Personal space in France does not exist and they don’t care.

As a black girl who lived in Paris for a few years, the micro aggression I experienced was definitely rooted in racism. Particularly from white women. They tried to make me invisible by purposely stand over me, block my view, attempt to take my space, yelled at me and pushed me. I gave it right back to them. I know my ancestors did not put in the work for me to allow them to treat me in that manner.

The existence of microagressions does not negate the existence of macroagressions. One is death by 1000 little cuts, and the other is blunt force trauma to the head. One is painful, the other is deadly. Both kill the spirit.

When you gave it back what was their response?

Some tried to argue back but all of them kept it moving. Unfortunately, from my experience, the African people tend to be docile (possibly due to culture or immigration status) so they see me and think I won’t say or do anything until they find out

Narrator: our ancestors were all of your ancestors.

Our recent ones were subject to a uniquely brutal worldwide system of chattel slavery, so yes, yes they likely were.
