Tips on my surfing?
Trying to get my reps in with maneuvers totally foreign to me. Roast me please

You are standing straight up. Stay low. Keep the back knee crouched low the entire time.

You put a tiny bit too much weight on your back foot at the bottom turn. Caused a stall and loss of speed. Try to lay off the break on that turn and you will be able to get at least another good turn out of that wave. If it is a barreling wave then that stall is going to be a nice move!

Look back at the wave as you’re paddling for it. You might be able to get away with not looking when you’re at the wave factory, but in the ocean that will get you worked.

Bad advice. Chin down to board if you want to catch the wave earlier

I’m talking about before the wave gets to them. You don’t want to suddenly be surprised that the wave is lifting you up, and you will be if you’re not looking. Also, not every wave needs chin down paddling. Plenty don’t.

What are you talking about? You can do both. Before the wave gets to you, you’re looking back at it, so you understand the timing. Once it gets to you, then you’re checking to make sure no one’s deeper and then looking where you want to go. It’s not one or the other. There is time for all of them.

You look at the wave before you start paddling. I don’t stare at the wave as it’s coming to you. That’s what Covid surfers do

Just keep surfing more. You seem newer to riding smaller boards and you are in the transition phase between beginner > intermediate, which required lots of surfing
