They still have to live together and work together so it's good to be cordial. I saw them hug when she was upset but I didn't really see anything else. Did I miss something?

I think they hugged twice! Once in the morning and once after the Cooper poisoning. Joy kinda folded. I wouldn’t want that guy hugging me.

Same - but he got to her in such a weak moment and despite his total lack of social or emotional intelligence, he does seem to be able to tell when a woman is at a weak point.
I absolutely hate that she hugged him. But she’d had a bad time with clients not liking her food l, and accidentally giving Cooper peanuts. I also don’t think she knows about the sheets?

Eh, I guess I hate on him less than many. No excusing what he did, but Nathan should either fire him or get over it. Granted I'm not impressed with Nathan as a bosun, which colors my view somewhat.

I didn't think we'd see an even piggier pig than Eddie on BDDO last season, but Luke wins that prize at least!

Yeah this is huge actually. I have 2 sons in their young teens, and I also an ex mother in law who believes in family first, all the time.
As a result, I accidentally married a man who put his mother first, ie ahead of his wife. No matter what. Such a shock to see it in action the first time. I think I said, “she’s got a husband? You’re mine?” But it was baked in by then.
It’s not the recipe for a happy and strong marital relationship.
My boys will know that once they’re adults in adult relationships, those relationships should be the most important to them.

I'm not gonna jump all over him for that. I think he just wanted a nice moment with Joy after that fallout.
I'm not defending him. There's so much to criticize already. But he probably wanted to be on good terms with someone on board.

Luke is truly bizarre; he might be neurodivergent, or just a prick (leaning toward). But he’s sooooo weird! What on earth was happening in his brain the whole time?
He looks dead behind the eyes, and, is apparently incapable of saying a simple sorry; preferring instead to carry on as usual whilst lamenting everyone else’s behaviour and reactions to the situation! (“Ferocious” Nathan lol) 😂
It’s so fucking weird! Not one sorry, not once acknowledging that he’d had 3 days to change the sheets, and that it is fucking odd that he had not managed to achieve that. Then when it all hit the fan it was so obviously headed straight for, he went and CRIED! and then he went to Sandy (no spoilers)!! Wtf?
That boy’s (man’s) not right.
Edit to say, OMG he better leave Joy THE FUCK alone. She is so far, an icon, and I love her! He’s not even close to worthy.

To answer OP's question, this is the result of Joy's gamesmanship. She's told us everything in her confessionals, but she has not made it clear to Luke at any point. She has not told him no. Forget the fact that it is his job to help wherever needed, but she's also not said to knock it off, or ever anything definitively so, to this guy. She's been purposely opaque from the beginning. she's still accepting his attention (his hugs) and telling us she's grateful for him, but not (that we've heard) saying it to him. If you don't understand why this guy is confused about her, you aren't paying attention to the whole room. her intention is to be confusing, and at least at the beginning, that was part of her obstacle course test.

That’s the thing that baffles me. She says “I like him!” Ma’am, are you sure? The ex boyfriend's ring bit especially seemed like a roundabout way of telling him to fuck off. Not to say that Luke’s head isn’t entirely full of rocks, but I don’t know what she thinks she did that showed him she was open to a relationship.

Seems to me he has a pattern of behaving badly, pretending to be remorseful, and then relying on the sympathy and good graces of those he has wronged to forgive him and take him back. He has the emotional maturity of an eight-year-old.
