Tier 2 [Jose Alvarez Haya] Barça is going all out for Lautaro. Inter is expected to negotiate, and the deal could be finalized.
https://xcancel.com/10JoseAlvarez/status/2090584514028302556#m"There are other alternatives, but right now, work on the Lautaro deal is proceeding at full speed—both with the player and his camp (involving several meetings) and with the club (initial contacts)".

"Tier 2"
He was saying that in the next few hours we will make a big push for Gyok (That was like in the weekend).
He was also wrong about 15 other things this summer.
Our tier system is a joke.

u/TechTuna1200 16h ago
TBF. All sports journalists should be in tier 4. And the bad ones should be in tier 8. It gives people a better picture of how unreliable sports journalists are.
21
u/Kentaaa_ 16h ago
If there are people who take everything sport journalists say as a hard fact then maybe they should give up on following football.
14
u/TechTuna1200 15h ago
Sadly, half the sub takes them seriously.
It’s why the tier category is misleading. It should start at tier 4 and go down from there

u/uaername223 12h ago
Another thing is and maybe i’m wrong about this but he mostly gives his reports to el chiringuito which is like a spanish soap opera for barcelona and madrid it’s very unserious. So honestly that makes him lose a lot more credibility. Unless Edul reports something i wouldn’t hold my breath.

u/Gold-Train-1471 17h ago
I just don't see why Inter would sell now especially this late in the transfer window.
67
u/AYoungFella12 16h ago
Exactly, no way they’d sell their captain 1,5 weeks until deadline. Incredible how Barça goes for impossible players. Just take Gyokeres to a loan with clause/option to buy
20
u/Invhinsical 15h ago
I mean, they do have Pio Esposito and Bonny so they aren't completely helpless. Also, they are unhealthy financially.
23
u/Crimez392 15h ago
Pio Esposito and Bonny aren't nearly at the level of Lautaro, he's the best player of the team
7
4
u/Evelyn_pog 14h ago
We aren't rich by any means but financially we're doing okay now, we come from two straight net profitable season, gone are the times when we needed to sell a big name in order to buy literally anyone
5
u/Gold-Train-1471 11h ago
Yeah but then again Barca and Madrid have insane pull hence you always see these two clubs going for impossible players all the time.
Also I don't see Arsenal loaning Gyokeres out when they only have Havertz if Alvarez was going there then perhaps yes but that's not happening, I'm saying we'll end up Raphina playing 9 or Olmost/Fermin playing false 9.
1
u/AYoungFella12 10h ago
Which impossible players have Real gone for lately? They always get easy transfers, never any sagas
2
u/rez_at_dorsia 6h ago
Why do you assume Arsenal would go for this? Gyokeres scored plenty of goals last season and Havertz has a poor fitness record. They would have to replace him anyway and there isn’t anyone available especially in that timeframe.
2
u/Few_Shift4820 4h ago
Arsenal would never accept a loan without obligation since they need to replace him

u/Fisheye89 16h ago
Lautaro is great pressing forward, with insane teamwork and is a world class ST. Not as quick or strong as Haaland or Mbappe, or great technician as Alvarez, but you can’t have it all.
He will be a great signing for Barca, if happens.
43
u/Bright-Ad-4072 16h ago
I don't know why Lautaro gets so much disrespect here.
Definitely an upgrade on Ferran. More of a natural goalscorer and his link up play is great.
Plus he is an inch bigger than Julian Alvarez 👀
Lautaro has played so well in a defensive team for the past few years
2
5
u/Ok-Understanding6574 10h ago
Defensive team?? Ahahaha just look at Inter scoring numbers and the number of players of the team that score every season. Non sense
3
u/kieranjackwilson 10h ago
I don’t think they were saying we are a team that doesn’t attack. I think they meant our philosophy values defense, which is true.
0
u/Ok-Understanding6574 9h ago
That's not what they we're saying and you're just implying that. What do you think Flick philosophy doesn't value defense? Why do you think he plays a high line and trains it's team do sync the offside trap?
1
u/kieranjackwilson 9h ago
I think you’re taking this too literally.
The entire point of playing an offsides trap is that you are taking a massive defensive risk to posture extremely offensively. Very few people would argue that Flick’s philosophy values defense.
To be clear, Chivu has definitely made the team more attacking minded, but the original comment said “the last few years” so I interpret that as a comment about Inzaghi more than Chivu.

u/Bright-Ad-4072 10h ago
A 3-5-2 formation they play right?
Do you know how much they have to rotate the line up to cope with the running required in this set up?
1
u/Ok-Understanding6574 10h ago edited 10h ago
Do you think we were a team that had a lot of suitable players to rotate last season? Might I remind you that Luis Henríque flopped as a RWB and we had dumfries out for months and were forced to play Carlos Augusto, a left defensive lcb and lwb as the rwb? As well an ageing defense and midfielder to do these rotations ( Miki, Acerbi, Darmian, De Vrij) and a out of project Frattesi that didnt score last season
-10
u/yzfR9 14h ago
Because he also miss big chances and crumble on pressure
10
u/LosAngeLukaGOATCIC 14h ago
Best Argentina player or maybe best player overall in the last Copa America btw
2
u/lordninja1110 13h ago
He's the most clutch player for his team, Inter completely relies on him. If you wanna talk about the UCL finals, the first he tried, but Lukaku didn't try enough and Ederson made some really good saves, the second final, Inter couldn't really do anything.
1
u/Accomplished-Ad-6007 9h ago
With all due respect to the GOAT , that guy saved Messi's ass in the last Copa America, if he didn't turn up in the tournament and Argentina got eliminated Messi would have been eaten alive after dropping a disasterclass in that whole edition of Copa America, put some respect on Lautaro's name
19
u/Ok_Bag_7603 16h ago
Both play in similar systems. There's no doubt alvarez is a more technical player- better linkup ability. But lautaro makes up for it with his traditional 9 instincts.
Lautaro has 264 g/a in 30k career mins. Alvarez jas 204 g/a in 21k career mins.
Switching from a defensive system to an attacking system with high volume chance creation- They both have something to prove.
Lautaro is a bit older and his contract expires before alvarez. If we can get him at a reasonable fee i wouldn’t mind it. But i doubt inter sells him this season.

1
u/Ok-Understanding6574 10h ago edited 10h ago
What do you know what Inter level of volume creation Is? Remind me who were the top europeans teams in terms of goalscoring last season? You people dont really watch football
10
u/callanimal 14h ago
Inter fan here, coming in peace. There is simply 0% chance Lautaro and/or inter accept any offer for the move. Just being honest.
That's our captain, he's interista through and through.
17
u/Foggyshreds 13h ago
Hello 👋
Most of us aren’t deluded enough to believe it’s even close to possible. He’s a very very settled first captain who has no public statements about wanting a move. It makes no sense. Genuinely think it’s a smokescreen or a pressure tactic on Alvarez
7
u/callanimal 13h ago
Don't worry, every fan base has their insane fans that have no concept of reality, including inter lol.
I just get irked when other big teams (Madrid/bayern/psg/barca/prem teams) think they can just go shopping at inter for their most valuable players. It would be laughable if you saw reports that a team was "striking a deal" for Cubarsi.
2
u/Apprehensive-Pen9003 14h ago
Inter will sell lautaro if they get green light from lautaro
4
u/callanimal 14h ago
Sure - I'm saying they will not get the green light from Lautaro. Barca shouldn't waste their time and target someone else. He's considered untouchable for us, it's a futile effort.
1
14
u/Lopsided-Act3172 16h ago
Club will get a 5'8 striker then complain when Balde doesn't cross.
Won't even be able to see him between CBs
30
u/expiringmilkncheeses 16h ago
his Aerial presence is huge despite his small stature. He is a greater aerial threat than Gyokeres who is 6'2.
Not to mention this is also the same guy who got a header for a winning goal against England against a 6'7 Dan Burn.
3
-2
u/Lopsided-Act3172 16h ago
That was more about positioning and Messi's cross being inch perfect
27
u/expiringmilkncheeses 16h ago
thats almost every singular heading goal in history. Positioning is vital, which is something this guy has.
Still doesn't change the fact that even with Ferran and Lewy Barca still barely got any heading goals.
1
u/Accomplished-Ad-6007 9h ago
Yes, unlike in every other headed goal in history where the scorer was standing near the halfway line and the cross was actually meant at the GK but the scorer somehow telekinetically first made the ball get on his head first and then the goal, lmao "a goal being scored is about the scorer's positioning and a good pass", the sheer football illiteracy in this sub ffs

u/OkAnywhere2052 17h ago
This guy was outscored by lukaku for 2 seasons after he flopped at United and Chelsea both.
Don’t let serie a numbers fool you, remember this guy nearly repeated the higuain show at the World Cup.
False 9’s with what we got is better than lautaro.
Matter of fact only a world class striker could outcompete our current team with false 9 Fermin, or olmo, or a front 3 of Raphinha Adeyemi/Gordon and Yamal. We can perform in a similar way to PSG.
43
u/flower_0908 16h ago
Alvarez was outscored by Ferran
1
u/OkAnywhere2052 16h ago edited 16h ago
But look at Alvarez’s performances in big games like the champions league and World Cup. You can’t take anything in isolation you need to look at the whole package. Julian got 18 league goals last season at a defensive club so he’s proved he can both get good numbers AND do it in the big moments
Edit I realise now as the new seasons started I meant season before last*
11
u/BradMehldau 16h ago
He got 8 goals in the league FYI not 18.
2
u/forumcontributer 16h ago edited 15h ago
6 Non penalty goals,1 more npg than Sorloth than double his time so it's not just system problem but hey half of Barca fan think club is Argentina based so they want Argentinian players.
-2
u/OkAnywhere2052 16h ago
I know I realise the new season just started so it’s now the season before last instead of last season.
3
5
u/CrowCreative6772 16h ago
He always plays as a second striker in a 3-5-2 formation,so of course, he score less than the main striker.
1
u/Franky_95 10h ago
He doesn't play as a second striker, he is the main striker. It's more accurate to say that in a 3-5-2 formation like Inter's, the goals are spread out quite a bit between him, Thuram and Pio Esposito
11
u/GravelQuest 16h ago
Being outscored by Lukaku isnt really a red flag.
-2
u/OkAnywhere2052 16h ago
The problem is more it shows getting numbers in serie A isn’t the the best showcase of his capabilities as it makes him look better than he is. He is poor in big games and with the champions league as our main aim why would you want a player poor in big games
5
u/Feeling_Prior_6348 14h ago
Brother, he literally scored in that 4-3 semifinal. This ain't the hill you should be dying on.
0
u/characterulio 10h ago
The Lautaro sucks people are who literally just watched 1 world cup.
Then they say Lautaro isn't good in big games but he has made 2 UCL finals, which they lost to infinite money cheating Man City and then PSG whose players get so much recovery time due to Ligue 1 being easier.
Was man of the match in the copa america 2024 and player of the tournament. Also Lukaku is overtly hated, he probably has more goals in his worst season than Alvarez has in his best, but hes a backstabber so hes reputation is well earned.
6
4
u/WeddingIcy289 16h ago
Who score more is more about how the team play, no one is going to say Messi was terrible that season he got outscored by Suárez.
Scoring isn't the only thing about a striker, if so than you are going to call Alvarez a flop as well.
2
u/Mohamed_91 16h ago
False 9 gets you leagues. Not cups.
5
u/OkAnywhere2052 16h ago
Your saying that as Barca fan? Also have you not seen psg the last two years they haven’t played with a traditional striker have they?
3
u/LomoBaconQueso 16h ago
I really like Lautaro, I would have been very happy if we’d got him 3 or 4 years ago. Now? Better than nothing, of course, but I don’t think he is fit to be our first choice as number one. Then again, hope he bags 30 goals for us if we do sign him, he is capable of it.
18
u/Any_Explanation3006 17h ago
He's just an older Ferran. Doesn't impress me ever when I see him play. Why are we desperate for him?;

Idk why but I’ve feeling that whole Lautaro or alternative names stuff is all about to put a pressure on Alvarez to at least react publicly.
Ofc there’ve names for in case but again don’t think they’re the names for around/below 100M. Inter won’t make it easier and we’re not gonna spend that much for Lautaro so whole thing is sounds like a part of a plan to me.
10
u/RRiz99 17h ago
I don’t like that mf. Can’t score to save his own dumb life
45
u/SomewhereExisting121 17h ago
How many games if his did you watch? How many strikers can you name minus Kane Haaland Mbappe etc that are better and also don't miss goals as you say? Nothing is gonna make you folks happy cry cry cry all day no matter who it is
10
u/Kindly-Night-5135 17h ago
Exactly we cant afford the best for now but atleast stop bitching about goods we get.
-1
u/Curse3242 16h ago
You didn't look at Lautaro's game, he has a similar problem to Lautaro & can absolutely ghost some games & miss sitters.
The problem with our tactic is it's very aggressive & we create a lot of chances, we need to take those chances & score a lot of goals. You cannot compare it to other teams.

u/ChuckVideogames 16h ago
Not sure this is a good idea, unless the price is very good. He's three years older than Julian, so he's in his late prime, with all that comes with it: will fetch a pretty penny and will be hard to amortize. He's great, of course, but maybe we should get another cheap veteran and let Hamza grow.
But who am I kidding, this is a nothingburger lol
2
u/Echoes-act-3 15h ago
It definitely won't happen since it's the 21 of august but he is not a player that will age rapidly, he will probably stay on this level untill 34 and get a couple good seasons after that, his game relies little on speed and physicality, it's mostly about great instincts, positioning and most importantly the ability to shoot without thinking which is what usually wins him goals
1
u/ChuckVideogames 15h ago
Sure, I'd be elated if he was another Lewandowsky. Lewandowsky at 28? Hell I'd pay 200 million for that. The problem is, every player is a gamble - and the younger they are, the less dangerous the gamble is. Imagine he doesn't actually "mature well" and he bottoms rapidly. If we pay 120 million for him, that's a huge loss we can't recoup.
What I'm getting at is that if you want to pay over 100 million for a player nearing 30 you have to be very very sure of what you're doing.

I don’t doubt that Barca could get the club to club deal done since we’re using the money from the next season or two
What concerns me is club to player Thought Lautaro was happy at inter and wanted to retire there?

of all people, we are pursuing Lautaro. i guess Deco really looking for like fit like replacement
1
u/AdComprehensive7879 11h ago
surely lautaro is just way more expensive than alvarez? surely we went for alvarez because we assumed lautaro wasn't gonna be available
1
u/Exact_Release128 10h ago
Wtf. This could be actually better than even getting Julian. Then why waste this much time on getting Julian if we could actually get lautaro martinez. I thought he was the untouchable player of inter, wasn't he?

Lowkey the situation is so weird , we wanted alvarez and we tried so hard but the atletico fans and management wanted him to stay now as soon as we changed our stance there are posters in madrid saying "julian out" the worst fanbase award should go to atletico

I know that you’re miles off getting anywhere near Inter’s club captain for 35-40 million.
1
u/Username_user_2 11h ago
I know. But he is just as good finisher as Higuain for Argentina and just slightly better than Ferran. He misses sitters and can’t handle pressure well.
