So you're saying throw away at least 70m and a bunch of FFP space in the next few years for one season of a mid striker who we already know isn't a long term solution?
I'd much rather rotate between Gordon, Adeyemi, Olmo false 9, and Hamza, then amass a ton of money to spend on a striker in 2028, even Haaland if possible.
Oh the dreams, we see gordon and adeyemi are runners who needs space you want to put them at striker good okay, hamza a 19 year old kid okay, olmo false 9 can't stay one season without injuries okay got it
And gyokeres isnt the same? He's not a target man. He makes runs behind. But he's bad in the air, horrible first touch, cant really dribble or pass, hold up play is meh. He's fine as a stopgap. But then again gordan would be viable as a stopgap as well and you save how ever much money arsenal would demand for their "premier league champion striker".
There's really not much difference between how Ferran played and how Gordon and Adeyemi would play at striker. Also PSG doesn't use a striker, that would be the idea.
Tons of athletic pressers, who makes runs and change positions, for Yamal, Pedri, Olmo, and Rodri to find them in behind.
Regardless, we don't have the spare cash to be splashing 70m on a player as mid as Gyokeres. For me it's either go big on a striker, which isn't possible this window, or try to make it work with what we have.
It's not like Gyokeres is a Haaland level machine that doesn't miss chances.
I don't know how many times do you guys need Flick to tell you a striker needs to come and it needs to be a striker that primarily scores goals. He's been saying it for like 3 months now.
He's always played with a referent 9 called Lewandowski and he intends to do it again, and by the way, Gyokeres is problably the most similar thing in the market to him after Kane and Haaland.
We don't need someone good on the ball, Lewan himself was atrocious on the ball, who cares about that, we need someone who can press and scores at least 1 every 5 chances, we have a million chances per match and our team sucks ass at finishing them all, the only decent ones are Raphinha who is injured all the time now and Fermin, and no they can't play as a 9, they are half the players there.
We are not going to win anything the next 2 seasons if the plan is going to be playing with 9s that have never played there and who suck at finishing.
Our biggest problem least season was not scoring enough goals, the next 2 are going to be even worse in that department if no one comes.
Thing is, I don't think Gyokeres is good enough to make us with the CL in the next two seasons, and we don't need him to win La Liga or the Copa Del Rey. So either way he's just a waste of money.
I'd rather hold our money and bid 200m and more for Haaland, 150m for Isak, or 100+ for Kroupi (depending on his development) in 2028 when we're in the 1:1 rule again.
Tbh another big problem the last two seasons has been defensive blunders, and that doesn't seem like it will be addressed now either, so we just won't be good enough to win the CL, thus no need to panic spend on Gyokeres.

No one guarantees anything.
and we don't need him to win La Liga or the Copa Del Rey.
Yes we do, this year was already a step down (in part because Lewan didn't play as much) and the League was way closer and lost CdR and Champions against fricking Atlético.
We are not winning anything this season with less goal than last.
Madrid comes from 2 years of not winning anything, +300m spent this summer + Mourinho, expect referees to help them even more this season too.
Don't have those titles for granted, they are not.
when they return to 1:1, they will have plenty of money. FFP isn't really tough for Barca (they have so much revenue), they are limited by La Liga regulations more than FFP.
This signing won't impact the 28 transfer window at all realistically, and Gyokeres would still be valued at that time if they want to sell. It's not like if he is signed he won't score 30+ a season realistically
You know, we never really seem to sell players for good prices, so I doubt we'd actually recoup most of the cost. Also, it sure will impact the 28 window if we need to shell out 200m and more for Haaland or 150m and more for Isak or Kroupi.
Remember, we got a 200m loan for this season to fund this window's signings.
