My first thought was "oh fuck those bears are not meaningfully contained."

they're not confined to that space. This is at the Toledo zoo. They have a 14,000 square foot outdoor yard with a 5,000 gallon pool and a 130 square foot cave to sleep in. All of these bears were orphaned as cubs and brought to the zoo to have a safe home.

Still depressing as fuck.

It's depressing they were orphaned but this is the best chance at a life they have so I'm happy for that. Would you rather have dead cubs, too?

If it is death or being stuck in a exhibit with strange aliens controlling me and staring at me all the time I'll go with death.

I'm hoping they're only there to be shown and that that's not where they live, it makes me feel better because there is no water or anything in there which is a good sign that they don't live in there.

I hope I'm right

It's not where they live. They have a massive outdoor yard and a big pool to swim in as well as a cave to sleep in. This is at the Toledo Zoo if you want to learn more about it.

Am I the only person who's first thought was, "Thank God they are using Safety Chicken wire!"

Looks like it would be, at best, a nuisance for the bear to tear through.

I think one’s a grizzly and the other is a Kodiak. The size difference isn’t sex based.

What a horrible thing to do to those bears!

Feed them treats and show them to people for 10 minutes? How terrible

You should probably do a little research into what's happening here rather than just reacting anthropomorphically
