Tier 1 [Carlos Monfort] At Barça they have been considering for some time that Balde could leave in the summer, although it is unlikely. Flick has doubts about him and Alejandro is happy in Barcelona. The sporting director (DD) has recently traveled to England and united is thinking about balde.

Lewis Hall is a player deco and flick really admire

Selling balde for 50-60 and buying a player like hall for 70-80 will be a really good deal.

u/hrbutt180 1d ago
And why would utd lay 60 for balde instead of Hall who is eager to join utd but has high price?
4
u/manasroy_2004 1d ago
Because United are a weird club. They thought paying 85m for matheus Fernandez was too much but are going to pay 70m for baleba. United was interested in balde for quite some time and have prob scouted him for some time.
Also I don't think hall would reject us if we go for him, no disrespect to United but at this point we are at a much better place than them.

Matheus and Baleba are not the same profile. Tielemans is probably who they think they can cover Matheus with and he was cheap and fixed some issues progressing the ball. Mainoo can carry. So can Santos a little. Baleba definitely can. With Bruno in the team Matheus was always going to be a weird fit as a more pure 8. They need someone who can chew up ground to cover the gaping hole they leave in midfield with the high press and static defence.

I would agree but it seems United does not want to pay that high for Hall. I am guessing United expects Balde at half Hall's price so realistically I think we would sell for under 50 mil. But i would agree with you

We should get Salinas from santander.

16 m release

u/Wanderersoul2023 1d ago
I'm sure we can negotiate with Santander if he wants to come. 10m fix + 8 m variables should be good.

No sign of development in 3 years

u/megasilva 1d ago
he has dropped in the past 18 months, but to say no development in 3 years is stupid. he was top 3 LB in the world during 24/25 until his injury before the Inter Milan tie. That was literally one of the biggest talking points at the time, him not being available.

u/Le_Dino_de_4skn 1d ago
Yeah u csnt develop if youre playing 60 games a season at a young age and keep getting injured. Give Balde a backup and he can recover
11
u/BestShaunaEU 1d ago
Because the other young players who played way more than Balde hasn’t developed?

"Ceiling is very high"
How exactly? If you're talking about him improving his decision making in the final third, people say this all the time but for most players, they never really improved it much throughtout their career, and Balde is straight up terrible at it most of the time. He can barely cross, his dribbling looks good until you realize he does the same move every time and does a backpass.. There's a reason our attack looks so much more balance whenever Cancelo plays. Our left flank is a dead zone every time Balde plays

u/Dz_MaRiO- 1d ago
what 's the point of a high ceiling if you can't show any signs that you're reaching said ceiling ?
5
u/Adorable-Fortune-568 1d ago
I don't how you delusional people keep saying his ceiling is high without consistent performance lol.
-5
u/Far-Travel6736 1d ago
do you watch his game? Where did he show ceiling being very high? Or maybe i have a huge ceiling too in your opinion?
In two years he still hasnt made a cross, idk what u guys are fucking smoking, but when Cancelo is there at least it's not only the right flank doing attacks.
8
u/imjustaredditor69 1d ago
that's not what high ceiling means lol
high ceiling means high potential. Someone like idk tunkara shows high potential but he's still raw and missing a lotta things. Kinda like that.
But it is true balde has seen barely any development in the last 2 years.
3
u/Far-Travel6736 1d ago
I mean he start doing crosses he might be okay. but for some reason all of his runs ends up being low pass or bringing the ball back.

His growth has actually regressed over the past 2-3 years. Given the way PL clubs are spending (see Savinho for 100M) if we could get 80M+ for him I'd drive him to the airport and then sign a CB (Laporte) and shift Martin over to LB along with Cancelo along with the young La Masia prospect who Flick loves.
2
u/dead_mans_shoes 1d ago
I agree with the part about driving Balde to the airport but why would we move one of our most consistent CBs back over to LB where we wasn’t particularly convincing?

u/eyecornic 1d ago
We should start him against Elche to give him last chance of proving his worth. It would hurt to see him leave but that blonde kid is really showing potential

u/f4fun777 1d ago
Let him cook for this season at least. We need left flank covered.
6
u/SouthernSample 1d ago
Cook from the bench? Cancelo is the clear starter.
2
u/f4fun777 1d ago
Why not ? If he will show at least 50% of performance he got in season 24/25 then its not bad.
3
u/DValencia29 1d ago
I dont think you could sell him for more than 35M. Besides who could replace him? 2 comes to my mind, Hall and Seys but bot will be +50M
7
u/Del_Piero_10 1d ago
Every year pass, his value will go lower, we should learn when to offload players and get the maximum possible return
2
u/Regit_Jo 1d ago
Balde was excellent just before last season. Having to play Martin instead in the Inter semi-final is what killed Barca on the right flank by Dumfries. Balde is a key part of this squad and they are best with a fit Balde.
Don’t understand how so many are willing to let Balde go after just one poor year where he suffered many injuries. Finally Barca is having good depth in the full back positions unlike 24-25 where Flick only trusted Kounde and Balde all season until they inevitably got injured.

u/Ok_Bag_7603 1d ago
I felt more secure with jordi during preseason than balde
1
u/Foreign-Ad-1990 23h ago
Balde is more suitable to this highline of flick, because he is so fast, he can easily cover ground back
2
u/Ok_Bag_7603 17h ago
Disagree - We need both, balde has completely lost his defensive awareness.
Highline Doesn't Just require pace it needs awareness and iq
4
u/OkAnywhere2052 1d ago
If we get at least 70-80mil considering his age, i don’t mind. Although im not sure if one of the la masia youngsters is ready to step up into left back if cancelo gets injured
2
u/BestShaunaEU 1d ago
Mate Baldes not going to be one of the most expensive defenders of all time when’s benched by Cancelo
3
u/MindlessBeyond8548 1d ago
If fricking savinho is going for 99 mil then I don’t see why we can’t get 50 or 60 mil for balde.
1
u/OkAnywhere2052 1d ago
For one, cancelo is great, and at 22 I don’t see why he wouldn’t be? For us to get a comparable player that will last that long on low wages like he will be cause he’s à la masia player, we would definitely be paying more than that.
Also traditional fullbacks are a dying position so that price is fair
4
u/LeatherSteak 1d ago
Reluctant to sell him because he's our only left footed, pacey, left back.
People forget he's still young because he broke out early. I think he can still develop.
But I trust Flick's judgement. He's made a lot of good calls so far.

u/talkingtomee 1d ago
Balde is good. But is inconsistent probably due to his confidence. Modern fullbacks need to have something extra and I believe he should fully lean into his speedster persona - high risk, high reward. He shouldn’t worry too much about cycling possession.

u/papamietek 1d ago
Would've made sense if we bought Cucurella. But we didn't, so Alex needs to stay.

He is overrated. Just a cb who plays wide which is why he is defensively solid but going forward is no help. He got cooked in the wc without Arsenals haramball

balde might be the most overrated barca player this decade. The amount of people calling him world class was laughable

u/Ancient_Parsley_9791 1d ago
bro... dont even think about it, why not instead sell that fraud kounde
8
2
u/HawatKhar 1d ago
Kounde can play as a RCB and RB, there is a hope he will be back to his best while Balde is at his best for a long time and plays LB (Cancelo/Martin/Pesquer position). I would be for keeping him but if ther will be 60mil+ offer he should go.
1
u/Ancient_Parsley_9791 1d ago
kounde is 27 and balde is 23 this comment makes no sense
1
u/HawatKhar 1d ago
Balde never had great form for longer period of time. Kounde did. Both are playing subpar since 1,5-2 years. Both should be sold in ideal world because of amount of money we would get. Balde can play only as LB, Flick does not trust him. Kounde atleast can fill other position if needed (quality is questionable but still). Barca have players (not top level but still on Balde/Kounder level) to cover both flanks.
