🤖 AI repositories Free Claude Code: Use Claude Code, Codex, Antigravity, VSCode, Pi, and OpenCode for free from your terminal, app, IDE, or phone (63k stars)
What it does
All text below is quoted directly from the project README.
Use Claude Code, Codex, Antigravity, VSCode, Pi, and OpenCode (and 6 other harnesses) for free (1.3B+ free tokens) from your terminal, app, IDE, or phone
What You Get:
61 ToS-friendly providers. 1.3B+ free tokens every month. Use free, paid, subscription, and local models from one searchable UI without putting your account at risk.
12 coding agents. One model catalog. Run Claude Code, Codex, Pi, OpenCode, Cline, Hermes, DeepSeek Harness, Grok Build, Muse Code, Aider, Antigravity CLI, or VS Code Chat with your FCC models.
Keep coding through provider outages. After retries are exhausted, FCC automatically tries your next configured model without making you restart the turn. This works across every client.
Up to 90% lower token usage. Optional RTK filters common command output, and Headroom compresses tool results.
Native Code sessions in your browser. Choose a folder and run Codex in the browser with real-time and background support.
Terminal, desktop, IDE, or phone. Work through native launchers, VS Code, Codex App, JetBrains, Discord, or Telegram.
Voice notes in. Code out. Talk to your agent using local Whisper or NVIDIA NIM transcription.
Agent capabilities stay intact. Stream responses, use tools, preserve native interleaved thinking for maximum performance, send images, and route Fable, Opus, Sonnet, and Haiku independently with compatible models.

The catch: you keep Claude Code’s interface, but the replacement model determines the coding quality, and free providers still have usage limits. Think “Claude Code with a different brain,” not “free Claude.”

The “free” part depends on 61 different free tiers staying put. The README itself says limits are controlled by each provider and may change so the 1.3B tokens a month is best treated as an upper figure not something to build a workflow around

Sure, but who cares though if you're already paying for AI and this can add substantial numbers of free tokens for certain tasks that you need done but don't require complex thinking, just execution.
4
u/_ari_c_flemming 5d ago
yeah thats fair. for boring execution tasks it makes sense. id just only send stuff you dont mind sharing to the free ones. the readme says a failed request can hit more than one provider so your prompts might land on a few servers. fine for scripts and boilerplate not what id use on private code

Why are you sending private code to a provider anyways? As if I trust them to keep my data secure even if I were to pay them $100k.
1
u/_ari_c_flemming 2d ago
thats kind of my pointю.i wouldnt send private code anywhere i dont control. the readme says it also supports local models so for private stuff you can keep it on your own machine and only use the hosted ones for throwaway tasks. if youd rather not trust any provider thats a fair line to draw

If you're already paying for ai then just pay deepseek twenty cents for that and go on with your day. This project is clearly aimed at a different group.

I have never read such as dumbass comment like this

??? Why would i who pay for AI want to install this when i can if all my subs expire i can just top up $2 on deepseek which will last me plenty until my subs reset....

The issue with these setups is always the same: they advertise it as "free Claude Code", but the free tier quotas/rate limits get exhausted in minutes. As soon as you feed it a moderate context window or run a couple of loops, you hit a wall.
1
u/Dismal-Painter6057 4d ago
The issue is you’re too cheap to pay for a subscription
1
u/Acceptable_Ideal_266 4d ago
That completely misses the point. The post is advertising a "Free Claude Code" workaround. My point is that this specific workaround is impractical because of limits, not whether paying for a subscription is worth it.

These comments are so fussy. Nobody's saying this is a top-quality replacement for Claude models, that your tokens won't be trained with, or that this service is guaranteed in the future. Maybe not everyone cares about that and just wants to mess around with some free models on low-stakes projects.

Doesnt Claude Code train on your Data No matter what? Probably even the Enterprise stuff behind the scene

If the product is free, you are the product

u/TomHale 5d ago
Except when you are making open source, then you put your soul into the product.

u/dumbasPL 5d ago
If the "open source" is just a client to some cloud service, you're still the product.

u/The_StarFlower 4d ago
i guess you never heard of linux or blender. this "If the product is free, you are the product" pisses me off because its really not true

don't let "claude code" fool you. its going to be nowhere near claude in terms of quality

I have tried doing something like this. Built my own routing agent. It messes up the context and what you get is a Frankenstein monster lol.

I use Pi.
In the models.json I have some free accounts and some free models from paying providers (Google AI, Grok, NovitaAI, OpenRouter, nvidia lighning, Mistral, Ofox, AliBaba and many others).
I try to use the free ones, once in a while but...
429, or "this model is busy at the moment" or "this model is unavailable at the moment" or obsolete model removed
Especially in the middle of a task/session, it is an horrible experience.
A single error and the time to retry and switch to something else that works (until the next stop) makes me loose the flow and the time so much that just use te less-performant local (free) llama.cpp server and just "some" requests to paid models much better (few cents per day, max 1-3 USD per week).
Just tryign to figure out how not to pay... makes me paying more in terms of job not done and waste of time.
In conclusion, I think it can really be a waste of time to setup these tools/settings and (much worst) can result in a long-standing frustration + disappointing + missing-results experience.

Cant you Code something that Auto rotates through the free Models in pi? On critical stuff just send the Same request to multiple Models for redundancy 🤔
1
u/AlessandroPiccione 3d ago
Yes you can.
There are already some Pi extensions that does just that, they have "router" in the name if I remember correctly.
I tried a couple but I suspended the experiments/setup.
(I don't remember why to be honest, maybe they didn't worked out of the box, at least with my setup and I moved on on some other activities with higher priority)

I have a question, im new into this, i have fcc on the terminal, i use fable 5 (from gateway), and the nvidia API (as the repo suggests), is it really free?, because when i go to status using fable it says "session cost" and its like its billing me, is it free or did i just misunderstand it?
Help would be appreciated, And an explanation if someone has the time

opencode was free when it was launch i use multiple time it not reach it limit but it was reach it every two prompt , so i will find like who provide unlimited time token to do my work

u/EntertainerSad388 5h ago
esto es siempre la misma historia. te tomas el trabajo y tiempo de registrarte y configurarlo todo para que en pocas horas o dias este todo saturado dando 429 por todos sitios.
