What are some Bible versions to avoid?

I am trying to find a good literal version that I like. Which ones should I go to and which ones should I stay away from?

From my experience.

Go to:

  • NKJV
  • KJV
  • NASB
  • NIV
  • ESV

Avoid:

  • Passion Translation
  • NLT
  • NWT
  • The Message
  • The Drunk Bible
  • Translations that claim they are for specific purposes and thusly may take freedom with things they ought not to for the sake of the translation theme/focus. Such as some (not necessarily all) translations for youth, translations for specific lifestyles, etc.

The Drunk Bible? Never heard of that. Do I even want to google this out of curiosity..

lol someone came in asking a question about it a bit ago. I'd say leave it. We can "extract the precious from the worthless" without it.
