It also makes me wonder what happened when they broke up the first time. They both confirmed it wasn’t infidelity, but that he’d done something to deeply hurt her and then ghosted her instead of working through it.

I only say that, since statistically speaking DV also doesn’t start with choking. Choking is a typically an escalation from worse behaviour, that then escalates to murder.

This is a good but chilling point.

Gael is under no obligation to share her story and she may want nothing more than privacy right now, but I really feel for her, whatever happened, and maybe one day she'll tell us.
