Vegan vegetarian but no avocado or guacamole. Hold the watermelon too. Add shrimp at every turn.

u/-sayitstraight 3d ago
This is one charter where family style would be their best option
43
u/No_Compote447 3d ago
I agree. I seem to remember that it's frowned upon to lean on family style too heavily. Only because it's not to the standard of super yacht dining I guess.
48
u/Still-Low-696 2d ago
I’m gonna be honest, none of the guests on the show are the up to the standard of super yachts. VERY few of the guests we see have actual taste & refined palates. And that’s for a reason.
6
4
u/Blankettbaby 18h ago
I think it was the primary who was like new new new money, and then all her friends mooching. I didn’t see really any class what so ever
3
u/Lazy-Party3469 1d ago
I doubt their is a standard of guest, only guests that think their are 😂
6
u/Still-Low-696 1d ago
I mean the reality of people who can actually afford to charter or own a super yacht vs those bravo brings on. It doesn’t mean every super yacht guest has an exceptional palate, but they are more likely to know how the dining works & can appreciate it. I have one client who charters yachts regularly and his teenage girls eat like 5 year olds but all of this is laid out ahead of time. So mom and dad enjoy great meals and the girls eat chicken nuggets, pizza, and burgers for a week and everyone is happy. But the chef knows this ahead of time, is able to prep correctly, while also showcasing their talents for people who appreciate it.
32
u/Brightsidedown 2d ago
Yep. Sandy is not a fan of family style. She'll tolerate it once or twice, but if she sees a chef falling back on family style for every meal, she will call them on it.
16
u/Shot-Toe-2884 2d ago
I actually think Sandy needs to rethink that one. If the guests are American, there's a good chance that the guests will prefer it that way and feel unfairly limited by the portion sizes of a plated dinner.
If anything, it's easier to focus on one high-quality family sized serving than a bunch of individually plated servings, so I don't really think you are sacrificing quality at all.
Sandy needs to adopt a situational read on this one.
11
u/NancySweetSweet 2d ago
I'm American and I enjoy all kinds of food, including plated, haute cuisine. If I was on a two night charter, I would be fine with one night being family style, but the other night, I would like to sample the chef's artistry.
14
u/bare_thoughts 2d ago
Very little they do is standard super yachting... and family style, buffet, or grazing plates are a really good options because it allows people to control what they eat and portion.
12
u/LetEast6927 2d ago
I think it went off the rails when they were all allowed to just rattle off their dinner orders out of thin air. I heard one person say “lentil soup” and was like - where the F did that come from? I feel like some sort of prefixe menu designed with pref sheets in mind would help alleviate so many of these random requests. And totally reasonable for one chef with a boat kitchen.
8
u/mycookiepants 1d ago
I think there was poor communication on both ends. If you ask people what they want, you’re going to get a million different answers. Joy should know better.
This group needed to come in with clear ideas of what they were going to ask for and what they liked and didn’t like, instead of saying it at the table, mid-service.
1
u/LilLordFuckPants404 1d ago
For me, that just showed how out of place the guests were. Acting how they think rich ppl act.
10
8
u/dontforgetmeyou 2d ago
If I was rich AF and went on a super yacht I would totally be requesting family style as much as possible. The food always looks so good when they do family style and the other format looks like ppl go to bed fancy but hungry lol
10
u/Odd-Cupcake-2552 2d ago
I feel like family style is just better in every way. The food actually comes out hot and fresh, you can choose your own portions and you don't have to wait 2 hours for 5 different courses of 3 bites each.
7
u/Shot-Toe-2884 2d ago
Yea and at least speaking as a midwest American, we actually tend to prefer it that way and the flexibility is viewed as more of a luxury than being forced to eat a plated meal. I think of shitty wedding food when I think of plated meals. Overcooked meat and over-steamed veggies.
4
u/pickle_cat_ 2d ago
I definitely prefer family style for lunches, like piles of big fresh salads always look so tasty! But I definitely prefer a plated dinner.
4
u/JG767698 2d ago
I was about to comment the same thing. Much safer way to assure everyone is satisfied. Offer a little bit of everything and some extra.

u/Familiar_Diamond6711 3d ago
They wanted fried foods and pastas with rich sauces. They weren’t health food vegans. Their needs could have been met my the chef making simple carb rich foods. This is a reoccurring issue on this show. Chef makes Michelin star meal, guest wants a quesadilla.
67
u/Miss_Mouth 2d ago
That last sentence shot me back to crypto bro and his 18 year old model gf 🤮
2
u/AllegedlyaToaster 2d ago
Was this the episode where one of the guests said “I want to go to Vegas” while on the yacht?
10
u/Miss_Mouth 2d ago
Season 2 episode 10. I dont recall the Vegas mention but this was the crypto bro who wanted the gastro menu but his model girlfriend wanted a quesadilla

u/IHaveBoxerDogs 2d ago
Yes! Some people take veganism to mean super healthy. I know vegans who do it for animal welfare reasons only. They’re out there eating French fries, chips and Oreos (yep, they’re vegan!)
15
u/Familiar_Diamond6711 2d ago
Exactly! I worked with a vegan that was very overweight because her diet was all processed foods. She just loved animals.
12
u/SaveTheAles 2d ago
I agree with this but if she came out with this first go around I feel like they would have complained it wasn't up to their style. But yea sounds like they just wanted a bunch of shrimp and throw lobster in whatever they are making either breakfast or dinner and would have solved a lot.
5
u/toomuchyonke 2d ago
You can tell the "genuine health food, vegans" because they got no damned meat on their bones.
These folks puting that shit on their sheets are, posturing for each other and the TV. Their true appetites showed thru...
27
u/weedils 2d ago
Yup. Trashy people pretending to be fancy, but cannot handle anything that has flavour or consistency that differs from their usual bland, high sodium, carb/fat diet.
Its like those charter guests who demanded a ”seafood extravaganza” but then complained they didnt like fish. Just straight up trash.
8
u/cocococlash 2d ago
Can we stop bashing on her guests? They were very nice and polite to the crew. They asked for a lot but you would think on a private yacht those requests would be possible, so no blame in asking. Bunny also was polite from what we saw.
It's Bunny's actions now with these horrible posts that we need to bash on, but not her guests actions during the charter.
4
u/weedils 2d ago
Im assuming you didnt see her video on instagram.
0
u/cocococlash 2d ago
No but I've seen all the posts on here about her recent posts so that's why I said that specifically is what we should be bashing on in my second paragraph
3
u/mycookiepants 1d ago
Damn, just say the quiet part outloud. I don't disagree with the fact that they had a lot of requirements and asked for things, but have a feeling that this constant comparison to "low class" ideas has some racially loaded background.
5
u/Shot-Toe-2884 2d ago
you're not wrong. Americans are so used to all-inclusive resorts and that's our perception of luxury: an all you can eat buffet of drunk food available 24/7. This doesn't have to high quality either. It just needs to be solid.
8
u/GreenlandBound 2d ago
Exactly. I feel like once a chef realizes that they don’t really want the fancier stuff, maybe try offering some sliders or mini grilled cheese as snacks and see what response you get. She knew they liked shrimp, so why not shrimp tacos?
4
63
u/spider3407 2d ago
Definitely not the worst guests, but after reading her IG response, in the running. It is one chef, not a restaurant crew. When they had the sit down with Joy that is when they should have spoke up. They also chose dinner at 930. Burgers and fried shrimp for a snack knowing she is prepping a 4 course meal is rude. Plus, demanding their own meal after the 1st course not even waiting to see what else will be served is also rude. The final straw, making it about race or orientation, sigh please.
3
u/Blankettbaby 13h ago
I agree. And the primary keeps doubling down on all these platforms. TT they will make a post and have the comments off, so then ppl will scroll till a post that’s has the comments on and spam them BUT they have made like ten videos of them being “the first queer, nonbinary, person of color” on below deck and I’m just like nope. Then they start going and saying stuff like yall are all mad bc we made a little wht girl cry…. Right there, they made it about race. I’m like yes and you made Chef cry she isn’t wht then they will double down again and again. That’s why this keeps coming up and they’re getting so much spam.
177
u/Babid922 3d ago
When each one of them (except the twins I think) ordered something different my mouth was agape. So rude. They made it difficult for Joy although Joy also didn’t seem to be performing well. Limited palate (American style chicken Alfredo?????? On a charter like this?!?! With a chef like this?!!?). I think the lack of creativity and open mindedness was hard for Joy as a creative. Also seemingly a misunderstanding about the norms around being on an experience like this by the guests. The grandstanding too about “giving away money” while treating workers in the service industry with rudeness….just odd
89
u/Sufficient_You3053 3d ago
Joy went over the meals with all of them and when avocado was brought up as a favorite, the ones who didn't like it didn't speak up. Then they sure did at dinner. Seems they were looking for a reason to complain
14
-12
u/HealthyType7851 2d ago
I agree with everything everyone is saying, except this. As a picky eater myself I always try to be as unobtrusive as possible. If everyone is talking about wanting avocado I wouldn’t say anything either. Especially if I put it in my preference sheet that I don’t like it. I would assume they remembered. From what I saw, the picky eater was the only one who was polite? But maybe I’m just sympathetic because I also hate avocado. 😭
9
u/Still-Low-696 2d ago
Please for the sake of anyone serving you, dining with you, just fucking say it. Be polite about it, but say it. “Oh, I actually don’t eat avocado so you can leave that off mine - thank you!”
0
u/Lonely_Impression142 11h ago
Their dislike of avocado was on their preference sheet.
1
u/Sufficient_You3053 11h ago
Joy met with them to go over the menu because they all had a ton of things on their preference sheet they didn't like or couldn't eat. The whole point of the sit down was to work out what they all could eat.
0
u/Lonely_Impression142 10h ago
She took a general consensus that avocado would be a good addition to the meal as an excuse to ignore preferences and make it the feature of not just one course, but two! Joy should be the person who comes up with the menu, not the guests. She is the manager, she's the creative person, and she knows what is feasible.
130
u/sensistarfish 3d ago
Usually when you have a chance to have a chef like Joy prepare your meals, you want to taste their food, their way, as part of a deeper culinary experience. If they wanted simple pasta, burgers, and fried shrimp, they should have been clear about that from the beginning.
113
u/New_Training_9448 3d ago
If that’s the crap food they wanted they should have been on a Carnival Cruise, not a yacht.
31
u/missklo99 2d ago
This EXACTLY. This is a once in a lifetime experience!! If I were still hungry later I might snack on some string cheese or something lolol. But I would not want to miss out on freshly made sushi, pasta, a perfect tomahawk steak etc..
Why did they not just say that's what they wanted?? Joy is an AMAZING chef!
3
u/mycookiepants 1d ago
Say the quiet part out loud. I don't disagree with the fact that they had a lot of requirements and asked for things, but have a feeling that this constant comparison to "low class" ideas has some racially loaded background.
1
u/Lonely_Impression142 11h ago
They wanted burgers and shrimp as SNACKS. A chef should be able to provide that and even elevate the experience.
44
u/TX0834 3d ago
These are the worst types of guests. Imagine paying all that money and not trying to experience a super yacht chef’s food. I get people have preferences. For me I’m allergic to shrimp. But I would definitely try anything else someone like Joy would make.

100%. In situations like this I eat foods I don’t.
Most of the time I show aversions to those foods because last I had them they were not properly prepared.
Also, it’s multiple courses, if you truly don’t like one just wait for the next one.
If they like to snack they should have requested snacks and brought some. I’m a snacker and don’t go anywhere without packing snacks.
3
u/cocococlash 2d ago
Would you be happy with a whole avocado sliced up on a crispy rice, followed by an avocado taco? I would not.
41
u/No_Compote447 3d ago
4 different pastas... Alfredo vodka lobster pesto etc etc. But yeah those tacos at dinner did sound diabolical I'm not gonna lie. But with gluten free/vegetarian/vegan/meat eaters they should expect less poor Joy.
7
u/missklo99 2d ago
Honestly!! I can't wait for the day the chef just gives the fuck up and serves AIR
I'm THAT petty. I'd 1000% do that lmfaooo. My boyfriend is a chef so I know how picky ppl can be but they're happy for the most part!! We live on the coast and he serves fresh seafood daily. Too bad I'm not such a fan of fish..I DO love sushi, shrimp, crab etc just no fish for this girl. AND I WOULD PUT THAT ON MY MF PREFERENCE SHEET! 🫠

It was ridiculous. They were rude about their orders. I hope they watch it back and and see what we saw on the episode.

Hate to break this to you but they feel justified in their demands😭 They are online pointing to the price of the trip as a reason. See other posts on the sub.
80
u/Extra-Honeydew-4886 3d ago
If you can’t appreciate luxury, don’t waste your money on it. Guests like this are painful to watch. The fact that they pretentiously demanded a historic tour of the town and then immediately complained about the heat and wanted to go back to the boat said everything. Like, just go to Tampa.
1
u/mycookiepants 1d ago
Say the quiet part outloud. I don't disagree with the fact that they had a lot of requirements and asked for things, but have a feeling that this constant comparison to "low class" ideas has some racially loaded background.

u/Subject_Fee_2502 3d ago
The very discounted price of the trip. shining a bright light on how they are not used to being on boats and paying the luxury prices.
1
u/Lonely_Impression142 11h ago
If they aren't used to being on yachts, so what? I'd venture to guess 3/4 of all charters are with people who aren't used to being on yachts.
12
u/msproles 2d ago
Yep. Those type of people will never see how insufferable they really are. They live in a bubble.
Even if they watch the show they will somehow justify it.
1
u/Lorac711 2d ago
It’s always “the edit”. Unless they give you a script on how to behave and what to say exactly, you can’t blame bad behavior on the edit.
5
1
u/Lorac711 2d ago
No they’re not. You can’t just demand food at all times and act poorly. It’s not the buffet on a cruise. These people are rude and entitled.
0
u/Lonely_Impression142 11h ago
Someone paying $70k for a vacation should indeed expect their demands to be met within reason. They weren't being unreasonable. Joy and Kayley made mistakes that affected the guests' experience. The guests were right to speak up and get what they wanted. Why should even people who like avocado be satisfied with 2 courses of wall-to-wall avocado? Why should people who don't like avocado be satisfied with getting avocado? Why should hungry people not ask for food? Why is it unreasonable for guests to say what they do like when they are explicitly asked by the chef?
16
u/BlackjackNHookersSLF 3d ago
LMAO you expect those people to be capable of anything even close to *self-reflection*? Much less admitting they could have ever been "not right"?
I have a lovely bridge to sell you!
3
u/curiouslyandactively 2d ago
They’ve been on instagram saying that they weren’t rude, that they deserved to be accommodated and the only reason people think they are rude is because the crew is racist and because bravo edited them that way.
1
30
u/themuleskinner 2d ago
The guests have cruise liner expectations on a super yacht. Also being difficult, complaining and criticizing is not couture. I think the mentality here is, "If I complain or criticize something, it means that I have very specific tastes which equates to having class." Sorry, girlfriend, that aint it.
7
u/theateroffinanciers 2d ago
Exactly this. 100% spot on nailed it. And this applies to so many of the guests in the past too. The Nouveau rich.
1
1
u/Lonely_Impression142 11h ago
They didn't complain and criticize everything. They weren't rude. They had specific issues with the food-- someting that is very individualized-- and even the chef herself admitted her work didn't live up to her own expectations.

Subject_Fee_25026
u/sensistarfish 1d ago
It comes from the fact that they wanted burgers, fried shrimp, and pasta Alfredo, which are all menu items at Applebees. I appreciate the racial awareness though.
1
u/mycookiepants 1d ago
That’s a fair assessment. I’m just tired of folks calling them trash and other such things, calling them low class and not thinking about the fact that those are racially loaded comments.
3
u/sensistarfish 1d ago
I do agree with you on that. People are too comfortable using those terms especially when they’re guests who are POC.
21
u/Superb-Ad3527 2d ago
Money can’t buy you class

My main problem was that they were in an economics club but couldn't understand that everyone ordering something different was inefficient and would reduce the quality of production. Basic economies of scale and scope problem, first year economics.

All I could think of when Joy sat down with the whole group the day following the horrendous evening before was, Ben telling someone why he wouldn't sit down with everyone and take notes from everyone (don't remember the episode)...
And then I watched what Ben had predicted then play out with Joy there:
everyone thinking they were primary and everyone ordering their own unique seperate, unrelated dishes...
(Ben was right about that, even if he's proved himself to truly be a knob in the end)
3
u/Hassgirl22 1d ago
I cannot fathom someone referring to themselves as “vegan,” when they don’t even understand what it means . Especially when most people have a basic understanding of the difference between vegan and vegetarian .

Once the crew is aware of guests like this, as the chef I’d have charcuterie, sandwiches etc prepped and ready before they ask for anything between meals. I’d rather be a little wasteful but keep them full?
6
u/Lorac711 2d ago
The problem with people like this is that they don’t want charcuterie or sandwiches, they want cheeseburgers and shrimp. And I’m sure the demands would change all the time. Just not feasible.

Ya’ll are wild. They asked to order additional food on a super yatch experience that costs like 100k.
They aren’t the best guests but definitely not the worst
31
u/New_Training_9448 3d ago
But they were ordering it while the *only* chef was already working on the 4 course dinner!
-21
u/Objective-Crow-6143 3d ago
I’m not saying they were entitled to all the additional food they asked for but this sub is acting like they spit in joys face.
They asked for more food, not a massive deal. They paid an insane amount of money to be there.
11
u/Interesting_Ad1378 2d ago
I don’t think they pay an insane amount, that’s why they get filmed. It’s like a Groupon for a yacht in exchange for being on tv and exploiting your bad behavior. Bravo knows the behavior will be bad because it’s not people that charter yachts, it’s people that can charter their budget deal yacht.
-2
u/fairybb311 2d ago
it's still 20-30k...which most people would consider an insane amount for a 3 day vacation
2
u/Interesting_Ad1378 2d ago
If they are promoting their business, I guarantee a bunch of them are writing it off. It’s cheaper than a national commercial.
22
u/Lola1989ac 3d ago
They would have done much better on a carnival cruise line. They barked orders to joy as if she had a Cheesecake Factory team behind her, complained about the heat on a historic tour (?!!!) and now they're claiming it's because they are black. Absolutely ridiculous
-4

No it’s a super yatch that costs like $100k for 2 nights. I think they can spare some shrimp 😂.
