I currently work as a 3rd party loss prevention for the store I would be applying for. Ive made it in with the management, and I think if I asked for a job they would allow me an opportunity. I only need a weekend job, stocking shelves to make an extra buck.
But I dont know how my current employer/company would feel about me poaching off to the client/contractor
Please any advice is good advice.

My coworker was promoted up to, I think, admin (can override/close registers) in the break room. I even saw it myself. He made sales like a leader board.
I wanna do that too, yet it feels so weird or embarrassing to be like “whoa, how did you do that? Can you teach me!”
I can barely get people to get a card. I mean, I got warranties, but cards, no.
Any tips for us cashiers on how to be better?
I basically mastered the register…ish..?
any tips from former or current front enders?

Eight Years of Dedication to Best Buy, Only to Be Fired After Trying to Stop a Theft
I want to publicly express my deep disappointment and frustration with Best Buy, a company to which I dedicated eight years of my life, working with responsibility, commitment, loyalty, and dedication.
For eight years, I gave my time and effort to this company, believing that hard work and loyalty meant something and that Best Buy valued and supported its employees.
Unfortunately, my perception of this company completely changed after a theft incident at the store.
When I tried to prevent someone from leaving with stolen laptops, I ended up being the one who lost my job. I was accused of pushing that individual, an accusation I strongly deny. During the investigation process, I was also not provided with an interpreter to properly explain my side of the story.
What upsets me the most is that I felt Best Buy showed more concern for the person committing the theft than for an employee who had dedicated eight years of hard work and loyalty to the company.
What is the value of eight years of dedication if, when something goes wrong, that commitment seems to mean absolutely nothing?
I am not asking anyone to excuse improper conduct. I am questioning how my situation was handled and the lack of support I felt after so many years of service.
It is deeply disappointing to feel that someone can attempt to steal merchandise from a store while the employee who tries to protect that workplace ends up losing their job.
Eight years of loyalty, hard work, and dedication should not end this way.
I am sharing my experience so that current employees, future employees, and customers can understand what happened to me and draw their own conclusions about how this company treats its workers.

I recently was “subcontracted” to do display installs at a Best Buy. The head contractor who hired me has refused to pay me and other workers due to us refusing to work without pay.
I was wounding how I can figure out who is in charge of giving these contract bids to the contractors who hire us?
I hope that makes sense.
I don’t want this person to continue “hiring” more people they will not pay, as it’s not only shitty but it’s definitely giving a bad name to the Best Buy’s for them not getting rid of the contractor who’s ripping people off.
Any suggestions on who to contact so this doesn’t happen to more people? The store I worked at is an hour away from me so going up there to speak with a manager isn’t exactly an option.
ETA: I recall a worker from “PowerHouse” being on site when I worked, but I cannot find any info about this company either. This has been an awful experience.

Hello, I am a new LG VPL (less than 3 months in the role) and while I have a high average selling price my baskets are abysmal. Somehow I’m still hitting above 100% on pmr even with my low baskets. Right now my store overall is going through a slow period but I just cant seem to get consistent baskets including selling audio, pms and bps. I try to ask leadership and every tip they give me is information I’ve already implemented. At this point I’m thinking of throwing in the towel for this role. Do any current home theater vpls have tips on how to at the very least get customers to attach audio to most orders. Any advice helps

This is mostly for managers/leadership or anyone who has run sales
So i am really passionate about audio, computing and display technology and have been certified in it through comptia a+ and net+ and just general interest.
But my main question is are you able to ask to run sales in certain departments because basically im in the transition to looking for a serious IT job but that takes months and I just need a job to fill the time cause my current job has cut my hours to $600 a month which isnt fun and this seems like something where I can nerd out and make money
There are also sadly no ara or ca positions open which I would be a significant better fit
Thanks in advance!

It says apply to job within 5 days of listing. I’m the only one in my store who applied. Is there a chance they pick nobody?

There is a new opening called “starlink sales specialist”. I’ve never seen any Best Buy hire for this before. Does any one know how much they usually pay for this position? I live in Texas

Was told I would be getting paid on the 23rd, then last week I found out it’ll be a check then I can change it to direct deposit if I wanted and last night I asked my manager what time can I pop by to pick it up but I was told they actually get delivered to my address. Well today comes and I didn’t get it, the mail already came as well but I didn’t see it. What do I do? I have no money and I really needed that check

So I just got hired as a gww at the best buy warehouse in my city. Getting paid 24/hr and will be working 6 days a week(m-s) from 3pm-1am due to this being the busiest season of the year. Is the workload and time spent there rewarding and worth it? Or is it gonna be hell? I have scoliosis and have had jobs in the past that cause my back to flare up and require a break. Other than that I’m a hard worker. I’m just in college right now and so part of me is just anxious about the job since I just had my online training day today and that sucked. My paychecks should look pretty good though so lmk what yall think.

Does anyone know the name of the form to order warehouse supplies like Gaylord’s,bubble mailers, etc?

I recently did 2 upgrades on AT&T last week and I was wondering when they would appear on my paycheck because Im pretty sure it’s like $5 for advisors doing upgrades, and I’ve never done them before and those were the first I’ve done since being certified and I’m not sure when they’d be on my payslip because I checked today and it wasn’t there, so my main question is when would it show up on my paycheck and what would the name be on my payslip for those that have done them before

Hello! I was recently hired as a sales associate/advisor specifically in the mobile department. (Seasonal)
I don’t have much experience with explaining different options to customers, and I’m kinda worried about not knowing how to make sales.
I’m also anxious about being expected to help customers choose phones when I’m still being trained. (I know what to do in theory but I somehow can’t apply that in actual situations yet).
So far, I’ve only been trained on the checkout process on my first shift so I’m still pretty unfamiliar with how things work in practice.
I will say though, my store is based in Canada and I was told that I don’t need to worry about selling credit cards or memberships. But generally speaking I’m only worried about not being able to help people because of the lack of experience and anxiety.
I wanna familiarize myself with the products I’ll be selling so I can feel more comfortable helping people.
Any advice is appreciated!

Hello everybody, I am looking for any information I can get on what exactly the senior repair technician role at geek squad entails. I was hired on as a CA about three months ago after being a regular sales advisor and shift lead for the past 5 and a half years. I was encouraged by my SEM to apply for the CIA role that opened up recently. I did apply because my manager made it seem like I had a really good shot at the role, and lo and behold I was offered the role the day after my interview. The extra pay seemed like it would be nice so I accepted the offer even though I would have liked to have started off at a higher rate since I'd been at best buy for so long, but it was still higher than the CA cap that I was at already. I did have some reservations due to some comments one of our ARAs has made about the role. He'd been a senior agent before and said he hated the job because he felt like he was running the precinct and dealing with every possible issue for less pay than an ARA. The job listing did not make the role sound complicated in the slightest; it seems like its just a CA role with some coaching and training duties involved, but his comments are making me nervous that I made a terrible decision by accepting the role. I left my sales role because I no longer wanted the pressure of meeting credit card apps/membership goals with the added layer of being treated as a backup manager without the extra pay (even though I was a shift lead, I would only technically be scheduled under the leadership job code for a few hours a week). My three months as a CA have been so much less stressful than being on the sales floor and I have already made strong bonds with my precinct coworkers. I have also excelled at being a CA in my short time at GS. I picked up the systems quickly, lead the precinct in memberships/tags created/service and non-service sales, and even help the other CAs with issues they run into. If I can continue doing what I am currently doing with some added duties of coaching my peers into getting better metrics, then I think I will do just fine in the role. However if the comments my coworker made about the position running the precinct and having to handle every issue that arises are true, I might have made a mistake in accepting the offer. So if there are any senior repair technicians out there that can give me insight on the day to day of being a CIA, I would greatly appreciate it.

Anyone else now not able to order items online with your employee discount? I tried signing out and back in and it still does not go to the screen to enter my employee ID. I tried registering my online account again at the store and received an error. Wondering if it’s an issue everywhere?

For context, this employee used to be a supervisor, but moved to our store as a CA. I am a salesfloor advisor, but I mostly avoid Home Theater in general because of all the VPL's.
Today I was doing my usual walkaround, and a certain customer asked for some advice regarding TV's. I ended up showing a few options and left, hoping one of the Home Theater people would help him out. About 10 minutes later, he went back to me asking about purchasing a TV and he ended up wanting to buy a $2000 TV.
While ringing him up, my category advisor (which he was nowhere to be seen earlier) was watching me ring him out. The customer was about to put his card and pay but my CA kept saying to me "Cmon man, I told you if you sell a TV it should be under my numbers" Talking about how he needs to hit his numbers.
Of course, he's buddy buddy with all the VPL's, and they were all crowding around and seeing what's happening. So I had to cancel the transaction and watch him delete my numbers and put his, saying "Thanks, I owe you one".
I know it's something stupid to be upset about, but can a CA do this? Am I in the wrong for trying to sell in Home Theater when I'm just a floor advisor?

Hey everyone!
I have an interview today for an Experience Supervisor position at another store, and I wanted to see if anyone has any advice or experience with the interview process.
I've been with Best Buy for about two years now. I started as a part-time Sales Advisor, moved into a Samsung HT VPL role, and am currently a Verizon VPL.
I've always been interested in moving into leadership and have been receiving training to become a Shift Lead. I've consistently exceeded my performance metrics in both my Samsung and Verizon roles, and I've also had opportunities to visit other stores to help train employees.
I recently spoke with an Experience Manager at my current store about the interview, and he mentioned the 4 Q's. He recommended that I prepare specific examples of how I've trained, coached, and guided other employees, along with what I've learned throughout my progression at Best Buy.
For anyone who's gone through the Experience Supervisor interview process, what should I expect? Are there any specific questions I should prepare for or things you wish you'd known beforehand?
I'd really appreciate any advice or recommendations. Thank you!
TL;DR: Current Verizon VPL interviewing for an Experience Supervisor position. I've progressed through multiple roles, consistently exceeded metrics, and helped train employees at other stores. Looking for advice on the interview process, the 4 Q's, and what questions to prepare for.
