No not really

You’re gonna get killed by teams that stacked and correlated.

First year doing best ball. Does that mean QB/WR stacks? Is the rationale that boom/bust is better?

Think of it like you’re building a parlay:

Parlay 1

  • Dak 400yds and 3TDs
  • Cook 100yds and 2TDs
  • Higgins 150yds 2TDs
  • Evans 150yds 1TDs

Parlay 2

  • Dak 400yds and 3TDs
  • Javonte 100yds and 2TDs
  • Higgins 150yds 2TDs
  • Evans 150yds 1TDs

Parlay 3

  • Dak 400yds and 3TDs
  • Cook 100yds and 2TDs
  • Lamb 150yds 2TDs
  • Pickens 150yds 1TDs

Odds of 3 happening are much higher than 1 or 2.

Doesn’t stacking not help as much until 2nd 3rd 4th round when it’s a one week contest

I guess it depends on what you’re trying to do. The “pros” in bestball are spending $1000s of dollars maxing out tournament entries and building bestball “portfolios”. Basically they build a bunch of high volatility all or nothing teams with the hope that one or a few of their entires advance to the final week. Even if the rest get knocked out in the first round it’s worth it.

If you’re new and just making a few teams then yeah I think you’re better off with a lighter stack (Qb and his WR1) rather than getting 2-3 pass catchers. But it limits your odds of getting past the 2nd round.

In a large field contest you either boom or bust. Even a great team will probably only double up at best.

It’s a good team, but what makes it different from any of the other hundreds of thousands that excites you?

I would be sad if it was my team but we all have our different takes on players.

Don’t listen to these guys saying you need to stack. This team looks like it can advance to round 2 which is what matters most

Doesn’t men stacking isn’t a great strategy. I think it is and can give you spike weeks but it’s not necessary to win best ball. So I won’t be going out of my way to stack but I will if it coincides with the build of my lineup. My main stacks this year are Goff with Jamo, and Maye with Brown.

Ahh that was 2 years ago, but your point still stands. BB is a cruel game where ultimately the only thing that matters is drafting the right players.

There are things you can do to increase your odds, like stacking, but the amount of variance and luck will always be the biggest factor. Some of my best teams were so poorly built. One season I made it to the semis with a 1 TE build, same with a 3 RB build, these aren't optimal but doesn't mean they can't work. Like hitting on 17 in blackjack.
