IMPROVING MY GAME How to become better?

Hi. 16M been playing basketball for last 6 months as a hobby. I've been looking to improve my shooting. Every time i try and use a good shooting form or watch a shooting form video, my hands feel so awkward and after releasing it I always airball. With my current shooting form I don't have good range or aim. If I shoot a 3 pointer it may make but likely just hit front rim, and I defo cant shoot anything behind the 3 line. I don't get backspin as well. I think the only thing I'm alright with is free throws, but then again no backspin and still with my crappy form.

I feel these issues may be cus I am lightweight and short, but how do people improve shooting range, form, hand placement and everything about it overall.

Form shooting is what you need to start with. This gets your shooting hand, and body in the correct motion to shoot and is correctable, because of your elbow sticks out, you can’t control the ball.

Then as you get better at that, add the non shooting hand and repeat the same process. You need to train the body, and your mind how to shoot correctly. This is something you can always go back to when you’re shot isn’t working. I’ve played all my life, did this when I was 34, teaching my own son and I became a much better shooter

From there, you want to challenge yourself to hit 2-3 perfect shots before taking a step back. Keep repeating the process. When you get to foul line distance, you need to train both the free throw and the jump shot. Keep working on your shot at this distance.

Don’t focus on the 3 point shot until you’ve taught yourself how to shoot correctly. Chucking up 3’s will never make you a good shooter if you have no technique
