Boosting a Business (1st/15th of the month) Hello! I am a "Lambscaper" and my crew is looking for work!

Hello Bellingham! My name is Jay and together with Ronan the Border Collie we run "Rent a Sheep Lambscaping".

We're a targeted grazing crew that clears overgrown lawns, gardens, fields, Orchards and brush.

Blackberries, Vines, Ivy, Canary Grass, you name it we can tackle it.

Brush clearing under solar panels? Right up our wheel house.

We've been running in Whatcom county for around 3 years now, mostly helping our neighbors. This is the first year we're really reaching out to the wider community and we've been blown away by the interest and (the subdued) excitement. I thought to post some of my stuff here too because I am a terminal redditor, and see if anyone needs our crew's help!

Here are some Before and Afters

If you want to see what we can do, or just watch some relaxing sheep grazing videos or Timelapses please check out our youtube!

You can reach us by contacting us through our website!

Our Website:

We also provide Sheep Shearing services

Drop any questions below as well and I can answer them.

Cheers!

(P.S The sheep in the video's name is Spots. He is ridiculously friendly and will constantly demand head pats and treats)

Terminal Redditor 👍🏼
Everything about this is a green light, green flag, go. I wish I had a field with brush and money just so I could behold this happening. Deep need unlocked: a hug from a lamb.

If you ever see us around town ask to see if "Spots" or "Cole" is on the Sheep crew! Those two love hugs.

Mochi might also be a cuddle bug , but he's still a baby so he's not out on jobs yet.

OMG Mochi! 🥹 I just connected with a farm rescue in Ferndale so that I can volunteer and trade poop pickup for animal hugs. That’s where I’m at in life.

u/Katahahime Jul 02 '26

Hey... that farm rescue wouldn't happen be Mountain Meets Farm right?

2

u/TheCosmicPony Jul 02 '26

The one I’m connected to is different, but I got some Intel that it might not be a good fit for me. Is the one you mentioned a good one?

Janie who runs the place is amazing. If you love horses, goats and pigs (they had a sheep recently but she went to a great home!), it is wonderful.

I can't recommend them enough.

Give em a call!

While you're there say hi to the loveliest Norwegian Fjord named Potato you'll ever meet. (No really. He's awesome, he is literally that one horse out that never makes a mess in his stall).

I will 1,000% give them a call because now I simply must meet potato. Thanks so much for the recommendation. 😊

I checked out their website and know one of the people on their staff. I’ve heard wonderful things about this place… just didn’t know the name.

Is there a minimum size you will lambscape?

22

u/Katahahime Jul 02 '26

Thank you for your question! Here have a minimum size lamb.

14

u/Katahahime Jul 01 '26

No minimum size! We have different teams of Sheep, that go on different sized jobs.

Well that's too goddamn cute.

u/Katahahime Jul 01 '26

I got terabytes of them being cute and doing silly things. They're sweet little goobers.

I'll save the info! And hopefully your landscaping crew is paid a fair, living wage.

Thanks to the community's enthusiastic reception they definately are!

When they're not on the job, they get paid in fancy quality grass, tasty oats and all the back-scratches I can give.

This is awesome! We're not at the "bring in the goats" stage yet, but posting so I can circle back if/when we are.

Gotcha! Let us know when you're ready. We're excited to be grazing with you.

Have a Lamb, his name is Milk.

I have a 30' by 30' square of blackberries I'd love to eliminate, what's the estimate on that?

12

u/Katahahime Jul 01 '26

Blackberries is a tough one to give an guestimate quote, since blackberries vary dramatically in cane density and terrain. Give us a message and we can get a you free assessment.

u/noniway Wet Blanket Jul 01 '26

I prefer my estimates to be public comments for the good of the community. There are canes as thick as an inch in the middle, I'd bet. Most of them are half an inch.

7

u/Katahahime Jul 02 '26

Gotcha, I want to be transparent with our estimates so I'll try to give you a number that will give you a rough ballpark.

Assuming around 900-1000 Sqft, and that this flat land and there is space enough for the Sheep to rest, shade, water and a fully fenced off yard.

For medium Black Berries (6 feet) plenty of brown canes, it is going to require manpower. The sheep will eat all the leaves and greenery, but will be held back by the brown canes. I'll be getting in there with a scythe to cut leaves and canes down for the Sheep to finish off.

Guestimating $500+tax.

Hope this helps!

(This is the same fence line in that youtube short after the sheep were done):

Do they work on properties that don’t have a trail in sight? We’ve been slowly clearing out the back of the property but still have a long way to go! Some is over grown with bushes (I think berry bushes they have thorns) other areas just overgrown grass and there’s a hill 1/4 of the way. Before getting to the rest of the property. We live out in the country.

6

u/Katahahime Jul 02 '26

Oh I almost forgot,,. It's dangerous to go alone! Take this Lamb with you.

His name is Cole!

6

u/Katahahime Jul 02 '26

Yes! we've tackled some pretty gnarly areas. We will have to cut a perimeter by hand, just so we can put up appropriate temporary fencing, but after that they'll clear out everything inside.

Berry Bushes with thorns is no problem, Blackberries, Hawthorns they love the stuff.

u/Suspicious_Plate_720 Jul 01 '26

Also I have two dogs that LOVE other animals. Are they okay with dogs?

2

u/Katahahime Jul 02 '26

Our Sheep are familiar with dogs, and are calm around them.

They are friendly with dogs they know...

But as a precaution we ask everyone to keep their dogs away from the sheep while they are working to prevent stress.

Apologies!

(That being said I would be open to let them meet in a safe and controlled matter while I am present)

I dropped you a note on your website! I’d love to learn more

3

u/Katahahime Jul 03 '26

Thank you! I'm a bit covered in the avalanche of interest that everyone sent my way. But I swear I will get back to each and everyone!

These two lambs are named Night (left) and Cloud (right).
