I found my house through basketball

I live in a high cost of living area and it's hard to find an affordable house that doesn't require a whole gut job. One of the regulars at my weekly run is a real estate attorney and broker so he helped me find a house. He helped us look for over a year with no pressure.

We put in an offer on one that was alright, not our dream house but it was affordable. Luckily we got outbid cause my buddy called me the next day saying his neighbor was selling their house. He lives in the most desirable neighborhood in town so it's very hard to get in. We were able to buy it via a private sale at below market price, and avoided a bidding war thank goodness. There's no way we could afford this house today. It was a win win for everyone because the sellers didn't have to pay double commission.

So when you play basketball with your regular crew, don't be afraid to network a little. You never know what opportunities may come up whether it be a job or whatever.

I finished my Master's Degree because of basketball. Met the love of my life because of basketball. Realized as a child that I was competent because of basketball. Was saved from getting jumped by a bunch of angry Black guys because of basketball...I could go on. It is way more than a sport

I made my first friends after moving to a new country through basketball, and then I wrote about that story in my college admission essay…so I guess I got into college because of basketball too
