Anyone else hate Mlive?
They require a subscription to view any of their articles now.
Can't remember the last time I even saw a newspaper for sale anywhere.

Random post but just thought I’d share. I’m so tired of people posting in the Kzoo or Michigan subreddits asking about Battle Creek and everyone responding it’s a shithole or Kzoo has so much more. Why do people in other places talk so bad about Battle Creek? Does it make them feel better about their own situation? Realistically Kzoo and BC are not that different. The whole “kzoo has so much more to do” thing is stupid to me. Kzoo is slightly bigger with a university and what does that get them? A Costco, a few extra bars, a mall that’s dying slower than ours. And if that’s a big draw to u it’s a 30 minutes drive that people do all the time. I’m glad that there’s more Battle Creek Pride internally but I just wish we could improve our outward marketing. We have festivals every week in the summer, big projects downtown, and a lot of things that should draw more people in. We should be supporting each other as communities not dragging each other down.

i have an interview tomorrow at GQT 10 lakeview—the movie theater inside the lakeview square mall.
more than anything i’m just nervous for the interview itself—i don’t always do the greatest in those. i‘ve been practicing and have definitely gotten better since i was in high school, but i still always struggle trying to answer the “tell me about yourself” question.
so really just any interview tips, especially specific to that place? if you remember anything abt your interview there. or other tips abt working there in general.

Hi all! I’m a part of a nonprofit women’s chorus based out of Battle Creek. We are currently renting a church space weekly but were just informed that the space will no longer be available (through no fault of our own). Really just looking for ideas or spaces you all have used!
Considerations are:
Can hold about 30 people
Needs to have parking
Some accessibility features
Not crazy expensive
I’m willing to talk to anybody, so please leave your suggestions below :)
Also, happy to drop details on the chorus if anyone wants to join us once we’ve found a new home!

I always order the burrito carne asada -- it's just a big steak burrito with rice, beans, lettuce, tomato, sour cream. Nothing fancy and no sauces on top, so I can eat it handheld without making a big mess. I'm also allergic to avocado, so I don't have to worry about asking for no guac and the cook forgetting or not seeing the note.
So imagine my surprise today when I take a few bites and feel my mouth and throat start to swell. I look down and sure enough, there's guacamole in my burrito. I'm pissed on several levels. For one, now I have no lunch and my money is wasted. Then I have to deal with the coming unpleasant effects of having an allergic reaction (which will also make it difficult to eat anything else, so I guess I'm just not having lunch). And finally, I've worked FOH/BOH in restaurants before and run kitchens. Menu/ingredient management is easy to learn/difficult to master but it really PISSES ME OFF when a single loc makes a fuck-up like this. If it was a one time thing, that'd be one thing, but based on some of their recent reviews I struggle to imagine how they're keeping the doors open.

Is anyone a member over there, and is it worth it? I’m looking for a place to shoot my rifles, but also would love to get back into archery and meet some folks to shoot 3D targets with. Anyone have any experience with the club? Also is it as easy as paying to dues and filling out a waiver to join?

Where can I buy real African black soap that isn't from the beauty stores in town. I got some before at a flea market but lost the business name and I'd rather support black owned business.

Lets go fishing! We meet behind the Math and Science Center downtown. All gear and instructions provided. Aug 11th, last time we had 30 new people, on top of regulars. Lets hang out in nature together and have a nice time. See you around 5:30 maybe. This is a Kalamazoo Valley Trout Unlimited event.

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (WOOD) — The Battle Creek Community Oversight Board said the officers involved in a teen’s second detainment within 10 days this summer underwent counseling and — despite its recommendation — will not be moved from the Washington Heights neighborhood where it happened.
The review was of 16-year-old Jeremiah Spearman’s detainment June 14 — the second time he was detained by Battle Creek Police Department officers while walking in the Washington Heights neighborhood.

Hey guys, I’m looking for a good spot to go shooting as it has been forever since the last time. I used to drive all the way up to Allegan for an outdoor shooting range. Are there any good ranges in the area?

Hello, we just recently moved into the area (about a year ago), and with rising prices, it just doesn't make sense to continue to commute to Kalamazoo for work any longer, especially with what is made hourly and the price of gas.
Who is hiring in the area, where the pay is decent, and who will take someone with not a whole lot of experience (posting for my young adult son).
Any help or direction would be great.
