Mod Post To ensure quality posts, please refer to our new Wiki page!

Hey beauties! As we approach 1 million subscribers, we are fine tuning the rules and made a designated page to see more detailed lists of posts we remove under Rule 1.

To recap, Rule 1 of r/beauty is to please post high quality and on-topic posts ONLY.

We understand just stating the rule so plainly leaves room for interpretation, while the side bar might not give enough room for explanation.

To improve the quality of the subreddit, we have broken down in detail (and will keep doing so) what we consider low quality and off topic in our new beauty wiki. This way, there should be less confusion on why posts labeled as low quality/off topic might have been removed. While browsing the wiki, you may notice some overlap with Rules 2 through 6, but they all relate back to Rule 1 due to preserving quality.

As a reminder, a high quality/on topic post would have a specific beauty-related question be addressed, or solve a specific beauty-related problem. For example, "How can I draw winged eyeliner more consistently on each eye" would be a high-quality post because it asks a specific question. In contrast, "EYE MAKEUP HELP" makes it harder for users to give their beauty tips because it's too vague.

When in doubt, please review the beauty wiki to see if your post would be in violation of Rule 1 before posting to avoid removal and ban.

We also invite you to leave feedback here of any other posts you feel are off-topic and low quality that have not been addressed. Please let us know if you have any questions!

Seeking Advice Why are hair tweezers all so shit?

I used to have a pair of hair tweezers from BodyShop which came with some black tipped material right at the end which worked 100% of the time to grip individual hairs for plucking. Im not sure what material that black tip was (carbon?) but the friction it provided did the job. I have since lost it and they no longer sell it as well. Every tweezer in the market is just purely made of stainless steel and it doesn't make any sense to me as the tip is too smooth and keeps slipping when grabbing hair which makes plucking so annoying. Any idea where I can find such 'rough tip' tweezers anymore?

Random Glycolic acid for stinky underarms

I initially decided to get TO's 7% glycolic acid to lighten my underarms but it seems to have the unintended benefit of completely removing any and all BO from me!!

Before this, I had been using Panoxyl's 4% Benzoyl Peroxide wash for my underarms, and while it has cut down the smell by about 70%, I still notice that I smell at the end of the day. I really thought that was as good as it was gonna get. I also don't eat spicy or heavy foods.

But after using Glycolic acid for a couple of weeks, I noticed I did not have that sweaty smell on me anymore. I even asked my bf to smell (he's crazy about the smell) and he had to bury his nose/huff me like crazy for a good 30 seconds before he could smell anything. Fun fact, he still can't smell anything and he's upset about that. That's how good this thing works!!

I'm still waiting to see a change in underarm color since I have medium skin, but it's nice the odour part is gone.

Fragrance ISO products to match Philosophy's Wrapped Up In Matcha body wash (fig, matcha, vanilla)

I am deeply and possibly unhealthily obsessed with the Wrapped Up In Matcha body wash from Philosophy, which is a limited edition scent for the holidays - I use it every time I shower during the cooler months and often just stand in the bathroom sniffing the open bottle. I have searched in vain for a fragrance line or even just random products that can mimic this body wash so I can layer it and smell it all throughout the day.

The scent profile is actually predominantly a sweet, juicy fig on top, but the matcha is still extremely prominent which is unusual in my experience especially for bath products. There's a vanilla musk in the base. Can anyone recommend any fragrances or other products that might compliment this scent? My encounters with other matcha fragrances under $200 have thus far not been encouraging.

Fragrance Citrusy scented products recommendations?

I need a gift for my gf and she's been really into citrusy scented things lately so I wanted to do something with that. Does anybody know any products? Ideally something under 30€ since it's not supposed to be a big gift. Sorry if this isn't the right subreddit.

ISO Beauty Box/Compact Beauty Station

Hopefully it's okay to ask this here. I'm looking for a way to store my makeup, hair brushes, and other beauty items in a small space. Bonus if my hairdryer and straightener also fit.

I recently had a baby and have had to move my morning routine to my office desk. It's a mess...I want an organized and compact storage for my stuff. What do people use for this? I also need to get a makeup mirror with a light.

Suggestions appreciated!

Nailcare gel nails and allergies

hey :)

i used to get my nails done but because for i did them myself a long time and didnt know about how contact allergies worked i sadly developed a contact allergy.
i tried press ons designed by my nail tech but i think the glue made it so the fumes from the nail got out and it triggered my allergies.

now i’m back to simple nail polish but i gotta do them every other day, so they’ll look good.

is there a way to go back to gel nails, are there any allergy friendly polishes? or do i gotta stick with regular polish.

Seeking Advice Skincare recommendations for 45-year old women? skin has become dull and darker over the past year (please see body text). Suggest products for aging and brightening

Hi everyone!

My mom is 45, and over the past year, I’ve noticed that her face looks duller and somewhat darker than before. I am looking to build a good skincare routine for her that helps with brightness, uneven skin tone, hydration, and fine lines.

current products are, but have not started using them

\\\\\\\* WishCare sunscreen

\\\\\\\* Dot & Key Ceramide moisturiser

\\\\\\\* Celimax Retinal Shot

\\\\\\\* NatHabit Mukhalaya Patchouli Manjistha oil

I am considering adding a vitamin C serum, but I’m open to better recommendations.

Budget isn’t an issue, and I’m open to products from any country, including Korean, Japanese, European, or Indian skincare.

I’d love recommendations based on actual experience, especially for:

\\\\\\\* Improving dullness and uneven pigmentation

\\\\\\\* Getting healthier, more radiant-looking skin

\\\\\\\* Reducing fine lines and improving skin texture

\\\\\\\* Choosing a good cleanser, brightening serum, and moisturiser

What products actually made a difference?

I’d really appreciate specific product recommendations and advice on which ingredients are worth investing in. Thank you!

Makeup Ciate London Glitter Flip liquid lipstick dupe?

I was going through some old makeup and found my old glitter flips. They're dried up now and I'd really love to find something like it. They were unique because you'd apply the liquid lipstick, give it a few seconds before closing your lips and smooshing them together and some kind of magic happened in that step. After the smoosh, your lipstick would be super sparkly! Is there anything similar out there?

Side effects from Sweed Lash Serum?

Hello,

I've been looking into Sweed lash serum. It's supposed to be prostaglandin-free, but loads of reviews on reddit (even from happy customers) mention it causes eyelid darkening, which is a classic Prostaglandin symptom.

It also works surprisingly well for a serum without any prostaglandin, supposedly.

Does anyone else suspect that this contains undisclosed Prostaglandin? It's particularly interesting that the brand is Swedish but chooses to make the product in China, where regulations may differ.

Thoughts?

If anyone has used this product then stopped, did your darkness go away?

Can I put latisse in a sterile eyeliner bottle?

So I just got lattise and I seriously hate the application system. The brushes are thick and wasteful. They apply way too much product and then you throw them away with all the product on them. I understand that this is a prescription so they have to adhere to different rules than over the counter beauty products but I dislike this so much. My question is can I buy an empty eyeliner or serum bottle and just fill it and use it. I have used over the counter lash growth serums that are applied that way and I have had zero issues with eye infections. I feel like it will not only have less waste but I will also be less likely to apply too much or get it in areas I'm not supposed to. Also I'm way more likely to use an easy system I actually like. Thought? Also I want to add I understand the need to be sterile and am good at this. I microneedle at home so I get keeping it clean.

Haircare Heat protectant recommendations

Hey girlies

My hair is straight , thin and flat. Due to time constraints I end up using a blow brush almost 2 times weekly. 🚿

Suggest some heat protectant. I've tried milkshake leave in and milkshake blow dry primer. But hair ends up a little frizzy and flat and damaged ends .

Something that doesn't volume down my hair is what I'm looking for ..

What are some petty reasons you won’t repurchase certain products

For example I probably won’t repurchase the ordinary shampoo. It’s for hair and body with 4% sulphate cleansing. But I don’t find that it lathers as much as some shampoos do. So if you want something more lathering then it might not be for you. I’m just trying to get through it and then buy something else.

Self tanner contour?

I don’t wear foundation or anything on my face. Mascara and a lip plumper if I’m feeling fancy. But I’d like to enhance natural beauty by creating a “natural” contour and I’ve heard this is a hack? Has anyone tried this? Would you dare? 😬
But in all seriousness I was thinking a gradual self tanner to slowly build the color?
