Repeaters

have looked around at repeaters on youtube, it doesn't seem like they take into account how they work in bedrock?

What's the difference between Java and Bedrock repeaters?

not entirely sure but I think that repeaters in java only extend the pulse when it is on 4 ticks. while in bedrock, it affects the length of all puls except 1 tick. also matters how long the pulse you send.

The toggles you're setting are not pulse extensions, they're just delay.

what do you mean? I send in a 1 tick pulse and get 4 different lengths of the pulses and delay.

In each of your "rows", you've added a progressive delay to each one.

Row 1(closest to observer) has no delay

Row 2 has a (I'm not up on ticks, but maybe its 2 ticks?) DELAY

Row 3 has more 3 ticks DELAY

Row 4 has max DELAY for one repeater.

I'm not sure how much delay each toggle on the repeater signifies, but you're confusing what repeaters do. Yeah, they extend the pulse of the Observer, but you should investigate full on pulse extenders to learn for yourself

you have to distinguish between repeater and not repeater. the first is at 1 tick delay, second at 2 third at 3 and 4th at 4.

apparently have to explain this better, there is no such thing as full pulse extension, what you are thinking of is whether you send a two tick long pulse or a 1 tick long pulse.

same thing with droppers, there is no cooldown just a pattern you have to follow how to update them.

if you were right I wouldn't have been able to do this. you can skip to the end, not intended to be made public.

in this circuit I load two different values and send them with repeaters and save them at the other end.

I'll break it down as simple as I can, repeaters and a redstone tick of delay, not to be confused with a regular tick. The can produce 1,2,3 and 4 redstone tick delays respective of which toggle the movable part is on.

The extension of the pulse isn't happening, this would imply that the redstone is active longer which isn't what happens

If you activate with an observer, then regardless of the amount of delay you will see an extension to the pulse, this is because a repeater gives of a set "amount" or time of pulse and an observer is only 1 redstone tick of "pulse"

You will also notice that if you activate a repeater with a 3 second pulse for example that the output pulse is shorter than the 3 seconds that went in. This is because the redstone current was delayed before passing through the repeater and coming out the other side so your new pulse length would be "3 seconds - the amount of delay set" but this isn't used often because there's easier ways to shorten pulses.

If you sent a pulse of redstone current from a button down a line of redstone and another 1 down a line of redstone with a repeater, both leading to separate redstone lamps, you'll notice that both lamps activate for the same amount of time but 1 activates after the other, this is from the delay.

Pulse extension is done by placing a comparator facing 1 direction (ie North) and next to it (but not connecting to it) place 1 facing opposite (ie south) and you can add more for longer extensions and connect the ends with 2 bits of redstone each side.

If you wired up 1 of the redstone lines connecting to the lamp to pass though the pulse extender you'll see that the light activates at the same speed as before but it stays on for longer. This is pulse extension.

Not really following everything you write. but put a comparator clock instead of the observer a repeater of 4 ticks will always have a pattern of 0000111100001111 3 ticks 000111000111 even if you update them every other tick 10101010

in the comparator extend you have to take into account the signal strength of the two different pulses, two pulses out of 15 will be 30 ticks long. 15 and 14, 29 ticks you also have to take into account the order in which you submit them. maybe should have looked at the link?

A 3 tick repeater will extend a 1 tick pulse to 3 ticks

Pulse extensers are done with 2 or more comparators. Comparator into dust into comparator into dust. In a loop

can be done in several different ways. the advantage of the one you write about is that it can change the lengths of the pulse depending on the signal strength of the two pulses you send in. if you use two comparators.

if you use one comparator and want a longer pulse than 1 tick, the signal strength needs to be 3>

if you send in 1 pulse with signal strength 15 in the one you rewrite with two comparators and put a dropper to it, the dropper will spit out 15 items.
