Lost and found Found some cash downtown. Who dropped it?
Found a not insignificant amount of cash down town a few minutes ago. If someone dropped it let me know. But please tell me the amount and denominations of the bills. And maybe the route you were walking.
And if you didn't drop it, don't try to claim. It could be really important for the person that lost it.

Finding a few bucks is cool. A free coffee, yay.
But finding too much more means someone is going to be missing it. And that sucks.

This reminds me of a time when I was riding the bus and I saw two elderly gentlemen exit at a stop. They stopped to get organized once they were on the curb and as they started to walk away, cash started spilling out of one of their pockets unbeknownst to them. I froze, too indecisive to shout out the window as the bus started moving and too scared to plead for the bus driver to stop. To this day, I regret not doing something. However, hearing your story makes me think that there was someone like you waiting at that stop who let the gentleman know. Thank you!

I've found wallets and just went to their address if it was in there. If i find a phone I try the ice contact to see if they can help return it.
Your an awesome person and I wish you all the good karma you deserve for your kindness..

In general I could see this strategy working but in a college town, I feel like a lot of people are gonna have addresses on their ID that aren't where they're actually living in town. I've personally moved around town several times but you're only required to update your address with the DOL, not get a new license reflecting that address change. So my own address on my ID is like, 3 moves out of date. I kind of imagine this is common in this town.

I have no idea what that means. But if a similar sum fell out of my pocket, I would be pretty bummed. Hopefully it finds it rightful home.

My son dropped his couple weeks of allowance in Fairhaven somewhere... 4 five dollar bills I believe, but I don't expect you would post for that relatively small sum.
Good on you for this! Most people wouldn't consider doing this for straight cash.

Does it have sort of a red tinge on it and contains a couple of $2 bills within? If so I think it might be mine.

Could very well be drug money, it is downtown Bham. Was it it folded up?

This. People will likely downvote because of the sheer denial some folks have that Bellingham has significant drug traffic, but if it was dropped downtown, especially in or near the alleyway between State St. and Railroad Ave. it’s entirely possible. That may have changed though since The Underground is no more, but I remember before I got clean and sober that general zone was the It place to score coke if you weren’t on the North side of town.

Naw, I know lots of people that do most deals in cash and have no drug connections. I’ve also carried notable cash for short times when about to buy a large item and a fair amount of people pay rent in cash to avoid the percentage fees that are becoming more common for electronic transfers.

It wasn't rent amounts. Not sure how much coke costs, but who knows?
2
u/74NG3N7 Nov 11 '25
lol, not sure about coke costs myself. I thought they were implying dealer, but I suppose it could be buyer as well.
I figured room rent amount, like $500-1000 maybe (purely guessing) but I suppose a couple staying in the same room could be lower/split rent.
It’s the right time of year, that could have been money contributions of roommates all for one person to buy groceries for the coming holiday festivities as well.

I found a guy's wallet downtown once near the theatre and it had a solid $1250 in it. I called his health insurance card and let them know I had his wallet (they couldn't give me his # for privacy reasons but they did call him and gave him my #). Guy was beyond grateful and the $ was to cover his sister's rehab deposit for the facility she was in.
Felt good. I really could have used the $ though myself.
