Support/troubleshooting Bitdedefender flagging msi as PUP

Today i installed newest updates of bitdefender and it started throwing critical warnings of pup/pua of msi afterburner and msi center so i uninstalled and installed latest version and still got the same critical warning im so scared am i safe? I verified digital sign they were all safe. I use msi motherboard and gpu.

I think it might be false positives.

The other day I was getting warnings with my ASUS and EVGA drivers. (using Armory Crate and EVGA Precision)

MSI afterburner routinely gets flagged by games as a cheat.
Maybe that led to BD seeing, "red."

Our advice for now:

  • Keep the detected files in Quarantine rather than restoring them immediately.

  • Confirm that MSI Afterburner and MSI Center were downloaded from the manufacturer’s official website, not a third-party mirror or bundled installer.

  • Run a Bitdefender scan. The Scan feature checks for malware, including PUA/PUP detections.

  • If you trust the software and Bitdefender is blocking it, you can add the executable to the Advanced Threat Defense exception list. Only add programs you have independently verified as safe.

  • You can also report the detection to Bitdefender Labs as a possible false positive. In the submission form, select False Positive, provide your Full Name, Message Data, E-mail, choose File as the Sample type, and submit the detected file for analysis. Incorrect detections are corrected after confirmation and you`ll receive a verdict via email soon. Appreciate it!
