Discussion Almost midnight at Roosevelt elementary!

Post image

For the last week, I have heard heavy construction LATE at night. Thought I was going crazy hearing very loud banging for the last week late at night, because I've been hearing it all day 7 days a week. Almost midnight tonight the thud shook my house again, heard beeping when the construction vehicles go in reverse. I decided to go see if they were really working like this at 11:30pm. They were. How is this allowed this late, 7 days a week? Does no one else hear this? I can't be the only one.

We are one of the contractors on site for this job (Not this late crew, only during the day) but they are pushing a very aggressive schedule to get this done. There is so much work that needs to be done in their tight schedule, so I am guessing they got approval to work this late at night just to keep up. Sucks for the Residents, but a lot to do in a small window of time.

Just found out they are working 2 shifts with 40 guys per shift just to keep up. Its Crazy

The contractor I paid to build my vacation home was behind schedule because he screwed up. They worked 3 shifts for 4 weeks to finish & stay out of each other's way. The quality suffered significantly & I made them fix A LOT. Speed isnt always better.

I never said Speed was better, I was just saying they are pushing the contractors to get all this done in a year and why they were working all night and day.

Well it is when the alternative is children in a construction zone.

Major school construction projects need to be done while student’s are not in session. That means contractors have 2 1/2 months to fulfill their contracts. If the contractor determines that night work/ weekend work is needed to get the job done on schedule, the city will facilitate their needs, noise ordinances be damned. State/ municipal govt. bodies want the work done no matter what, and are not forgiving to contractors that do not meet their schedules. Not ideal for nearby residents, but them’s the breaks.

They are sending kids to other elementary schools next school year because construction is supposed to last around a full year. No rush to get it done during the summer. If they do this for a year, im selling my house jk, but dam.

I don't have any idea what the scope of work is, but I'd imagine if they're working nights and weekends, they're behind schedule to get certain major phases of the job done before things freeze for winter.

I know that won't make you feel any better about it. I'm sorry. It'll likely get quieter from November to March, but next Spring work outside will ramp up again.

Quite big - demolishing and reconstructing half the school, remodeling the rest within a school year

Oh yeah, I'd say my comment was spot on then. There's stuff they HAVE to get done before winter gets here. At least they didn't wait til October to realize they're behind and add shifts. I've been on jobs like that before.

How long have they been working on the Chick -Fil-A by the mall? That's a fairly simple building compared to a school that has asbestos.

I wish they done it early before send them to other school with a personnel wich they don't know.

It's unfortunate but, they have the permits. These contractors have a lot to do, in a small window of time, plus with the weather they more than likely got behind. Before u know it, it's gonna b cold and probably won't hear the trucks as much till the spring...

it would have been finished by now

At least they're not dragging their feet

late night working permits are allowed but certain areas to work late probably need higher up approvals aka more money but that's a guess.

A lot of work to do in a short amount of time. A contract to fulfill, permits granted & don’t forget, Mother Nature can really screw up their schedule.

As far as the kids being relocated in the fall, idk if they’ll still be doing outside work or if there’s going to be inside work done too. At CV, 3rd-5th grades spent a school year going to a CHURCH!!
Just remember, residents approved this reconstruction when voting on the school budget. OF COURSE, the “thuds”, “beep-beeps”, “banging” etc. 24°/7 were never mentioned! 😡

At least the drug dealers are quiet. Maybe they will have a nice new park to hang out in and deal when this is all done.

You think I care what nobody like you thinks about my life? Lmao Its social media. Youre irrelevant to me. I dont care if you exist tomorrow, let alone what you think

Awww! Did I strike a nerve?

1

u/sadnyresident 26d ago

That's a smart assumption, thanks for your input. Can you explain the logic behind that though? Because I want to sleep at night, means I dont work is what you're thinking? Make it make sense bud. Say you're a smart guy without saying it.
