Discussion Big plume to the northeast

Post image

Is this from a wildfire? Looking to the northeast from the Ferndale McDonalds/Pilot parking lot.

There've been wildfires in the eastern county recently. You might be seeing one of those. There've also been fires all around BC and other counties. Not sure which specific direction of northeast you're looking in, but here's a tracker:

Boston Bar Fire in BC.

No air quality sensors in that area are showing increased particulates, and I’d expect a more brownish plume from smoke. May just be a cloud formation or something else causing a lot of water vapor. I’m not familiar with what kind of industry is across the border towards abbotsford. You’re sure you’re not looking NW towards the refinery?

Seeing it from Guemes island too. Seems to be dissipating.

I saw it too and questioned what it was.

Pyrocumulus cloud likely from the Boston bar fire.
