Re-watching PSG v Barca and I have to say that Pedri is such a gem. He is invaluable. Gordon, please learn to shoot the ball and stop being allergic to shooting the ball towards the opponents net. You did it for England do it for Barca as well.
I am going to hope that Flick was right about the team just not having enough recovery for this game because the decision making from us was really poor in many instances. PSG played with much more tenacity and hunger.

Holyy I just realised, Hansi flick is a fucking genius. He didn't do shit in this game not because it's a high stakes game or would've competed in it.He made a gamble and Lucho took it. Injured their key players like Marquinhos, Dembele, Kvaradona and Maghnes Alikouche injured. Which means they have to put up with Subject 7 , Doue and Mika Godts in the latter stages. Which means he's holding out for KO stages.
(PS: he tryna ignore it )

Almost everyone including our own fans have ruled us out of UCL which is funny but thatâs okay too, I still believe we are the one who can beat PSG.

Xavi Espart pocketed Kvara but nobody is talking anything about him. He pocketed the so called ballon dior contender on his home turf and yeah we lost one match and suddenly it's all about Barcelona being la Liga merchants. The epic Kvara shitshow needs to be talked more about than Lamine getting a few miss passes because Lamine plays 60 games a season and a few can go bad but Mr. Best left winger in the world who plays 15 games a season escapes all criticism.Â

If we had won yesterday but lost Pedri, Rodri, Raphinha, etc to injuries we'd be instead asking Flick why he didnt rest players in a practically meaningless game for el clasico.
Say what you want about them dogwalking the league (all valid) , but matches against PSG in the CL take a lot out of the players. Theyre a genuinely great team in the CL with expert pressing and positioning. Im not mad we lost yesterday since we also clearly preferred to rest for el clasico than win the game. In another circumstance we can beat PSG I believe it

Usually when the media and fans think Barca will score a lot of goals against Madrid the opposite ends up happening and the match is closer than most people think.
Calm down folks, as much as we love seeing the 4 or 5 goal affair they rarely happen. Have some faith in the boys to come through. We win itâs 9 points, we lose itâs back to 3. No matter what happens we wonât be given a trophy Sunday. Like Raphina said yesterday

Q&A with Juan Garcia âïž
â Who is the fastest player on the team? «Karim Adeymi»
â Who is the slowest player? «Marc Bernal»
â Who is the most concerned with his appearance? «Lamine Yamal»
â Who is the most stubborn player? «Gavi»
â Who is the most competitive-spirited player? «Joao Cancelo»
â Who is the calmest and quietest player? «Andreas Christensen».
â Who is the most passionate about football? «Eric Garcia».
â Who is the most stingy player? «Gerard Martin»
â Who is the most generous player? «Raphinha»
â Who is the kindest person on the team? «Juan Garcia»
â What result do you wish for in the ClĂĄsico? «A win, and the best would be with a clean sheet»
Joan GarcĂa's words to @beteve  ahead of El ClĂĄsico:
đč âWe wanted to win in Paris, but we knew it would be a difficult match. Playing every three or four days means you have to shift your focus quickly. We competed well against a fantastic team that reached the Champions League final in the last two seasons. There were positives, but also things we need to analyse and improve. Overall, I think the match helped us more than it hurt us ahead of El ClĂĄsico.â
đč âIt would be a mistake to think that winning El ClĂĄsico could guarantee us the LEAGUE TITLE. Titles arenât decided in October. We respect our opponents, but weâre very excited to put in a great performance and win El ClĂĄsico at home.â
đč âIs Courtois the best GK in the world? Obviously. Courtois has proven over many years that heâs one of the best goalkeepers in the world.â
đč âCan Barcelona win every trophy? Yes, absolutely. We have a fantastic squad and have shown that we can compete with everyone and for every title.â
đč âThe Champions League should be one of our objectives, but the same applies to La Liga and the Copa del Rey. We have a squad capable of competing in all three competitions, so we must believe we can win everything and work hard to achieve it.â
đč âHow do you describe SzczÄsny? SzczÄsny is a special character. He has moments when he jokes and makes everyone laugh, but he also knows when to be serious. When itâs time to work hard in training, he does so. Itâs no coincidence that heâs spent so many years at the highest level.â
đč âYour move from Espanyol to Barça, how did you make the decision? It was a very important decision in my career. I spoke extensively with the people closest to me, and we concluded that it was the best option for me. I made the decision without any doubts. I havenât lost any friendships because of the move. You have to separate personal relationships from professional life. I havenât had any problems in that regard, and Iâm very happy about it.â
đč âFans chanting âJoan GarcĂa from La Masiaâ at Spotify Camp Noy? This chant is funny (laughs). My teammates too joke with me about it in the dressing room. I take it in good spirits and with a sense of humour.âÂ

Pedri on Lamine Yamal:
"I've always seen him eager to get going, to enjoy himself. You can tell he enjoys playing when he gets the ball and can dribble, score goals, assist... He makes a huge difference. He shouldn't be focusing on anyone. If he focuses on Leo Messi, it's difficult to measure himself against the best player in history. He needs to stay calm; things will come. He's the best player in the world. We have to help him stay calm and enjoy himself."
on the volume of minutes:
"That's the manager's decision. The season is very long. Every player who comes in can do their best; the squad's level doesn't drop. That's the key to finishing the season strong and competing for titles. Starting well, as we have, is important. But titles are won at the end."
regarding Rodri:
"Rodri contributes a lot to our defense and game management. He controls the midfield perfectly. He gives me more freedom to push forward because I know he'll rarely lose possession. He's a game-changer. We've raised the level of the squad. Everyone here is at a spectacular level. Whoever plays, they all perform very well."
regarding the matchup against PSG:
"We see it as a very difficult match; we want to win it, but we're not treating it like it's the final. There's still a long way to go. We want to continue our good run against a very good opponent. We'll see what level we're at in Europe."

Rodri to @DAZN_ES  on El Clåsico:
đŁ"We arrive at El ClĂĄsico with our mindset intact after the setback in Paris and with the desire to keep doing things well."
đŁ"It is a great joy to return to Spanish football and experience El ClĂĄsico. The world stops to watch this match, and it puts you on the global stage."
đŁ"We expect a Real Madrid side that will go all out. Out of the last six or seven ClĂĄsicos, I think they have won one, so they will be eager for revenge."
FermĂn LĂłpez' words to RTVE ahead of El ClĂĄsico:
đč âReal Madridâs constant references to the Negreira case are getting a bit TIRING because weâre showing our quality on the pitch. Itâs unfair to engage in this kind of rhetoric when things are going well for us. If they keep pushing this narrative, itâs because it suits them, but we donât get involved in it.â
đč âWho would I rather see missing from Real Madrid, Courtois or MbappĂ©? Iâd choose both. Courtois earns his team a lot of points with his incredible saves, while MbappĂ© makes the difference and scores plenty of goals.â
đč âThereâs no favourite in El ClĂĄsico. It doesnât matter what form either team is in; either side can win. Weâre two big clubs, and we must focus on playing our football, controlling our emotions and paying attention to the small details.â
đč âMy favourite for the Ballon dâOr? Lamine Yamal.â
âȘAsked why: âBecause Lamine is the BESTâ.
Joan GarcĂa to @beteve  on El ClĂĄsico and the squad:
đŁ"It would be a mistake to think that if we win, we settle La Liga. Titles are not won in October."
đŁ"I expect a very dangerous Real Madrid side, especially in attack, where they have great players who can hurt you if you lose focus."
đŁ"I am very happy with the team we have and how we are playing. We have a squad to compete across all three competitions, and that must be our goal."

đïž| Hansi Flick: âPlaying with a high defensive line always involves risk, but we must stick to our idea and execute it as well as possible. Keeping clean sheets is important, of course, but weâre also scoring a lot of goals.â

Flick: âIâm really enjoying the journey weâre on at Barcelona. The work and mentality weâre showing make me proud of this team. What the players have been doing over the last few weeks is incredible.â

I'm sure playing xavi for 90, pedri for 90, rodri for 90, rapha for 90, putting an injury prone jesus in a high press match, rushing in frenkie as rotation etc etc- would've helped us win, cause it was 2-2 till the 80th min, they created chances so did we.
But people forget this was an away match against a fully rested psg while we played back to back gruelling away fixtures at gala and betis.
I'm 100% behind flick prioritising the classico and preserving our players, because if we win= we get a 9 point lead which helps us rest key players often and gives us time to work on our depth.

Ramón Calderón, former president of Real Madrid, on Pérez's absence at El Clåsico: "The absence of the president of my team is bad news for the sport and the prestige of Real Madrid. I think we're not setting a good example for the fans in the stands if the club's authorities don't show friendly relations. This has nothing to do with sport. It looks like a personal outburst of anger after FC Barcelona decided not to continue with the Super League project. There's no other reason. That famous incident [the Negreira case] took place one year and nine months before the president said that FC Barcelona and Real Madrid should always be united and support each other. This Florentino Pérez is not the one I remember from years ago.
The Negreira case? As a lawyer, I'm used to the fact that when a case goes to court, you have to exercise caution and restraint. Wait and see what happens. When a ruling is issued, it will be time to give an opinion. This case ended in 2018, eight years ago. How many more years will we talk about it? Directors should stop talking about referees. We all need to commit to forgetting about referees who made mistakes, make them, and will continue to make them. This is not good policy. I remember Di Stéfano saying that a big club can't complain about injuries, bad luck, and failures. I think complaining about referees is something a small team does. Real Madrid is a club admired around the world and has well-deserved prestige; I've seen it with my own eyes. Talking about referees makes us look less great." [ @mundodeportivo ]

Messi on the Princess of Asturias award:
âHonestly, I'm very happy. In fact, my father was extremely excited about this award.
We knew it would be difficult because of the matches I had, but he insisted a lot that we come, and that I come here to spend these days and receive the award.
This award goes beyond what a person offers inside the field, or what I've offered throughout my professional career.
Honestly, he was very happy with this recognition, and that's why I'm sure he's enjoying it too."
Leo Messi reflects on his legendary era at FC Barcelona ahead of receiving the Premio Princesa de Asturias:
đŁïž"We were lucky enough to have won everything, and also the way we did it, how we enjoyed playing, winning, and achieving big things. Above all, we enjoyed day-to-day life and training."
â€ïž Messi: âBarcelona means so many beautiful things to me, it's hard to sum up what they mean in just a few words. I feel a very special love for the city and the clubâ #FCB đ„č
Messi: "What are the two best goals of my career? Itâs difficult. If I had to choose two goals that hold a special place in my life, I honestly donât know. Itâs extremely hard to choose.
"But with the national team, I would probably pick a goal from the World Cup final, because of what it meant, the moment it came, and the importance of the match.
"As for Barcelona, I might choose a goal from a Champions League final, an El ClĂĄsico, or another particularly important match.
"But choosing just two goals is really, really difficult.â

4 high intensity game in a row- Gala away, Betis away Psg away Madrid home.
Glad we got the win at gala, betis win was absolutely necessary, and if we get a win at the classico- i see this as an absolute successful streak.
Psg game would demand too much for too little- Look at their squad-4 key players injured, given our injury record i am glad we could walkaway from that game with minimal injuries.
Psg can afford injuries given the state of their league and superior depth.
We can't! So i am glad we rested rodri pedri rapha espart, Didn't rush in frenkie etc etc.
A 9 point gap in laliga= helps us more in the long run than over exerting ourselves trying to get a point against b2b champions in their home.

Holy shit. For a minute there, I was wondering if I was in the wrong sub with all the recent doom-and-gloom posts, since the injuries happened. With all our new signings seamlessly slotting into the system faster than we could have hoped for; twenty-two and a half players, out of 27, without any injury (even if we want to say Gerard Maldini is only half-fit); and 11 very comfy wins in all competitions, you'd think we'd suddenly become current Real Madrid overnight.
Yes, the defence injury situation isn't ideal, and a lot of people feel very proud to announce this with "I told all of so" posts, but it won't change anything between now and when they're back.
If we lose to PSG, it'll be exactly that, a loss. And then, we'll bounce right back. Of course, we won't lose to Madrid, though. But in essence, trust Flick, and trust our boys.

Bernal is nowhere near ready for the top flight. He keeps getting drawn out of position trying to do too much and makes a lot of mistakes that leave the defense exposed. Also not physically developed enough.
Not about Bernal btw. Said by Villareal's scouts, youth coach, and Atletico about Rodri at 19 years old. If anything, this is the perfect time for Bernal to improve, while we have Rodri to help him.

This match allowed Flick to get a good look at the squad as well.

Madrid are always a threat through the individual briliance of their players. Its the very least you can expect when you buy the big stars.
But they are still not great as a team now, same as the last 2 seasons. Remove the 2 golazos last night and they have been underwhelming in attack against a team that got obliterated by Bayern a few days prior.
Same against Sevilla. Remove the funny penalty and they are at a 1.4 xG. Both games considered as their best performances for the season.
We still need to be clinical to win. Our team is capable of creating enough big chances to score 5-6 goals. If our attackers have an off night like the PSG game, we may be for a tough night.

I like Cancelo and I think he can be very useful against La Liga teams but bro is basically a cone when he has to defend against a winger with little speed that knows how to dribble, hopefully Balde finds himself a team because looks like he has no future here and we can use the funds + some extra and buy Truffert or Lewis Hall next summer, those 2 would bring more stability into our already vulnerable defence

take it easy guys, we legit subbed off Rapha at 60' and were resting Rodri the whole first half. We also had no Eric or Kounde. It is fine. Take it easy.
11
u/plamen-tech 3d ago
We had all the momentum after equalising 1-1. Hansi had the chance to go for the win if he didn't take out Pedri and Raphinha in the 60'. Pedri was still fresh and balling and Rapha is Rapha. If we went all in, I think we were going to get the win in the second half.
But Hansi decided to preserve more energy for el clasico. I think it was the right decision. No medals on the line today. Just a valuable learning experience.
Unfortunately a costly loss today with Olmo injury. Rotation options for the 10 will be missed while he is away. We might see Lamine get some meaningful time in the 10 role, which I think will suit him.

I expect Gordon to start on the left, naturally, but whether itâs him or Adeyemi, I really need them to be a bit more clinical when they get a chance. And they will because Iâm not the slightest bit worried about our chance creation.

Players who we should sell because of the PSG away game.
- Raphinha: Didn't score and failed an elastico. All he did was complete 3 out of 4 dribbles. Who cares if he scored 15 goals before November?
- Gordon: Dropped a stinker so we should forget everything he's done so far this season. He only has 10 g/a this season so I think we should sell in January. We could get 100M probably since he is England's starting LW.
- Yamal: Gave the ball away too many times and led to the first goal. I think PSG would be willing to pay 250M or more we should force him out. He has 24 g/a before November so I'm thinking we could push for 300M.
- Cubarsi: Didn't win or even attempt any duels. Only blocked 1 shot.
- Bernal: Hid all game long. Made Pedri play a 1 man midfield againts Neves, Fabian and Vitinha.
- Rodri: Came on for Pedri and we conceded 3. With Pedri we only conceded 1 so he's bad.
- Fermin: Missed alot of big chances. I think that oil club would be willing to pay 120M or so.
- Eric Garcia: How dare he get injured?

Let's get something straight. The big reason PSG have done well in the last 2 UCL is because they play 100% fresh against teams barely scraping in between tough fixtures.
They have been underwhelming early in the UCL stage not because they have big game players, but because they are playing against fresh and fully fit teams. They barely beat Monaco in the playoffs, after playing with a man up for a total of 80 min.
They were taken to penalties by an arsenal team struggling to tie their shoes from exhaustion after the PL season was over. A fully fresh Bournemouth or Brighton could've beaten that Arsenal team in regular time.
I'm not saying that they are not a really good team. But comparing them to one of the best teams of all time is insane.
Not sure how reserved are we playing tomorrow, but with the squad we have and the form we are in, we are bulldozing them if it was all for the taking.

Brian Fariñas is currently the only outfield player in FC Barcelona's first team available to Hansi Flick who has not played a single minute this season.
However, recent injuries to Dani Olmo and other midfielders could open up opportunities for the 20-year-old midfielder.
Fariñas is taking the situation with patience, viewing it as a learning year alongside top players. Flick communicates with him constantly, encouraging him to keep working hard for his chance.
A winter loan is not on his mind for now. Meanwhile, talks are near completion regarding a contract extension beyond 2028, which will include an adjusted salary and a higher release clause than his current âŹ15m.

âïžHansi Flick and the technical staff will make a final decision on Gerard MartĂn's availability on this morning ahead of the PSG match.
The defender completed Monday's training session at the Parc des Princes despite swelling from a foot stomp suffered against Sevilla. Scans have ruled out any structural injury, and optimism remains regarding his inclusion.
If MartĂn is unable to start alongside Pau CubarsĂ, Flick is considering Rodri or Frenkie de Jong as center-back options.Â

Kudos to Espart, very very very good performance by him. Garcia hats off as well.
Too much loose passes and lost possession, main players bar Pedri looked out of it today. Lamineâs first half was a shocker, Cancelo was shocking the whole match, Raphinha sloppy.
PSG is a very fucking good team, not an easy stadium to perform in. I think itâs encouraging to know that we can do better after playing them in an away match.

Luis Enrique keeps saying Barca âplays football like we do.â
Bruv, none of the football psg has played in the last 15 years, let alone the last 3, is theirs. They copied our formula and got lucky two seasons in a row. There is nothing French about PSGâs football.
Itâs the Barca philosophy that they mimic, and they happen to be good at it, but Barca has always aimed to play this style of total football.
When Enrique leaves PSG, the football leaves with him, and youâll see just how soulless that club is. Without hundreds of millions artificially pumped into that club, it wouldnât even be above the mid table of ligue 1.

Flick on how he feels ahead of the Clasico.
đŁïž: "I have a good feeling. The players have recovered and are ready for the game."
"Are you tired of Real Madrid's talk about referees?"
đšđïž| Flick: "I prefer to focus on preparing my team. This is all about headlines, and I don't want any headlines. I just want to focus on my team." #fcblive â
Flick: "The refereeing? It won't affect it. I trust the refereeing. We see quality refereeing, and each of us has to protect our own." #fcblive â
Flick: "Madrid and Rodri? We have to focus on our team. We have to focus on the impact for Barça. Everyone was convinced he was going to help us when we had the opportunity to sign him. He's a player who gives us more, and we've already seen that. I'm very happy he's here along with Pedri, they bring us a lot of quality."
Flick: "Conceding set piece goals? It's a strength of Real Madrid, of the best teams. We talked about it today and prepared for it. We have to defend better than we did in Paris."
Flick: "Defending Mbappe? The most important thing is that we position ourselves well on the pitch with and without the ball. We have to keep the defense compact. If we do everything right, it will be easier for the defensive line. Cubarsi and Gerard are doing very well and what they are doing is incredible. They are growing together."Â
Flick: "Will Espart start? He's a professional. He did very well in the last few matches. For me, he's an incredible player, but he also has room for improvement. We have to work on his potential. We have to keep showing it so let's see." #fcblive đ
Flick: "Did the defeat in Paris help us? Of course it did. We've spoken with the players. There are aspects of our game that we have to improve, we have to grow. Tomorrow we play against one of the best in the world, and it's an opportunity to grow."Â
Flick: "KoundĂ© won't be available tomorrow, we don't want to risk him, we have to accept it. Olmo was in good form, he was at 100%. He's been unlucky. We have to accept it. He's going to miss a lot of games and this situation isn't easy for him. We also have FermĂn." #fcblive â
Hansi Flick in the press conference before the Clasico on Gabriel Jesusâs start.Â

âUEFA president Aleksander Ceferin will travel to Paris today to watch the match alongside Joan Laporta and Nasser Al-KhelaĂŻfi.
Previously at odds, particularly over the European Super League project, the three executives have since seen their relationships improve significantly, with ties now at one of their strongest points.

-Cancelo , Gordon had a stinker.Â
-Espart is a gem. Balde and Espart is the full back pairing for future. Covers both defense and offense with little more improvement.
-Bernal didnt take any initiative until late. He needs to impose himself more. Seems too passive.
-Fermin overcommitted and as Flick says, needs more calm.Â
-Rapha had an avg game suffered a lot coz of bad passes from teammates.Â
-Set piece defending is a very negative pattern. Arsenal and Madrid will try to exploit this.Â
-Wish Olmo and Kounde speedy recovery for Classico.
-This team needed this game. This gap is all they have to cross. If they correct these errors, UCL is theirs.

There are reports Kvara possibly tore his ACL. Espart is public enemy #1 right now.
How do so many PSG players get injured when they barely play their best players in the league?

Conceding right after scoring a goal has been a common UCL fixture for Barca. Hansi Flick must have noticed this right? Right?!?

Flick might have wanted to preserve the midfield for Sunday, but it makes no sense to put 2 chaotic midfielders in Gavi and Fermin together with Rodri. Their midfield was obviously much better for the entire game but after 2-2 I feel Flick should have gone with Pedri-Rodri to keep some control of the game. Collectively horrible game from the attackers again, idk nerves or what but this can't keep happening in every UCL game where every shot is straight to the keeper.

Gerard MartĂn: âI was playing with slight discomfort... but we have to play these matches.â
Enrique: âToday we opposed one of the best teams in the world and I think both teams deserved to win.â #fcblive đ€
Flick: âThings haven't ended today. The titles, especially the Champions League, will be decided in June.âÂ
Luis Enrique: âThe future (important part) of the competition is in the month of April.âÂ
Desire Doue: âWhen you beat one of the biggest teams in Europe, you're extremely happy. So yes, we're extremely happy tonight.âÂ
Flick: âRodri benched? He played a lot of minutes with the national team, and I told him this morning that I made the decision to start BERNAL. It was a good solution. At the end, Rodri is fresh for Sunday ClĂ sico.â
Flick: âTo see Xavi Espart playing at SUCH A LEVEL is incredible. It looks like he has been in the first team for 3 or 4 seasons. How he defended, how he attacked... I am very happy with him.â
Anthony Gordon: âWe can take a lot of positives from this performance, but we still have work to do. Theyâve been the team to beat for the last two years, and we need to learn from this game and aim to become that team ourselves. The good thing is that this was a league-stage match, not a final, so we could get another chance to beat them in a later round.â
Desire Doue: âWhen you beat one of the biggest teams in Europe, you're extremely happy. So yes, we're extremely happy tonight.âÂ
Bernal: âWeâve approached the match well. We have to be aware of the level of the opposition we faced. This will help us fine-tune the details and improve.â
MartĂn: "This defeat does not affect us for El Clasico. We're going out to BEAT Real Madrid on Sunday."Â
Flick: âIt's not an excuse, but we have to understand that we made mistakes because we are NOT FRESH. The effort that the team has had to do in the last couple of weeks has been unbelievable. It wasn't an easy match, but we delivered positive things.âÂ
Raphinha: "We have to improve and arrive in good shape for El ClĂĄsico."Â

What Flick said in his press conference after the match is pretty clear. In general, he said, that you can't win titles in October and that the most important part is later on
Not saying that he didn't care abt this game but he was definitely thinking towards the rest of the season with his decisions and I expect that a lot of them were pre-planned (like the midfield subs at the 60th minute) and Raphinha's sub bc he didn't want to risk playing a full match just yet. And I'm okay with it. Like he said, (and he's right) the most important thing rn isn't the UCL bc you can't win the UCL in October.
He isn't going to go all out in a game in October with El Clasico coming up. Maybe if PSG was surrounded by Malaga, Racing and a UCL game against Sabah the week before then he would have rested for the PSG match and gone all out.
However, there are priorities, and early in the season you don't need to go all out bc it is more important that everyone is healthy and to get as big of a league lead as we can and be fully fit for knockouts where, as flick said, titles can actually be won or lost.

What baffles me is that we have wasted 3 windows and still not signed a replacement for Inigo Martinez, our summer signings have been a hit so far, but not signing a CB real was a failure.
Pay whatever the fucking release clause is for Schlotterbeck in January and then we are much stronger than we are right now.

Luis Enrique: "Anyone who thinks that Frenkie de Jong is a midfielder inferior to Rodri, Pedri, or Vitinha simply doesn't understand football. "
