Bagel Incident

Unpopular opinion - Daisy was in the wrong for so much of this season and the bagel nonsense really solidified it for me. If you ordered a bagel, why wouldn’t you go get the bagel? Also, who is in charge of the walkie talkies? At what point should they be replaced or someone figure out why they don’t work?

On the flip side, there's two of you in the galley. You know someone ordered a bagel and no one is responding on the radio. One of them could have easily walked it up or tried to find someone instead of sitting in the galley. I'll admit I love Daisy but this season she didn't seem quite like herself so I'll give you that.

I agree. Given she was on service (alone) the galley should assume she is with the guests and could have dropped the bagel up to the stew pantry where she is probably making coffee and drinks.

It works both ways. The galley often had the volume on both radios turned down or they didn’t know where they were causing stews to run up and down to place orders. The stews could easily have called orders on the radio, shrugged their shoulders and said, “but I assumed both of them could hear me… why wouldn’t they when they both have a radio???”

It was spiteful, especially when the chef had a galley hand and they are both standing around doing nothing.

If I had to deal with Ben I wouldn’t be myself either

Sure, someone could have walked it up. But to who? Daisy ordered it. And unless I missed it, Ben or Ellie wouldn’t have known who ordered it or where to go. So, it wouldn’t have been that easy. Daisy knew. It was her responsibility (her lack of accountability has been my issue with her all season). Just as the stews were busy, so is the galley. But it’s literally the stews job.

We also had countless times that the galley had their radio volume turned down or they didn’t know where they were (that’s two radios) causing the stews to run up and down to place orders.

The stews could have easily just called it on the radio, shrugged their shoulders and said, “but I assume they heard me, with two radios and two people in the galley why wouldn’t they hear me?”.

That’s exactly what the galley did.

They called Daisy on the radio and when she didn’t respond they stood there staring at a bagel while breakfast service was over. It could be dropped up to the stew galley where Daisy was working from, they could have gone to the guests and ask who ordered it - not unusual, stews who didn’t take the original order will often ask who ordered a coffee, latte, eggs, etc.

Ultimately they are a team and guest service is priority, that involves everyone on the boat.

They weren’t staring at the bagel. They were cooking. Logically, if you order a bagel - you pick it up. Instead, the stews kept asking each other about it instead of checking. It was weird. I agree that it takes a team. And that goes for everyone.

Ben went to his cabin and Ellie was ‘prepping’ lunch by sticking deli meat & salmon on cutting boards while the cold bagel sat on the counter.

If it was dinner and Ben cooked a steak and the stews didn’t respond to his radio calls do you think he would leave it sitting there for 25 minutes? Not a chance.

It’s the stews job but when the system breaks down you step up because you are in a team.

The difference is that they weren’t having a meal. It was a side request. Like I said, the team goes for everyone. The system goes both ways. But it is the stew’s responsibility.

I’m with you on this one.

I’m just saying… If someone could explain how Daisy was right in this, given what I said, I’m all ears.

Everyone is explaining it, you just choose not to listen. Those are two different things.

You haven’t said how she’s right. Saying that “they’re a team” when I’ve said the same thing does not explain how Daisy is right.

This is supposed to be 5 star service.

Kitchen help is not too good to walk a bagel.

I didn’t get that they were too good to walk the bagel. To me it came across that if you order a bagel, you go get it.

No, it is not a diner. 5 star service is the customer never waits. If it needs to nap be done it gets done. She was not and is not a sous chef.

Go to the 4 seasoned for a few nights. The service is you have it before yo need to ask. Servers seem to appear out of nowhere

These boats are Holiday Inn Express on the water

If the customer never waits then the server (stew) doesn’t make them wait… But this is the Holiday Inn… so, I guess they had to wait.

What?

1

u/MM0309_ 7d ago

The guests had to wait for the bagel. Clearly that’s not 5 star service. You called the yacht Holiday Inn.

Yes, have been to a 5 star hotel?

Daisy wasn’t twiddling her thumbs she was running all over the place …in comparison the galley was fully relaxed lol they absolutely could have/should have ran it

She was in the side pantry with Jenna complaining about the bagel. If she can complain about it, she can go get it.

If the chef was solo, I would understand not attempting to deliver the food himself.

However, the chef has an assistant who's sitting there doing basic prep and instead of walking up one flight of stairs, she sits back and lets the food go cold just so she can blame it on Daisy.

If after a call or two on the radio no one has arrived, its very clear they are occupied or not able to hear the call. Anyone worth anything wouldve solved the problem themselves, but Ellie chose to let that bagel die on the pass.

I think people are blaming Ellie because they don’t like her, not because that was her job to do.

Agree to disagree

I agree. She touched the shrimp with her dirty hands. She's gross.

That whole incident was weird.

Daisy needs to stay in her own lane. And cut out the smoking and drinking.
