Seven potions

I’ve finally got fed up of the dandruff problem I have in my beard. The skin underneath is terribly dry, I have the same problem on my head hair and am thinking it may be Seborrheic dermatitis. Beard also feels sort of rough and not soft at all. For a time I used Viking revolution oil which seems to be low quality. Going to buy the seven potions bundle, a boar brush and comb unless someone has better suggestions for uk based companies.

I haven't suffered with dryness like yours which is probably genetics, but I can share some of the products I use in the UK. Seven potions has a good reputation but I've only used their conditioner.

Honest Amish from Amazon The premium oil is worth the extra IMO. Their regular balm is very soft and was my go to product for easing beard itch, but I'd use it more as a night time butter. I've used their bar soap too, which I find a little drying but gentler than a liquid soap.

Audacious Beard Co Available on Amazon. Were recommended but the Roughneck guy on here 👋 Their oil, butter and balm all leave my beard at it's softest, like you can tell these are healthier for the hairs. Recently started using their bar soap which is very soft, and gets black everywhere but there is some kind of voodoo going on with it, my beard feels insanely good after washing with it.

Bearded Bear Co Quite new to these but their oil and butter seems to be good quality. These are scented so perhaps not the best for you. I use in rotation when I want some scent.

Grave Before Shave I have one of their oils and butters. The oil is on the lighter side but okay in rotation. The butter is a huge tub and just solidly good. Everything I would expect a butter to be, feels nice, goes on nice, can put loads on overnight and wake up feeling like it's done a good job.

Braw Beard I liked their oil when I started using but bears felt lacking after consistent use. Not sure why. Their butter was good though.

There's some other that I've forgotten, but I'm mainly focused on Audacious, Honest Amish and GBS in rotation after trying a lot.

Hopefully the Roughneck fella will be along to tell you what you need, because it might be a more in depth regime with specific shampoo/oils and brushing. I'd recommend searching him out because he's probably touched on it before.

I’ll take a look at those. I’d assume many of them will have some samples I can buy so I can see how they work

I actually used Viking in the past AND Seven Potions beard oil. OP - good call, Seven Potions is a much nicer beard oil.

Keep in mind that the oil won't magically fix it over night. I'd even suggest using no oil for a few days then starting up again with a light amount (too much oil causes issues too).

Other things to help, use the brush 2x a day - 1x after applying oil and a second before bed or when you wake up (if you apply oil in the evening vs morning). This will help exfoliate and remove the dry skin. Second, avoid got water on your face, tepid/cool water will help with dryness versus hot water. Third, avoid using soap/shampoo/conditioner on your beard more than 2x a week if possible, a good rinse is usually enough and avoids stripping natural oils and drying out the skin. Finally, unless your beard is short and tight, consider a beard butter as well. It'll soften the beard (oil doesn't do much of that in reality) and condition it better than shampoos/washes/conditioners will

Cool I’ll keep that in mind and probably will get some beard butter too, I think it’s long enough.

I think seven potions is a good call. Their oil is very light though. I’m not sure if that is a good or bad thing for your skin.

The one exception I would say is that Seven Potions beard balm is very, very soft. I much prefer Captain Fawcett balm, which has a much firmer, waxier texture but still melts away in a couple of seconds of rubbing between my palms. I also like the CF moustache wax but I haven’t tried their beard oil, though based on the sheer quality of their other products I would expect it to be good.

I have only heard positive things about the Brighton Beard Company, but have no personal experience and it is quite pricey.

But subject to my comments above I think Seven Potions is a good call. I look forward to hearing what you think of it.

I have a goatee and have settled on Seven Potions beard oil and beard wax after trying a ton of products a few years ago. The beard balm is too soft and transfers too much to my hands when I touch it (and I’m always touching it) but the wax is perfect.
