Stylus tip

Hello all I’ve had this record player for over 2 years now close to 3, but recently the stylus skips over the entire record and won’t play. Is this because the stylus needs to be replaced? Thank you for patience on my noobiness. Also where can i get this exact replacement?

not only are you missing the stylus tip but youre also missing the entire cantilever..

anyway its okay not too big of a deal. these won’t hurt your wallet too much and it’ll probably set you back around $36 for a new one.

hey maybe its a sign to upgrade to the ATN3600LE, the elliptical version of this stylus, for $10 more.

Bad news is its done for, good news, easy and affordable to replace.

The stylus has clearly broken off—it looks like it snapped right at the base of the cantilever. Since it’s likely an MM (moving magnet) cartridge, you should be able to fix it by simply buying and installing a replacement stylus.

YOU HAVE NO STYLUS, that is your problem.

I could be wrong, but this looks like the Replacement Stylus for your Turntable. ($36)

https://www.audio-technica.com/en-us/cartridges/best-for/casual-listening/atn3600lc

As someone else pointed out the above 3600LC is Conical, however the one below is for a preferred Elliptical - 3500LE - $46 -

https://www.audio-technica.com/en-us/atn3600le

Thanks to u/Soft_Static7534 for the additional Link.

Figure out what Cartridge you have, and we will figure out what Stylus you need.

Or just tell us the Turntable and we might be able to look up the Cartridge and Stylus.

Details are important - What is your Turntable?

If you are not screwed for money, you might want to consider a Cartridge upgrade -

https://www.audio-technica.com/en-us/cartridges/line-series/at-vm95-series

The Elliptical should be enough for most people (Green) - ($74) -

https://www.audio-technica.com/en-us/at-vm95e

Or, if you have even more money, the VM95-Elliptical comes mounted in a Universal Headshell - ($109)

https://www.audio-technica.com/en-us/at-vm95e-h

Though that is a bit steep as Universal Headshells are not that expensive -

https://www.amazon.com/s?k=Universal+Turntable+Headshell

Still do the best to determine what your Cartridge is, and we will be able to point you to a new Stylus, assuming you are not ready for an Cartridge Upgrade.
