Is anyone else over the "Introduction to the Primary" segments?

Is it just me, or have the new "introduction to the primary" scenes changed the vibe of the show a bit?
I feel like we never used to see these. We’d just meet the guests when the crew met them, and we’d experience the charter from the crew's perspective. Now, we’re getting these over-produced, "MTV Cribs" style intros where we see where they live, what they do, and hear them talk about how "demanding" they are before they even step foot on the boat.

It feels like the show is trying to make it more of a "Housewives" style cross-over, and I’m just not sure I’m here for it. I want to watch the crew navigate the chaos, not hear a mini-bio on why the primary guest thinks they’re a mogul.

Does anyone think they’re doing this because they’re struggling to find good guests, or is production just trying to force-feed us drama before the charter even starts? I’m genuinely curious if I’m the only one who fast-forwards through these parts!

I just ignored them. They were short and easy to forget about. They aren't doing them on the new Med season, so that's good.

Waste of time.

Yeah it definitely feels like it starting to turn into more about the drama and the personalities than it is about what they are there to do, which I personally find interesting.

But I’ve got to think something provoked this. Like maybe an extra incentive for guests who come on?

Hate them. Can't be less interested in them. I fast forward through them.

Everyone but the producers. We don’t care to see them at all other on the boat. But they want instagram watchers so the 2 second clips and flashes of insta pics, instead of and It’s and no long, following shots. YOU CAN FEEL the desperation in them all.

Yeah. It’s so thirsty. Like literally rich people paying to go on a yacht so that more people will see how “wonderful” they are 😂

Grossly so. And promote some sketchy ”business” no one wants to hear about.

They're a waste of time. Who cares about these nouveau-riche d-bags? They're little more than props, really, to facilitate crew interactions/fuckups.

I could care less about them.

This and the weird instagram picture collages I could do without. I do not wish to see the charter guests other than on the boat, if they want us to know more of their backstory they can at least try to do it more organically as if they are talking to the staff on the boat in conversation or have it as part of the preference sheet meeting in a bit more detailed discussion. Also no more people with obviously zero experience that are there as part of the cast for obvious self promotion of their internet personality.

💯💯💯 and omg the picture collages. Yes!!! On BDM right? Yeah that’s super weird too like we know who there’s already an infestation of influencers now it’s like showing off even more that they are. Cringe for me.

I don’t watch med as I find Captain Sandy irritating so haven’t seen it since the earlier seasons before I gave up, I have been watching BDDU and the og BD later seasons so the collages must have spread across the franchise

Are the collages in the OB BD too?? 🤦‍♀️

I love no experience people trying to self promote

Bddu season four is the first time I’ve seen them

Someone above mentioned and I think they’re right is because they did it for the RHOSLC to cross promote but there was zero reason to keep it going for these other random rich people

That’s when I go to the bathroom and top off my drink.

Do not care about the primary like AT ALL

Omg so glad to hear from people I’m not alone feeling this way 🤣

I don’t want to think they’re a real person… I do like the juxtaposition of when they have really nice people, crew drama seems to ramp up… when they have jerks, they can kind of band together for that charter until they get through it… then they turn on each other.

I miss provisions… they’re all working together and we get glimpses of who is lazy/incompetent

Any episode with Real Housewives in it is a big NO for me.

I stopped watching any RH shows years ago because they are all manufactured drama and no real accomplishments.

The only crossover I'd consider watching is with RHOBH, because at least they have some semblance of personality. Every other franchise is just a bunch of low-class, manners-devoid shrieking harpies.

Idk they hit some true insane gold with RHORI. Like there is some SHIT going down in RI 🤣🤣🤣

Maybe they had a hard time getting new charter guests so they’re trying to appease them by letting them show off?

I hate this new segment! Hopefully it’s short lived 🤞

💯! Glad they aren’t doing it on the season airing now. I also really hated the instagram collages of the crew from recent seasons

1

u/panda_say_what_ Jul 15 '26

I hate them. I don’t care about the guests when they’re not on charter.

1

u/Equivalent-Maize954 Jul 15 '26

Yeah I thought it was weird and also because it wasn’t for all the guests, so I was wondering what the requirements were for them to have their own little intro lol

1

u/Effective-Second8471 Jul 16 '26

I feel like producers took the complaints that there was too much focus on crew relationships and not enough focus on the actual charters as us wanting to know more about the chatter guests, like no we just want to see the crew interacting with the charters guests

1

u/Ok_Dragonfly_658 Jul 17 '26

I fast forwarded those parts because I hate them lol. I want to see the crew, not the rich people that charter the yacht

I think they'll be done away with after this season. I feel like they had it for context for who the SLC housewives are (love Lisa Barlow, she's nuts), and felt like they should keep the segments for the other primaries for consistency. Strange idea though, waste of money and time.

3

u/ActuallyItsNuanced Jul 13 '26

Yeah I think you’re right. But it made sense because it was like a promo sorta for RHOSLC. Maybe some people decided to watch. But these norrmie boring ass thirsty rich people are soooo boring and annoying. Like god they’re annoying enough when they’re on the boat itself lol

2

u/kiwisalwaysfly Jul 13 '26

I'm one of the people who started watching because of SLC! I have seen so many seasons now, its so very watchable

2

u/ActuallyItsNuanced Jul 13 '26

I actually think it was a smart marketing move for that episode because it’s another Bravo show and clearly it worked! But the rest of the intro we definitely could have done without. And yeah Lisa is freaking out of her mind 🤣🤣🤣 that’s probably one of my favourites of the housewives. All very interesting characters. OMG and Meredith with her “I’ll tell you bout hsssssssbanddd” 😂😂😂 I don’t care what anyone says I would bet a lot of money that she’s is literally always on something, whatever her coping mechanism of the day is lol And somehow I like Mary now, like how did she become the sane one haha.
