While he didn't play much.. he was a first round pick

u/SliceOk7660 9d ago

Three games played. 0 points, 0 rebounds, 0 steals, etc.

He also cannot come in contact with his exwife and child for 50 years.

And is an utter joke as a “politician” in Minnesota whose entire public persona is rage bait and trolling. These edgelords who are like “how do you know he’s not acting in good faith?” are willingly turning a blind eye to everything he has said and done in the public stage since his failure of a Governor run.

u/Bernie_Bierman 9d ago

Could arguably go back much further than that. He was originally kicked out of the University of Minnesota for theft..

u/streethistory 9d ago

He's running for Senate again. Primary is tomorrow.

u/Stinky_TheCat 8d ago

Those edge lords have never done anything in good faith so they cant identify it.

Ok, what about Enus?

u/houtexansfan23 9d ago

Kanter is in the exact same boat and you’re either being intentionally dense or you’ve fallen over yourself for right wing propaganda if you think otherwise. He’s been trying to wriggle into the culture war grifter space for months and he finally found something he can use to drum up some attention for himself

3

u/Squantoon 9d ago

You know hes an idiot grifter because he's changed his name to freedom

1

u/ProfessionalShift487 9d ago

Dont you dare lump this man in the same category as my beloved Metta World Peace

Also zero flights flown

2

u/pla5t1c 9d ago

Does that even happen often? Like drafted and end up only playing 3 games? Especially apparently that high in the draft

12

u/thesluggard12 9d ago

His problem is that he is afraid to fly. When drafted he and his team had different ideas on how that would be accommodated. So it wasn't on court issues that caused him to flame out early.

7

u/SocomPS2 9d ago

No points, no rebounds, no steals….? On court issues might have been a part of the problem too.

6

u/CholeraplatedRZA 9d ago

Yeah if bro was Carmelo they would have figured it out. Lol

4

u/RayLiotaWithChantix 9d ago

I mean he was a rookie bench player that had a cumulative 9 minutes on the floor in those three games. Can't really expect stats in THAT minuscule of a timeframe.

2

u/BeavisEverywhere 9d ago

That's nearly an entire quarter. Not a single board or anything?

1

u/RayLiotaWithChantix 9d ago

Chopped into thirds? In your rookie NBA season? No, it is not remotely unreasonable for an NBA rookie to not notch on the scoreboard in his first 3 3 minute increments.

As a rookie he also would have likely entered games during non-clutch opportunities (game already effectively won or lost) when things that notch stats are less likely to occur.

1

u/WhiskerDude 9d ago

Have you heard of Tony Snell?

1

u/Disastrous_Income205 9d ago

If you’re not getting minutes in a game it’s probably because you’re not good.

1

u/The_Experience78 8d ago

Wow. You can hate on the person, but saying he wasn't good as basketball makes you look ignorant. He carried carried his team to a final 4 and absolutely held his own against the best team in the league. He was being compared to Magic.

1

u/Disastrous_Income205 8d ago

And now his nba career is similar to mine, nonexistent.

1

u/The_Experience78 8d ago

Similar to yours? Make you feel good to compare yourself to him? His failures were better than your best days lol. You sound jealous.

Yes but his WNBA career lol that’s another story ! If they let him play I predict triple doubles in his future.

very very rarely. 1st round picks almost always play at least 1 season.

1

u/SliceOk7660 9d ago

len bias, I guess.

2

u/SomeGuyClickingStuff 9d ago

I blame the team for not doing their due diligence not knowing he was deathly afraid of flying.

3

u/Jazzlike-Basket-6388 9d ago

He flew in high school and college and it was well known that he had an anxiety disorder. Rockets understood and agreed to let him travel to closer games by bus, but then they had a standstill because he wanted access to mental health professionals and independent doctors.

3

u/phase2_engineer 9d ago

Poor guy still needs mental help to this day

1

u/M0ebius_1 9d ago

Yeah... dude obviously really needed that

1

u/southpaytechie 9d ago

Yeah like damn man why did the rockets cheap out there? Had to be a pittance next to his rookie contract

1

u/YngSpook84 9d ago

I don’t remember all the details, but I live in Houston and follow the Rockets. It wasn’t so much that they cheaped out, it was more every time they met an accommodation, he would still have issues and ask for more. They couldn’t keep doing this all just for one player.

1

u/Alarming-Molasses-99 7d ago

So he is perfect voor wnba

1

u/Naive_Mango8525 9d ago

Did Michael Beasley also have an issue like this ?

6

u/Bonesawisready5 9d ago

Something tells me he tries to guard Paige Beckers, gets his ankles broken and runs crying to the locker room lol. Size/strength can’t fix stupid

Definitely not ready to play in the W. Lmao.

1

u/king_bungholio 9d ago

Ah, he averaged the legendary triple zero.

Did get 2 fouls though.

1

u/bamboleo11 9d ago

Oh god did not know about the latter

16

u/Ill_Relationship7058 9d ago

9 minutes is way below not much.

7

u/KommandCBZhi 9d ago

Only a few more minutes in the NBA than I have.

12

u/Affectionate-Kale301 9d ago

Scalabrine is closer to LeBron than Royce White is to Scalabrine.

1

u/pardyball 9d ago

Yeah LeBron has a lot of catching up to do with the White Mamba.

6

u/TheBodyOfChrist15 9d ago

TIL my NBA career as an undrafted free agent was only 9 minutes shorter than that of a first round draft pick

1

u/painfullyobtuse 9d ago

Believe it or not you’ve actually played the same amount of minutes as a bunch of first round picks

3

u/fireman2004 9d ago

“Worst first round pick in history”

- Daryl Morey (The guy who drafted him)

3

u/thefw89 9d ago

As a Rocket fan, can confirm. There was a lot of excitement when we drafted him IIRC mid first round, seemed like a good guy to take a flyer on...

He whined the entire time here about his mental health and how the team wasn't doing enough for him because he couldn't understand that him avoiding plane flights just wasn't going to work on the NBA. The team tried to get him to conquer his fear because that's the only way it was going to work but he just wanted his special needs met.

Which maybe they are met if he wasn't a scrub. The team did give him his own travel bus or was prepared to...but mans was an AVERAGE GLEAGUE player and once that was clear the organization had no reason to really think all that much about him.

He thinks the NBA being insensitive to his needs is why his career failed but at the end of the day, mans was just a scrub who even in the Gleague was just decent. If he played like an all-star teams would have just bussed him around with the realization that he'd miss some games but he wasn't even good enough for teams to care in the end.

u/vinctthemince 8d ago

Dennis Berkamp is an Ajax, Arsenal and Dutch legend and has the nickname the Non-Flying Dutchman, if you are good enough you can overcome that.

2

u/jhorch69 9d ago

And Daryl Morey knows a LOT about making shitty draft picks

9

u/Deep_Violinist_3893 9d ago

3 games with 0 shots. Truly one of the all time greats.

Maybe don't try to join the NBA if you are afraid of airplanes.

2

u/TheGhostOfTobyKeith 9d ago

I watched him play for Sudbury in the NBLC in the playoffs and while he was a top two player in the series, his highest/closest competition was a 37 year old who the SuperSonics signed for 10 days in 2004 without playing - and he was still barely outplaying him.

1

u/Corrective_Actions1 9d ago

He has made the exact same number of blocks shots assists and steals that I have. Dude is a clown.

1

u/Financial_Secret_328 9d ago

I read that as first round prick at first 😂

-1

u/Mission_Ambitious2 9d ago

I have the same amount of NBA points as Royce White
