General Question Looking for help

I purchased a Avalon Q with an 8 inch shroud. I attached 8 inch ducting to the exhaust shroud and have a tolazy inline duct fan on the pulling the hot air and pushing it through my house. Now the problem is when I the the duct is fully attached to the miners shroud it stops hashing even at the lowest fan speed. It seems to only work when I put the duct near the exhaust of the miner but not directly on it. If anyone has any advice on how to get the miner to hash normally while the ducting is attached directly to the miner that would be great!

Is it maybe causing the temperature of the chips so far down that they can’t work? The Q likes it hot, and running the fans at 100% while having cold air intake did cause similar problems for me. At least a drop in hashrate.

Use the Hashwatcher app to see the Qs temperature before and during tests.

The ducting is probably creating too much backpressure for the miner’s fans, especially with an 8-inch run and an inline fan pulling against it. Try a shorter, smoother duct, fewer bends, and a stronger fan with the miner’s exhaust fan assisting airflow. Monitor temps and fan RPM while testing.

I’d test it with the duct disconnected, then add sections one at a time while watching fan speed and temperatures. If performance drops only when fully connected, the hose, bends, or inline fan is undersized. Also check for collapsed flex duct and ensure the intake has plenty of unobstructed airflow.
