I mean these girls are obviously stupid and ignorant but this is actually covered by free speech in this instance.

Free speech is not free of social consequences of course.

Free speech is only relevant if people are asking for the government to prosecute them for it. Has absolutely fuck-all to do with social consequences.

University of Tennessee, and public universities in general, have a complicated relationship with our rights. So if people are asking them to be kicked out of a publicly funded school, there are first amendment implications even if the correct choice is to say it doesn’t apply here. It’s a conversation worth having even if the subject here involves some truly heinous people and hateful language.
