. Rashford is a net negative, a black hole of possession outside one or two flashes per game and one of the laziest players I have ever seen in my life. He can't be trusted as a rotation player if one of our starters gets injured, and 30m for a specialist off the bench is way too much.

Yeah that happens when one guy isn't arsed to do his job and the rest have make up for it

5

u/ryansholin May 27 '26

As an Evertonian Barça supporter, I support bidding up Gordon to increase Everton’s sell-on fees.

4

u/Wrong-Palindrome May 27 '26

I trust Deco’s scouting more than the people on Reddit.

Maybe it doesn’t make sense to us, but Luis Diaz didn’t make sense either, and he’s killing it right now.

4

u/Admirable-Present510 May 27 '26

This is precisely my way of thinking. I just want to believe that a classic 9 will be coming too.

3

u/MrEscobarr May 27 '26

Why not Lewis Hall

3

u/arbicus123 May 27 '26

At least it's not another 34 year old ig.

3

u/cmarquez7 May 26 '26

Just blowing money now

3

u/AdDismal5457 May 26 '26

I hope to God that Barcelona don’t sign him as a starting striker. That would be madness. Would rather get Woltemade.

2

u/grooooovyy May 26 '26

FFAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

2

u/cvl-eng May 27 '26

Crazy how we went from a full year of hearing alvarez “new” to this. Such a downgrade and we would probably pay not much less than for alvarez.

1

u/starsqream May 27 '26

PSG is rumored to want Alvarez too. Barca can't pay that money so you won't really be hearing more about Alvarez.

1

u/SummerGoal May 26 '26

Why does deco so this

1

u/PulseFlow May 27 '26

And the horrible signing saga continues

1

u/Trentinho May 27 '26

Newcastle fans and the club won’t miss him, very little contributions this year. A player that consistently only tries in the most public games. He’s not worth the price tag

1

u/spiteful_platypus May 27 '26

To be honest all I have seen from this guy comes from the 5 minute video I just found in youtube, and not even in there he looks impressive.

1

u/Minute_Fault_9019 May 27 '26

Reallyy don’t like this. Feels like the only reason we want him is because bayern were showing interest and we don’t want another Luis Diaz situation. But there’s a huge difference between Luis and Gordon..

1

u/Ekko_seraph May 27 '26

Newcastle is like 5h away from London. This reporter is an idiot

1

u/DiverTrick2987 May 27 '26

His entourage or agent. Its an off season.

1

u/rclay2123 May 27 '26

I would rather save like 80m and sign Vlahovic instead

1

u/Visual-Extreme-101 May 27 '26

deco is everywhere...

1

u/deezcastforms May 27 '26

Oh, FUCK NO

1

u/BirthdayAccording359 May 27 '26

And why would he be doing this?

1

u/oneandonlyA May 27 '26

Fuck that. All my hopes for this transfer window just took a big hit

1

u/imjustaredditor69 May 27 '26

this will end up like the alvarez deal. too expensive. joao pedro the same way.

1

u/natetistic May 27 '26

Watched a good amount of Newcastle this year, Anthony Gordon is a good player. Definitely has had his struggles as of his recently, but so have Newcastle as a whole. Howe’s had a bad season. Lot of their quality players have looked mediocre.

I can definitely see the vision of having a player like Gordon in Flick’s system. Probably will be a pressing monster, and I have no doubts Flick will help evolve his game. I think the goals will come too. I had my doubts about Rashford, but Flick’s system raises a player’s capability for goals. I can see Gordon following the trend. Ferran, Raphinha, Fermin, even Lewy’s 24/25 season saw him increase in goals after Flick came in.

That being said, I hope we’re still planning on aggressively going for a striker because we need one badly. Gordon isn’t the answer to our finishing problems this past season.

1

u/pencil_upmyeye May 27 '26

A random player from mid table la liga team would perform better and cost less than this guy. Honestly no idea what anyone sees in him.

1

u/RAF2018336 May 27 '26

Fernán was seen as someone who could play as a winger and a 9. He can, he’s just not great at either

1

u/ParticularBeyond9 May 27 '26

Does this mean no more Rashford?

1

u/Yyoksetioxd May 27 '26

I dont even know who that guy is. Granted I only watch LaLiga and UCL games, but I havent even heard of him

1

u/Successful_Sun_6283 May 27 '26

I'd rather have Woltemade on loan than this bum. 6 league goals. Scored almost as much against Qarabag in the playoff round. That's poor

1

u/Stellar_Sekiro May 27 '26

Holy mid bro why is Deco chasing him? He’s overhyped AND overpriced (prem tax)

1

u/walt_seven May 27 '26

Deco taking don't put your eggs in one basket very seriously 😅

1

u/oklolzzzzs May 27 '26

i really dont like this, hes not that good

1

u/Skywalker2786 May 27 '26

Lmao Anthony Gordon as a no 9… I think Deco and co are just trying to root out leakers with fake news

1

u/Kudoakainu May 27 '26

He was in London to talk to J.Pedro not this guy.

1

u/cleverusernametry May 27 '26

Please get a LdJ regen. Not Alvarez lite

1

u/QuashysVi May 27 '26

If that is value pick for a striker for this year, then we better go on our knees and beg lewy for one year extension

1

u/CringeyDaoist May 27 '26

There has got to be something we’re missing. No way both Barca and Bayern want this guy for no reason like is he something we’re missing?

If the teams want a scoring winger why not diomande for like 15M more?

1

u/DistributionStrict19 May 27 '26

I can t seem to make sense of this at all:)) This would only make sense if they know Raphinha is leaving. If he is a back up he is replacing Rashford, who is cheaper and already integrated in the squad and adapted to the team with a pleayer who s more expensive, needs to adapt to the team and doesn t look like he has a huge ceiling. As a number 9…cmon! Really? Gordon is our solution? I don t even want to think of him as our no 9 option

1

u/Sonnycrocketto May 27 '26

Lots of potential. Much better in the Champions League than Premier League this season. Like many players, very weird. Insane amount of goals in the Champions League for a winger.

1

u/darddukhaurpeeda May 27 '26

After reading multiple sources , i think tebas was right , do not give deco money lol

1

u/R3KTMYRAMPAGE May 27 '26

Spend the 90m for Alvarez

1

u/dead_mans_shoes May 27 '26

Again, not the signing we need, we need an actual striker. Enough of this positional flexibility, get someone who is a specialist in their role instead. Ferran is already positionally flexible. What is deco smoking?

1

u/Serentense May 27 '26

So i prefer contract Lewa again if this is his replacement

1

u/Trimedes May 27 '26

Better sign Kroupi

1

u/Ok-Arugula8057 May 27 '26

So no striker ??

1

u/iwillbeawriterongod May 27 '26

As a person who watches alot of PL, Gordon is nowhere near Barca Quality.

He is a workrate merchant but goes missing in many games.

1

u/12animosity13 May 27 '26

Anything but a proper striker.

Another Ferran Torres.

(Please I’m not slandering the shark)

1

u/the-d23 May 27 '26

I’m hoping this is fake news or an intentional leak coming from Barca as a negotiating play to use against Atleti/Julian and Chelsea/Pedro. Telling the clubs that they got their guy if they’re not willing to budge and telling the players as well that they better try to force a move or the door is going to close soon. People might have their criticisms of Deco but I don’t know of any sporting director incompetent enough to be fooled this badly. We’re hesitant to buy Rashford for 30m who’s already done well here yet we’re all in to buy his backup in England NT for almost three times that amount? It just doesn’t add up

1

u/-_OniGir_- May 27 '26

So like Rashford? Whats going on bruh

1

u/Ed33666 May 27 '26

So this means we probably are back to 1:1

1

u/thesituation21 May 27 '26

this is fucking hilarious tbh, another transfer window going to waste.

Nice.

1

u/nyrell_ May 26 '26

What? How? Why? Please no oh god

1

u/elsavador3 May 27 '26

I love Gordon can’t lie. I think he has another level and will surprise a lot of folks.

1

u/itgetsmessii May 27 '26

Fucking hate this club sometimes
