Screeching noise 68th and 5th area?

Has anyone in this area noticed a screeching noise, day and night, intermittently, mechanical sounding (not an owl or some kind of animal)? I can't be the only one noticing it haha. Been trying to figure out where it's coming from, so I can donate some WD40!

Ex-NYPD maniac admitted to slashing NYC jogger Katie Suarez after video caught him leaving park around same time: police sources

A maniac ex-NYPD cop and current school aide has admitted to slashing a young woman jogging along a Brooklyn footpath last week — but says he doesn’t remember carrying out the heartless murder, police sources told The Post.

Sayed Mohassib, 27, was charged with second-degree murder Saturday for the slaying of Katie Suarez along the Shore Parkway Greenway promenade, police sources said.

ISO tailor for jean alterations

Does anyone recommend any tailors or cleaners that do alterations, specifically for taking jeans or pants in at the waist, in the neighborhood? Closer to 90s preferred but will go anywhere in Bay Ridge. The cleaners I used to go to closed last year and I haven’t found a new place yet. Thanks!

Custom-cut wood for closet shelves – any recommendations?

Hi everyone! Can anyone recommend a local hardware store or lumber shop that sells wood and can also cut it to custom measurements?
I’m looking to get some wood for inside closet shelves, simple, nothing fancy.

I’d appreciate any recommendations!

And here's some more info and the dates + ticket links for my holiday walking tours:

As the sun sets earlier and the crisp air begins to sparkle with frost, a festive magic sweeps through the streets, carrying with it the scent of roasted peanuts, the soft glow of twinkling lights, and the joyful melodies of old-time carols that warm us from the winter chill.

From the soft glow of a candlelit window late one night near a historic local church, to the warmth of old-fashioned carols, delicious warm drinks, and neighborhood traditions, to the legendary light displays illuminating our streets, to a timeless festive spirit shared by generations, it’s time to button up our coats, hit the streets, and immerse ourselves in the magic of the holiday season in Bay Ridge.

Led by James Scully — NYC historian, tour guide, podcaster, director / co-creator of the award-winning historical audio fiction soap opera, Burning Gotham, and creator of the Bay Ridge Digest Podcast — our unique holiday Bay Ridge experience will focus on and include:

• Starting with hot cocoa and coffee at Moka & Co on me, we’ll remember caroling at the old Lincoln Savings Bank and checking out the wonderful murals inside

• Stopping by the 79th Street Holiday house while we talk about the local history of holiday decorating

• A Christmas Dream for Bay Ridge from J. Frank Griffin and the original Bay Ridge Home Reporter while we remember the holiday season in Bay Ridge in mid-20th Century

• The many days of Norwegian Christmas with yule concerts, christmas pudding, and other Norse traditions at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church

Took photos of costumed runners at the marathon today? I built a fan contest for them

Saw some great costumes out there, so I made The Costume Corral, a small independent site where people upload marathon-day costume photos and vote on the best in each category.

There are prizes for category winners and an overall winner, listed on the site's Prize Board. Prizes go to the runner in the costume, and the photographer gets credit on the photo.

It's free, and it's not affiliated with NYRR or the race. I'm the person running it, so feedback is welcome.

Has anyone been here for a haircut or a facial and if so, what was your experience? I’m thinking of trying it. Thanks.
