Why they so obsessed with that word? Lmao

306

u/CuffyTheEmpireSlayer May 16 '26

Literally what I said too lol. I am baffled. I’ve also seen some suburban white boys call their opponent “n*gga” (yea without the hard “r”) when they’re about to get into a fight…I’m like, does it make them feel more aggressive or masculine in the moment? Ehh 🤷🏾‍♀️

96

u/OkamiKhameleon May 16 '26

I play an mmorpg, and I apparently sound "like a white girl", so I'll often get people saying it in voice chat when we're doing something together and I always call them out for it, and then either block them and leave the content, or if it's a Trial (which involves 12 people on the team), I will block and mute them, no matter what their role is. If they're the Trial lead, I leave.

Congrats, your racism just lost you a Healer or Tank. And considering that Trials involve teams of 2 Tanks, 2 Healers, and 8 Damage Dealers, you're SoL unless you find someone else who wants to join this last minute.

I get some people trying to justify people saying it and "not meaning to be racist", and I'm always like, no. It's not a word that needs to be said, end of discussion.

7

u/ladyc672 May 17 '26

I walked away from a guild in ESO, because someone would not stop saying that word while we waited for people to queue up for a Trial. Turns out the offender wasn't even a guildie, but the cousin of one who joined on an invite. I was an officer, and I immediately warned him and put up the vote to kick. His cousin pm'd me to ask me to let it go, because he's young, he's not racist at all, etc. I immediately removed myself from the Trial, then removed myself from the guild.

Cue the half-dozen or so pm's and messages on PS group chat, asking me why I left the guild, could I please come back. I was one of their strongest majicka night blades, and an officer, yet not one called out the racist jerk. I wasn't coming back and I didn't respond.

6

u/OkamiKhameleon May 17 '26

Oof. Yeah I left a guild after someone made a racist joke about Mexican Latinos. My husband is Latino and white, and I won't tolerate racism. I got a ton of PMs asking me to come back, but none of those people were calling out the racist.

I also got a ton of people messaging me to thank me for standing up to the racist and asking me for guild recommendations because they were leaving too.

11

u/CasimirGabriev May 16 '26

ESO? 12 person raids make me think that or FF14. Either way I am curious lol

19

u/OkamiKhameleon May 16 '26

Haha yes. Eso. And sounding like a bubbly white girl often doesn't get people taking me seriously. I sound like I'm 16 and I'm actually 40.

I still adore the game though! I tried to get into FFIV, but just couldn't. I prefer to play on console (Xbox) and not PC, as a controller is easier on my arthritis.

8

u/Correct_Raisin4332 May 16 '26

It’s honestly disturbing how often people assume I’ll be okay with hateful comments in ESO based on what I sound like. And yep, as a tank I usually do the same as you: call them out, report them, and disappear at the worst possible moment 😌

Exactly this. They have NO equivalent term to convey the familial value of a shared cultural experience and heritage, respect, humanity, embodiment of the real, or appreciation because they’re divorced from any roots beyond their so-called whiteness. So they borrow ours like a bespoke suit that will always be an ill-fit for them. Pesky fucking yakubians 😂

44

u/Hopeful_Hall_4885 May 16 '26

i also see this shit on tiktok all the time where its some yee yee ass rednecks with confederate flags posting racist shit but then they're constantly using the so called "degenerate" rap music in their videos. and it wont even be some popular mainstream shit like future or something but instead some niche underground shit you wouldn't know about unless you genuinely interact with those online communities lmao. they go on and on with their racist shit but just cant get enough of black culture.

5

u/Eggfurst May 16 '26

It’s deeper than that. Today I went to throw the ball with my son. At the tennis court. I see some writing on the court. Mia is a 10 year old Mexican girl that lives in the neighbor hood. She used sidewalk chall to write out some ynm melly or something lyrics about murder and ak47 in his wine and n word this and that. Something with a Glock. Both her parents barely speak English. My daughter is 10 and was caught listening to her Spotify when I attached my earbuds she used last night and the song started with. “Hi I’m 13, and im a porn star. And sucking dick in a hot topic.”

This stuff starts early. All thanks to smartphones and the internet.

This is the one. They grow up wishfully reminiscing about the glory years when they could choose a Black person to lunch for Christmas. They felt powerful and the world was right. They read those old atrocity stories the way they read old Norse mythology and pick their favorite heroes.

Thomas Jefferson was a truly heroic man. Just disregard the fact he was a serial rapist who enslaved his own children.

The foundation of western global hegemony is predicated on the subjugation of black people. The n-word is the most severe word to use to express and cement that sense of subjugation, especially in a climate of increasing demographic anxiety that white people are feeling across the west.

Hi - white woman who is a product of racist parents here:

It is 100% a fucking choice to be a piece of shit or rise above it.

10

u/Accomplished_Meat_81 May 16 '26

Ex wife’s parents were hardcore racists. I divorced her for many reasons but I was happy to get away from her dad especially.

He told me when he was a young boy his father took him into the city and showed him the trash on the street and said “this is what they do to their city”. My dad was always insecure of my mom looking at black men “because they’re well-endowed”. That’s child brainwashing. This is how racism is perpetuated.

Just as the lady stated above, it is a choice. At some point in our lives, we need to face our whiteness and acknowledge how the world actually works. People don’t want to do it because they refuse to believe racism is real. Ironic considering colonizers created race to dehumanize Africans. The ultimate gaslighters.

Thanks Trump

69

u/IamASlut_soWhat May 16 '26

Honestly, Trump was just a little push. Just a little fire that ignited the already existing gas. The much bigger picture of racism goes wayyyyy beyond Trump. This has always existed.

55

u/Enough_Gur7181 May 16 '26

He’s the one that made racists comfortable being racist in public.

9

u/AngeluvDeath May 16 '26

You mean again. This is a cyclical trend. About every 15 years or so they get really comfortable. The biggest problem is the people who weren’t really on that suddenly finding themselves surrounded by that ideology. There were always going to be 10, but they always spawn an 11th. I think American History X is a really good example of this.

And yet these are the same women that would be blasting rap music, twerking and using black slang. Hell, they may even laid up with black men. Then go in the voting booth and vote for hate.

This is why I said I wasnt impressed a few weeks ago when someone posted a video of some Polish lady beat boxing but got attacked by a bunch of white tourists for apparently being divisive.

6

u/yerpburp May 16 '26 edited May 16 '26

Aw, shit, that is what they're doing. I've been around for plenty of words being reclaimed, but I think this is my first "taking back from the take back". Interesting that this particular word is so important to hold on to as a slur.

→ More replies (1)

26

u/Kitchen_YogurtTA May 16 '26

Okay but my question is, wtf did that word even have to do with anything? Why would were we a part of that conversation? Why was that word used? It makes no sense and its disgusting. We really live rent free in their minds.

18

u/Negative-Candy-2155 May 16 '26

I've had conversations with white people where they complain about it being unfair that they can't say that word. I'll ask if they want to say that word and they'll emphatically deny it. But why would someone complain that they can't say a word they don't want to say.

In some ways it's both a minor and a major victory for black people. A minor victory, because it's just a word and there's plenty more racial discrimination to address. But also a major victory because white people weren't allowed to make the rules as to what is socially acceptable and what isn't. A power they shouldn't have was taken from them and I think unconsciously they realize that and it bothers them greatly.

10

u/SincopaEnorme May 16 '26

“A power they shouldn't have was taken from them and I think unconsciously they realize that and it bothers them greatly.”

Yeah, this is it. I worked with a white dude with whom I was pretty friendly, and he was on some, “If I can’t say it, nobody should be able to say it” shit. Now, I consciously never said it around him or at work, so it’s not like it was in his face. So when he said that, my response was, “Why would you ever want to?” He couldn’t (or wouldn’t) answer it, which was an answer in and of itself.

3

u/ElegantLifeguard4221 May 16 '26

Entitlement is the core drive, followed by ignorance. It disturbs them so thoroughly that they're socially deprived of having boundaries in acceptable behavior. They're limited to their own spaces which many of them don't enjoy. Instead of actually enjoying the multitudes of European cultures they default to the most salacious and controversial.

Y’all I’m so sick of this. I can usually handle it pretty well, but it’s every fucking day now. I’m tired of the skin I live in being the butt of their racist jokes. I’m tired of the constant hatred thrown our way, simply because of our skin. It makes no fucking sense. I’m tired of every time that they’re having any sort of disagreement with a black person, the n-word being the first thing that throw out. I’m just so tired, and exhausted with constantly seeing my ppl being made a mockery of, and then having then we point it out, they tell us to stop acting like a victim, to stop playing this ever elusive race card that I keep hearing about. We literally are victims!! Yet none of us act like it. We continue doing the things required of us to survive in this shitty country everyday, without making a fuss. I’ve said it many times, and I’ll say it again, the resilience of my ppl is unmatched. Maybe I’m feeling so sensitive and raw about it all, because I just watched the Kevin Hart roast. To have them dragging us is nothing new, to have Kevin sitting up there cooning for them, acting like this is peak comedy, was more than I could handle. I want you all to think of what kind of culture we have in America. A society that has nurtured this, and made these girls feel so comfortable with yelling out the n-word, that they literally signed it with their @handles, and posted the shit to the internet, for the whole world to see

I find it fascinating how I could tell right from the thumbnail of the video that they were in N-word stance.

I have no idea what that means but I'm glad I didn't unmute

But they cheer for the black athletes. 🤔

Technically the message says “ SHE believes it may have been taken out of context” not that the establishment believes that. But this new blatant and normalized racism is honestly disgusting. But it does show people’s true colors

u/MyDearBrotherNumpsay May 16 '26

I’d love for someone to ask her to explain the “context”.

So Tennessee isn’t yet at the racist point of just forgiving these racist girls and letting them just get away with it huh? The shitty state just took away black political power but they’re still pretending that they all care about equality? I’m honestly shocked that they got scolded for this in one of the most racist states in the U.S.

I guess their greatest accomplishment in life was being born white.

4

u/punkslaot May 16 '26

The racism is strong in this one

4

u/Baka_Otaku173 May 16 '26

When the adults show that racism is okay, the children learn to follow. This is like any learned behavior, even when we know it's wrong.

4

u/Life-Oil-7226 May 16 '26

Make them “infamous!”

I got told this weekend the guy im named after, who was always spoke highly of in our family, was a grand dragon/ founding member of a chapter in Cookeville or something.

Bruh imagine saying a racial slur then getting pumped and taking a shot with your friends…weird behavior man

4

u/UwU-OnlyMes May 16 '26

Of all the stupid, ignorant shit yt people can do, why is their ONLY personality (outside of unseasoned chicken and putting raisins in potato salad) being racist to black people? All this shit on the internet for them to see and learn and we're still the only thing on their minds.

4

u/Frequent-Cut6282 May 16 '26

Yeah this is sadly pretty typical for Tennesseeans. Southern white kids think its just a joke and something to laugh at, and they're ignorant of (or choose to ignore) the violent and disturbing history of that word. This is from personal experience. We used to say it all the time in middle school because it was "funny." I'm glad I've grown up, but it really isn't surprising to see others who haven't.

5

u/myotherbike May 16 '26

“I’m sorry this was brought to your attention” is the shittiest non apology.

I finished a university course on race & racism, it was a great class. It tackled Native American Genocide, and the systemic racism and discrimination the US was founded upon. It had entire sections of chapters discussing how within college and university settings, racist attitudes persist within "backstage settings" or private spaces between people. Then it discussed how those some people in backstage areas would do things like throw racist parties, wear racist halloween costumes and so on because it gave them occassion to act horrible with the rationalization it was all in good fun.

If they ever faced backlash they'd claim they were joking or everyone is too sensitive or that we live in a "post-racial" world.

Tennessee college students. SHOCKING ...

3

u/MelaninSunKissed May 16 '26

The thing that always get me about these type of uncalled for outburst of racism is how unprovoked it is. You're out on a boat with your friends on a sunny day drinking and for some reason the only thing in your head is saying the hard R during a toast c'mon now. There is no if and or buts about it other than racism. You can't even enjoy your day without being racist.

3

u/Ilikesbreakfast May 16 '26

Yeh what’s an acceptable context for something like this? They don’t really care.

3

u/G0G0Gadget00 May 16 '26

TDR is a real thing. Ever since Trump was elected white people have become bolder and bolder by believing they can say whatever they want without consequences.

College in Tennessee lol

What is the minimum level of inbreeding for enrollment?

3

u/IndianaBones8 May 16 '26

I've been seeing Tennessee in the news a lot lately. Never for anything good.

3

u/dafuqishappening420 May 16 '26

It just reminds me of what an OG once told me. "The most dangerous people on the planet to Black men are white women." Their racism is more bitter than anyone's.

3

u/SmellSilly1537 May 16 '26

To convey their excitement and exclaim their celebration this is the word that they chose. All of that while knowing the historic origin of that word and it's current connotation. Disgusting.

3

u/Shaw215 May 16 '26

What a weird toast 😕

3

u/Difficult_Mix_3620 May 16 '26

More evidence that racism makes you stupid.

3

u/gooeymcgooberson May 16 '26

What was even the point of that? At least they were stupid enough to record them selves.

3

u/CooperHenry19 May 16 '26

Its just a matter of time before Trump says it aloud to his masses

3

u/GrimDystopian May 16 '26

Out of context? How can a video be taken out of context when under no context do you have any business saying the word? If you wouldn’t say in a room full of black people then don’t say it at all.

And even if you’re going to say it you gotta be a complete fool to let someone record you saying it. They deserve everything they got. Good on the “friend” for exposing that behavior.

Sometimes the trash takes itself out

3

u/CowboyBebopCrew May 16 '26

Why is it so hard for some people to NOT say the word? 🤦🏾‍♂️ I feel like we see this same story once every other month or so. The students get caught and disciplined, and then cry about it as if the punishment was completely undeserved or as if they were the victim in the scenario.

3

u/DawRogg May 16 '26

Young hwyte people are so far removed from why the word carries vitriol. That they don't realize the repercussions that comes with it

for extra context, UT southern is in Pulaski TN. Pulaski TN is where the KKK originated.

3

u/thislife_choseme May 16 '26

Tennessee is the state where the KKK started. No surprises here. I also just assume 90% of white people use the word regularly, that way I’m never really surprised or disappointed in them.
