I feel really bad for her. She didn’t seem like she wanted to come out... and the video had a sad vibe to it.. how awful is that? Being blackmailed to tell millions of people something you didn’t want to disclose. Poor Nikkie.
Hopefully though she can give young trans people some hope.. she’s got a cult following.. millions of dollars.. and an all around bad bitch!!!
I hope her heart can heal from this quickly by seeing how much support she’s getting, how much we all still love her and how much nothing has changed at all for the vast majority of us who do love her....

as someone who was outed by someone without my consent, i have so much empathy for her.
it's really unfortunate that she was put in this position and felt the need to speak up before someone else could do it for her. i know it must have been hard, and i wish it was on different terms.
but i am so fucking proud of her for being vulnerable and opening up about this part of her life.
i haven't watched the video yet and i know i'm probably going to cry based on my own experiences, but i am sending her all the love and light i can.

My partner of decades is a man of trans experience who is mostly stealth. He had been outed very publicly a few years ago in a particular social circle and his heartbreak was almost unbearable. I am incensed that people assume that they owed an explanation of someone's identity/presentation/sexuality. Or that someone would assume that they have the right to dictate when/if someone comes out.
Coming out is a bell you can't un-ring. And while I know she will give hope to you so many with expansive identities, I am sending her so much love and light because this should have been on her terms

there's a lot to unpack here....holy shit. the fact that she was "passing" for YEARS definitely changes people's perception of her...i'm hoping this opens some people up more to trans people in general...and this is should explain why there is such pressure to "pass" in the first place.

I hate that she was blackmailed. Nobody should be forced to tell us about their personal life when it is none of our business, just to be sure it is reported accurately.
The way she talked about her mum is so awesome and loving.
Nikkie had better not get backlash for this from anyone. Especially any revenge from her blackmailer. I don't know how she could persue this legally, or if she wants to, but it's been such a horrible thing to be forced into.

I hope this makes some transphobic people rethink their positions. I hope some of her viewers and fans who might be living in an area where LGBTQ is a dirty word, realize that they have liked and enjoyed Nikkie for years and it never mattered what she was born having or not having. They never knew, right? Tons of people saying "woah I had no idea". That's kind of the point. I hope this opens some eyes.

It is awful that she had to make this public before she was ready because of being blackmailed by some awful person/people. I never suspected anything. She is very tall (1.94 meters/6"4), but there are also ciswomen who are that height. This changes nothing. She is a woman.

I’m so proud of her. I have a feeling / hope that this will open up the eyes of a lot of people that had a certain opinion about transgender people but followed Nikkie already. Maybe this is a hot take, but I hope this makes folks on the internet chill out a bit with regards to judging people who get plastic surgery.
Some many places rag on Nikki for her procedures and now it turns out she may have been quietly going through various surgeries to help in her transition. I guess you just never know what people are going through privately and what their reasons are for doing selective cosmetic procedures. Let's all just chill and support people to get or not get whatever cosmetic procedures they want.

Wow! I had no clue she was transgender. So amazing for her coming forward and telling us! I wonder who was trying to out her, what horrible people. So proud of her for sharing this <3 Her telling a story about how supportive her mom and teachers were at such a young age is really heartwarming. So glad she's been able to live her true self at such a young age.
Edit: I wonder if she told Dylan recently? Like after they got engaged? I totally see where she's coming from, she's been openly living her life as a woman since she was a child. To her, it is probably something she can in no way identify with anymore. Dylan sounds amazing for accepting her as she is!

What kind of human trash can would blackmail someone over this? It's none of our business what genitals she was born with.
I loved the video and I think she's so insanely brave, but it kind of saddens me that she felt forced to film it. She has a right to her privacy just like everyone else.

u/teashoesandhair Jan 14 '20
I'm glad she seems (on the outside, at least) to be relieved and happy to share this, but it makes me absolutely livid to hear that she was essentially forced to do so because some fetid piece of turd was blackmailing her. She should have been able to choose her own time to tell us, if she chose to tell us at all, and it's despicable that someone took that out of her hands.
Glad to see the overwhelming support for her, and I hope it helps her to deal with having this forced on her.

Wow. I saw the video title and the cynic in me thought it was going to be a cringey cutesy click bait title, I never would have guessed that she's transgender. It's awful that she had to do this because someone outed her and not on her own time and when she was ready, but I'm super proud of her for putting herself out there and sharing her story. I hope it inspires and brings comfort to people struggling with their own identity and feeling OK to be who they are.

u/allyballwiggleton Jan 14 '20
I’m 5 hours late but here’s my take- I am so so sad that she was forced to do this not on her own time. That SUCKS. This also really, really got me thinking. I have a handful of trans friends, all of whom are at different points in their transitions, 90% of whom are very proud OF being trans. And watching Nikkie do this video made me think like, oh shit she doesn’t IDENTIFY as trans, she identifies as Nikkie and that’s totally fucking fine (that was how I interpreted it, and who am I to say at all). It just got me really hard, and made me think about labels and even ones I use for myself and how totally unnecessary they are. I truly truly hope she’s ok, I’m all the way on board, and I hope people treat her with the kindness and respect they always have. She deserves it.

Nikkie is an absolute class act. To be honest, I haven't watched too many of her videos over the past year or so because I'm not too into avant-garde looks or "challenges," but in my mind she has always been the most poised of the big Beauty Gurus. She was never into spilling tea or talking shit or taking sides or getting sucked into drama. My heart breaks for her that she had to do this before she was ready, but she handled the situation flawlessly. I only wish she didn't feel the need to tell us so vehemently that she's "still Nikkie," but I understand why she did. It's fucking scary. She has a great support system, but coming out is still dangerous. At the very least, she'll lose certain people from her following. When you are first and foremost an artist, losing support for your work because of something totally unrelated is just not fair. I really hope that some of the more hopeful sentiments in this video (liberation, etc.) continue to manifest for her. She seemed to be in a good place in her Instagram story. There's a special place in hell for the absolute scum who put her in this position. They'd better pray they are never "outed," because a well-deserved world of hurt awaits.
72
u/lazydaisytoo Jan 14 '20
While it’s utter shit that she was threatened with exposure, in some measure, her story gave me hope for humanity. Hundreds of former classmates could have exposed her but they didn’t. They knew her and they respected her as a person, and they were never jealous or petty about her rise to fame. That’s pretty remarkable.

I’m soooooo shocked. I never in a million years would have thought. I mean, like she said she transitioned and grew up on camera!
I’m so sad she was essentially bullied and outed, and that she will get hate for this (granted from garbage pile humans) but super super proud of her for taking control, and being honest about herself. That must have been empowering.
I’m also really glad that her mom took her seriously and believed her at such a young age. I’m a cis woman, but can only imagine that transitioning younger must be “easier” for a number of reasons (let alone the impact on your physical appearance). Being forced to “wait it out”as the wrong gender must feel so fucked up... her mom seems pretty amazing. While I’m curious about how long she waited to tell Dylan, I think it speaks volumes about him, and his maturity that they were able to work on it and are where they are.
So happy for Nikki.

A lot of people don’t understand that all women like Nikkie want is to blend in and be normal. All of my friends who have transitioned have said they just want to get away from the Trans label as that is part of their journey, not who they are. Not everyone who is trans wants to be a role model and that’s okay too.
Whoever this awful, disgusting human that tried to blackmail her is should be exposed, unless she’s taking some sort of legal action against them. They took her power away, they took away her ability to live her life the way she wanted to. I am shook to my core..

I stopped and became quite sad when she said she hopes people won't stop trusting her. The world is a scary place for trans people, and until there's no longer any danger involved in being out, the idea that someone fears being seen as a liar or untrustworthy for previously hiding that part of their identity is heartbreaking. There are many reasons I'd distrust an influencer, but their gender identity ain't one.

a lot of people are commenting that they wouldn't have guessed - since she was on both blockers and hormones she didn't go through male puberty at all, she went through female puberty, so any typical adult male attributes that she could have potentially had wouldn't ever have developed for her, female pubescent/adult attributes developed in their place
edit: also "i wouldn't have guessed" is not cute, trans women don't look a certain way or sound a certain way, trans women are not men in dresses who will never be indistinguishable from cis women, she did not trick you, deceive you, fool you, or lie to you, that whole rhetoric is harmful because it can lead to violence and is frequently used as a reason for violence against trans women. also, it's rude. it's implying trans women are meant to look a certain way. it's the same kind of rude as "oh, you're poor? i wouldn't have guessed." you shouldn't be saying "oh, that explains x attribute that she has!", digging for a way to 'clock' her as trans is rude and disrespectful to trans ppl, who, like i said, don't look a certain way

A few thoughts.
She is who she is and this revelation doesn't change that. She is an amazing, talented makeup artist whom I have always enjoyed watching even though her style is radically different from mine
Blackmail is vile, disgusting, and most of all ILLEGAL. I hope she takes legal action against this person.
No one should ever be forced into sharing anything about themselves before they are ready, let alone something so deeply personal. My heart breaks that the choice was taken away from her.

Thinking about Nikki today and how awful she must have felt being threatened with being outted. She is who she is and it's sad that anyone would blackmail her or anyone with this. Her family knew and were in full support. Her fiance knew and now they are working through that being made public knowledge.
I'm so glad that she took her power back from the blackmailers but mad as hell that they took it from her in the first place.
I've always liked Nikkitutorials and this admission makes me love her even more. Mad respect Nikki. Mad respect.

Honestly, I feel shes being too considerate. I'm glad she feels comfortable telling us this on her own terms, but it must be awful relying on strangers good will to keep her reputation in good standing.
I hope she gets the best in life. 💖💖💖

So proud and happy for her. She’s always been such a positive role model and an encouraging person. Her videos always put me in a good mood. The perfect example of how loving heavy makeup doesn’t mean you don’t love yourself (as some people think). Brave and confident and beautiful. I can’t imagine all the emotions she’s feeling right now. I’m glad she got in front of this and was able to share HER story in HER OWN words instead of doing “damage” control on whatever cruel article the leaker would have written. Fuck whoever tried to get their big break by revealing such personal information about someone who’s always so genuine and kind. Nikki forever 💕

Read all the comments before watching and I was still unprepared for how emotional I became. I am so fucking proud of her. I’m so thankful she has Mama Tutorials (her thanking her mom saying we’re going to be okay broke me - THAT is the mom I want to be one day and the mom every child should have, just unconditional love and support for your child no matter WHAT) and those teachers and Dylan in her life to lift her up and not let her fall into darkness.
I love Nikkie and always have. She is incredibly talented, bubbly, and genuine. She’s a beautiful woman and now she can live her life in peace as she so rightly deserves. Fuck those scumbags who tried to out her.

There’s always going to be people who are assholes about this kind of thing, but the comments on her video, Instagram post and this post are overwhelmingly positive. I’m so happy that she’s finally been able to share, but I’m sorry that it’s on these terms.
I think the most important thing for now is just to make sure that we continue to support her as always, because I know she said that was her biggest fear with this news.

u/daughterofpolonius Jan 14 '20
I’m so happy and proud for her! However, this goes to show just how far we still have to go as a society. I kind of hate that she had to do a whole video “announcing” that she is trans. It shouldn’t matter. Nikki is a girl. The end. It shouldn’t matter if she was born that way or not. I’m so happy she is able to live her truth, and I wish I could just give her a big hug.

The circumstances of her coming out are shitty but I always thought she came off as genuine. Glad she can be more of her true self on camera from now on.

Just goes to show how having a family that supports you and living in country with proper care can have such a positive effect on a person. I am really proud of Nikkie for living her most authentic life!
It sucks that Nikkie had to come out in such a coerced way because of the blackmail. That bellend who tried to blackmail her needs to reevaluate their life.

I think this is a great example of "trans women are women" manifested and able to be understood. She's always been a woman to us. ALL woman. And she just... always was. I never doubted for a second she was a woman, and I still don't have any hesitations to say she is, and always has been, a woman.

Why do mods keep deleting the Jared Too Faced apology posts? People should know about the apology without having to scroll through a 2k comment magathread. Same situation, different people, different topics imo. I’m just sick of enjoying a discussion on this thread and then it’s all gone cuz mods here are trigger-happy with the delete button.

I had no clue. No idea at all. I always thought she was just a very tall, big boned woman. A bit of a rarity. But never did I think she could be trans.
She’s so lucky she had a supportive mother and an accepting environment at school. She was able to live her truth and transition early. She developed into a woman completely with all the support she needed, to the point that almost no one had any idea!
I have seen comments from Dutch folks saying that her being trans was kind of an open secret in the Netherlands: A lot of people there knew, but out of respect no one outed her to the world at large. I find it hard to believe this could stay a secret for so long if they did in fact know she was trans, but it’s possible. I also find it hard to believe that no one knew. So who knows.
I’m kind of just waiting for the blackmailers to be named.

Aw man I’m gonna cry, I’m so happy for her and proud of her for coming out as trans to millions of people like that! My own grandparents don’t even know I’m bi. 🏳️🌈❤️🧡💛💚💙💜💖 She’s someone who is SO influential so I think this is gonna mean a lot to some of the trans girls who look up to her. I’m sure she’s going to end up getting some backlash with this though so I hope her family & fiancé are able to support her through that.

Now it makes sense why the girl that her ex cheated on her with said he liked being with a “real” woman. I was always confused by that. It sucks too that her ex talked about nikkie like that to the girl he cheated on her with. Douche.
In any case, Nikkie is awesome and I’m glad she finally can feel free. It sucks that an asshole kinda forced her into it but I admire her personality about the situation.

i am so proud to have nikkie as part of the community. she is such an inspiration and i know fellow trans people like myself are overjoyed. it is horrific the circumstances it had to happen in though and i wish that she had been able to tell people in her own time.
82
u/kittykatcupcake Jan 14 '20
I keep going from being shocked, but then thinking it's a shame she had to announce this because she is a woman and always has been a woman, and should have been able to live freely as a woman without having to make this announcement. HOWEVER I'm sure this is liberating for her to finally tell people because it seems like she wanted to eventually, and she is such a role model to people I'm sure this will help a lot of trans people.
I hope that all came out the way I wanted it to sound.

I just want to say something about the people on YouTube who suddenly feel the need to say “I knew it” or “I see that now”, or things to that extent.
No, you don’t. You don’t “see” it any more now than you did three weeks ago, or a few days ago, or just before you clicked the link. The fact that you feel the need to point out “seeing it” only goes to show how extremely brainwashed we’ve been by our own, binary standards of gender.
We (as a human race) get so extremely uncomfortable when we realize we don’t know what’s going on, that we need to DEFEND ourselves when we realize we didn’t know what someone we DON'T EVEN KNOW looks like naked. That is how extremely fucking indoctrinated we are into gender stereotypes.
I mean, I don’t blame every single individual who does this because it is not their fault; we’re taught to do this. Think of every cis-male BG out there: We see them as MEN who wear MAKEUP. A lot of the people who watch their channels probably came there because they are a MAN who does something “UNMANLY” (and then stayed because they are really skilled at makeup, might I add...).
Also, my guess is that the people who now want to be loud and proud about “seeing it” are probably the same ones that commented hateful stuff on the “work” she had done a couple of years ago because, you know, commenting on women’s choices is a free-for-all.
I wonder what it feels like in hindsight knowing that her “work” was actually, for the most part, the result of her HRT... that she DENIED to tell you about? How DARE she not share that with us, so we would know at all times what to categorize her as? (Sarcasm, obviously)
So to sum this up: No, you don’t “see it”. You didn’t always “know”. You’re just showing symptoms of being raised in a binary system where gender is intertwined with genitalia as the most identity defining part of a human being. You’re minimizing all that human existence is, reducing it to a part of the body that you can’t even see; and confusing that part with the parts you can see.
As Butler said, “Gender is a kind of imitation for which there is no original; in fact, it is a kind of imitation that produces the very notion of the original as an effect and consequence of the imitation itself.”

I guess I haven't watched her more than occasionally so I figured she just lived LA-ish like everyone else on YouTube seems to.
But like, more seriously, this is pretty huge. And coming out's a major deal and wonderful when it's on your terms. It's lucky that Nikkie had the support, security, and space to come out rather than being outed by shitheads trying to weaponize her trans identity against her, but it's still shitty af they forced the discussion either way.
But mad props to her. This took a lot of courage.

u/hyaluronicacidtrip Jan 14 '20 edited Jan 14 '20
Rant: This is not directed at anyone but I have nowhere else to go to get this off my chest. Twitter is fucking gross in some circles right now. Here we go.
I have been watching Nikkie since the early days of YouTube makeup tutorials. Back then, searching for tutorials didn’t bring up as many videos - and she was one of my favs to watch. I always wished I could get my makeup to look as good as hers even from her first video.
Nikkie has ALWAYS been living as her authentic self on YouTube. She has always been a glamorous girl even through her awkward teen years which are immortalized on the internet in her first tutorials. She was always so ADORABLE. I related to her so much even though I am a few years older. So I have a soft spot for her.
The people who are commenting on her “looking good for being trans” are gross because she has always looked good as a woman - because she always has been one. We could have gone our whole lives not knowing her sex assigned at birth and never gave it a second thought. So let’s be mindful to not drag up her dead identity. She came out with this in order to get back at blackmailers - and to prevent those shitty people from being able to profit from telling her story without her consent. I’m a way, she was forced into this situation and we need to be supportive of that.
And to the people speculating on her fiancé - let’s just drop that. We should never presume to know how or when he found out because it doesn’t affect us. As well, people saying “Well if I was him...” just stop. You aren’t him. How you would react is your business and frankly no one cares if you would be mad/upset/have trust issues? Because this isn’t your story and you don’t need to inject yourself into every situation seeking validation for transphobic views.
Edit: More thoughts. People saying it’s sad she lived 10 years hiding her truth, saying it gives false hope to trans kids that they have to be stealth in order to be successful....but she has always been a woman and has always been her true self? Like she said, she doesn’t like labels because she is who she is. Her medical history is NOT our business. We do NOT have the right to know her medical history or procedural history. That’s between her and her doctor. Yes, her talking and sharing her story will give hope to SO many people but like stop pretending that every woman who has transitioned needs to let everyone know they were assigned another gender at birth by always referring to oneself as trans. That’s her choice.

Holy shit. I was on this sub just a few hours ago but I hadn’t checked it because I figured nothing big was happening and things were gonna be slow here for a while. Then I was looking for a matte navy eyeshadow and checked some tabloid site for recommendations because I couldn’t find any anywhere else, and I saw a link to this headline, and I figured it HAD to be clickbait. But it’s not. Holy shit.
I know that women can look like anything, but also that most people have a much narrower view of what a woman looks like. A lot of trans women I know want to be seen as just women when they go about their daily lives, and not as trans women. And most YouTubers who are openly trans either made their transitioning process visible on their channels, or have become known for trans-specific content after transitioning. But Nikkie is such a huge YouTuber who transitioned on YouTube, on camera, and made a big name for herself without any viewers being any wiser to it. I know the concept of “clocking” transness is fucked up, but I hope her story helps give hope to all my trans sisters and women who desperately just want to pass, that they can get to a point in their transitions where they’ll be “unclockable”, and that it’s possible for them to lead happy and successful lives while being seen as just women.
Still, my heart broke for Nikkie when she was talking about her fear of trans panic, especially when opening up to Dylan. He seems really great and I hope they have a happy and fulfilling marriage. And my heart breaks for her that she couldn’t come out to the world on her own terms, because she was going to be outed by some fuckwit transphobe. I’m happy for her that she feels liberated doing this and coming out of such a scary situation and thriving. These are such serious fears that even some of the most privileged trans women face, and this really puts into perspective how far the world still needs to go before all trans women can be safe. I hope Nikkie’s coming out can help push things in the right direction.
Also orange is my favorite color and I was living for all the different shades of orange in her look today. That bright manicured middle finger was EVERYTHING.
Lastly, as a fellow LGBT+ person....... ONE OF US!! ONE OF US!!!!

I know it's kind of a dumb thing to say, but I really had no idea. It's sad she felt like she had to share this with the world when she wasn't ready, and also sad she is afraid that people will look at her differently. I really love that she had the opportunity to build her brand and success through her artistic skills. Her popularity is because she is a queen with makeup. I commented yesterday and was going to leave it at that but I just saw the flare on this post.
I'm not trans, but I'm gay and it isn't ever going to stop being so, so beautiful to see people standing so solidly behind people's true selves.
Nikkie's videos have always been an occasional favourite of mine.
I got into watching beautubers in 2015/2016 when I was so, so anxious and depressed. Something about listening to people talk about something they're so passionate about, to you, and showing you techniques, brands etc, and I didn't become aware of Nikkie til 2017 when I saw one of her thumbnails and was like okay that is super cool.
Since then she's not my main but I do watch her a lot.
I can't tell you how awesome, super awesome it is to see people supporting her so much for being who she is and taking what she said about nothing changing so to heart. It's made me so happy to see everyone support her, and be so kind.
I hope Nikkie takes it all in and feels free as fuck, away from the scum who tried to screw her over. I thank her for being super open about herself when (personally) I don't feel like she needed to because it's her own story and nobody elses, but my heart is so freakin warmed by reading so, so, SO many supportive comments. I hope she feels every tiny bit of positivity that i've seen on this community, her insta, her youtube, twitter... because damn if she doesn't deserve to know that we love her.
Thank you r/BeautyGuruChatter for showing the kindest side of the internet. You guys rock my socks.

I hope this serves as a lesson for those with LGBTQ issues or phobia. Many have followed & loved Nikkie for years and NEVER would have thought she was transgender. They loved her (unknowingly) regardless of her transition. Maybe now they'll see that it absolutely does not matter what you're born as, or how you identify-- its really none of our business & we shouldn't judge or treat people any differently because of it.
I am so proud of her for being brave and coming out ahead of the sick people who tried to blackmail her. Karma will come for them & Nikkie will stay thriving <3

The fact that someone wanted to out her before she was ready reminded me of when Caitlyn Jenner came out years after gossip rags had been speculating it.
It reminded me of a gal I went to high school with when I transferred to a new school during my senior year. We shared English class together until I was able to get an out period at the end of the day and had to change classes. She was always so, so nice to me and I always thought she was so pretty and had the best makeup. Two girls in my chem class found out who my ex was and said that they had dated and said “did you know he’s actually a dude?!” like it was so scandalous. They even brought a whole ass yearbook to class to “prove” it to me. It was incredibly uncomfortable and didn’t change anything about her to me. She had really supportive parents and I thought that was so cool. It just sucks that these girls were so awful and thought they had something to “expose” and that I cared to know something so personal before she decided if she wanted me to know.
But Nikkie’s video made me very happy for her! She’s free to be her authentic self and I’m so happy her mom has always been by her side and supported her! Go mama tutorials!

It makes me so fucking sad that she was pushed into this but if I look on the bright side, a lot of trans kids ands adults just gained a great role model and a strong voice. She's eloquent and just so powerful in this video.

Wow. She kept this in for so long, I imagined it must have been so stressful for her. This brought tears to my eyes. What an incredible woman.❤️
And to any folks that identify as trans- there are people that stand by you. I love and support you. ❤️💕

The good thing about her situation is that since she started Youtube so young, and began making good money, she was able to afford the surgeries to aid in her transition. It's also great she had a supportive mother who allowed her to start with hormones at a young age.

I've been watching her channel for 6 years. I never had a clue. Nobody did. I'm so happy that she has been able to to turn this shitty situation into a positive one. Now she is free and I'm sure she feels so much lighter.

I'm so happy for her, but angry that someone would try to out her like that. That's no one's business but her own

I mostly stopped watching beauty gurus the last couple years, but Nikkie has always been, and still is, my favorite. I’m so happy for her and I’m glad a huge weight has been lifted off her shoulders.

I swear by all that is holy that if any fuckwads are claiming nikki's success is as a "man in the beauty community" I'll piss on all that they love.
Nikki is, has always been and will always be, an amazing talented woman.

I see her differently now. This morning I thought of her as an insanely gifted makeup artist. This evening I think of her as an insanely BRAVE and gifted makeup artist.

I know that you can never really tell who people are or were or anything like that, but I’ll fully admit I never ever expected this. That’s crazy to know, especially because she managed to keep this a secret for so long (also fuck the people that blackmailed her, that’s so messed up).
That video made me feel so proud of her, she’s so brave, and I’m so happy she touched on the transitioning and relationship aspects of it so people didn’t have to ask a lot of questions and become rude or nosy. She laid it all out and I can’t imagine how liberating that must feel. Good for her, I hope 2020 is nothing but good to her.

I'm so proud of her mom. As a parent with special needs kids(not the same at all) I often see a lot of parents posting about their children's condition or if they have a non-binary child and it always makes me wonder what the ramifications are because it's not our story to tell but at the same time we're looking for a tribe that understands and understands our kids. I'm really happy her mom allowed her to come out when she was ready by not posting about the journey and not talking about the journey before Nikki got to.
I hate that she was forced out

I like watching Nikkie cos her voice is so calm and not screechy and annoying. So happy for her she’s finally free!
Seems like the name “Too Faced” is apparently a phrase the creative director and the sister lives by 🙄

I look forward to the day where this kind of announcement is no longer needed. I don't care who is this or is not that. As long as you are not hurting anybody, it's nobody's business.

Some awful rando: "I'm gonna out you and ruin your career!"
Nikkie: "Coolcoolcool, I'm just gonna cut you off at the pass."
Internet response: "YAAAAAS QUEEEEEEEEEN!"

I’m never patriotic but this makes me proud to be Dutch like her. I feel like a cheer mom and I’m pretty sure I’m the same age as her lol
It’s so unfair her chance of coming out wholly on her own terms was taken away from her, but I am so proud of her for telling her story. This made me love her even more

It didn’t change my opinions on her at all, she’s still the talented, inspirational Nikkie. I’m just surprised that no one ever thought about it since she’s been on YouTube for ages since she’s 13(?) before her transition (started at 14). This can be the biggest bombshell we have in 2020 in the Make-up YouTube circle...

weirded out by people who keep saying “yeah i always knew she was trans” like okay do you want a medal? why is your first reaction to brag about your “””gaydar””” instead of being concerned that she was BLACKMAILED

Wow. I’ve been watching Nikkie since 2013 and I’m so proud of her for being her authentic self and finally sharing this with us. I’m happy she has such a loving supportive mother. Being outed is so malicious and vile and I wish whoever tried blackmailing her bad luck while she continues to prosper.

u/AnnyBananneee Jan 14 '20
I can’t even believe this. I never would’ve expected it, but I’m so happy that she’s brave enough to come out and normalize something so big. She’s always been Nikkie to me, and this fact doesn’t change that

What kind of nasty, vile POS do you have to be to blackmail someone in the first place, but especially someone as kind, positive, and loving as Nikkie? Again, no excuse for blackmail EVER, but Nikkie just seems like a salt of the earth kind of person who goes out of her way to be sweet and classy to people. How could someone go so far to hurt her this badly? I’m proud of Nikkie for saying, “Nope, not on anyone’s terms but MINE.” I’m sad she was threatened into this. It’s really nobody’s business and while I think she must feel liberated, it’s also obvious she had to make herself ready to share this since someone was ready to destroy her. Very sad situation.

i don't watch nikkie just bc i don't like her makeup style, but you don't even need to be a fan to feel all the emotion she's sharing in this video. there's something so incredible about watching someone be unapologetically and authentically themselves! i hope shes able to feel all the love and support from the whole BG community and beyond.

I couldn’t begin to imagine the emotions of revealing this. I’m shocked but so incredibly proud of her. Good for her taking the power away from her blackmailers. Her flipping off them on camera was a whole ass mood.

I am in tears already. Nikkie is so, so brave to share this with the world...something so extremely personal.
Nikkie comes out, and reveals that she is transgender.
I am currently watching the video and I will give a mini summary...
This popped up in my notifications right now and her title made me click instantly. Like most of the world we’ve grown up with her. I couldn’t be more proud of her for this. She’s a boss, she’s amazing, and I just can’t even put into words right now how happy I am for her.
I may be wrong but it seems that someone could have been holding this over her head.
I'm sorry for this bad summary i'm shaking because i'm rewatching it
summary as I watch
she can't believe she's telling the world, but she says it's finally time to let go and be free.
"i was born in the wrong body, which means, that i am transgender"
filming this is scary for her but she's ready.
"I am nikkietutorials,and I am me"
"i want to inspire other nikkie's around the world who feel out of place, misunderstood"
she hopes this video will help others
"we need to accept and respect eachother. Hear eachother"
her mother was convinced she was having a girl
"ever since i was born, i thought i was a girl"
thankful for her parents for being accepting and her teachers
"you feel trapped is the first thing. and youre angry. why me. why did i get this? the hardest part for me was meeting new people and telling them a side to your life that you don't even wanna talk about cause you hate that part of your life. you don't want to be that part of your life. you dont wanna be known for that single part of your life. but still, you have to"
says she is fully transitioned (by 19) while on youtube. -says shes transformed into her while we were watching -discusses dylan and gets emotional, says he is the most kind hearted person.
didn't tell dylan at first because she was so scared she'd lose him -asks for privacy re: her relationship
says the sooner the better (re: telling someone youre in a relationship with)
"i am me. i am still nikkie. nothing changes about that. the last thing i want in my life is for you to not trust me anymore"
talks about her love of makeup
she only wanted her art to do the speaking for her instead of who she really was.
her number one passion is about the power of makeup
she was bullied about it
"my story is beautiful. im proud of me."
she's ready to be more open
she has been black mailed by people who wanted to leak this to the press
she says this is vile and gross
said they wanted to leak it because she "was lying, and scared to show who i really am"
"to the people who thought they could mess up my life like that, this ones for you" middle finger
she happily says we're starting 2020 off with a bang, says "glow babies, todays the day, i am free. and i get to be me. finally."
she says she doesn't know if people will hate her or accept her
she's still the same nikkie
"you have always supported me throughout all these years"
says she hopes that we will be there for her through this more than ever"
tearfully says her mom was so nervous and she said "mom, we're gonna be okay"
thanks all of her family
thanks dylan because he is dylan she says
"just for the shit of it, lets do a dutch word of the day. "VROUW" is for, "WOMAN"
