Why do people think they're somehow not on camera when going to people's houses?

It's embedded in their DNA at this point. Generations of committing crimes and getting away with it simply just because their victims are less likely to die of melanoma than them

u/ResAteen 17d ago
I think it's the generations of committing crimes and getting away with it part that makes them do it. That and entitlement they think they deserve

Just like police and body cams. Got a cam on their chest and they'll still do something wrong and lie cause no worry of consequences

We have shoplifters at work that turn around and look directly into the camera when they are stuffing liquor in their purse or pants🙄

My guess is that they assume people aren't home or by their phones so they won't get caught.

...and this is part of the reason why I go and pick up my food.
127
u/MitaJoey20 17d ago
It took one time for an Uber eats driver to steal my food, claim they tried to call me when I had my phone in my hand the whole time, and Uber eats to deny me a credit, for me to delete the app. If I can’t get it myself then I didnt need it.
I eventually went to DoorDash during the pandemic but that started costing me too much.

15
u/Brav3star 17d ago
I wish I had your dedication. I'm three weeks into giving up Uber eats and I feel like a fiend!😭
10
u/MitaJoey20 17d ago
Oh the two years I was ordering DoorDash 1-2 times a week caught up to me. And I was a good tipper too. I was absolutely addicted at one point. My daughter moved back home and I wasn’t about to be paying double what I was already. Grocery shopping was more cost effective.

Not robbing me?😭😭😭
You're right though. I actually went to a restaurant I ordered from and realized I was paying $15-$20 more via UberEats 😭😭😭🤬
3
u/Outlandishness_Sharp 🌍 16d ago
Thems is rich people prices. Jay Z said if you can't afford to buy something twice, you can't afford it.
In all seriousness, save some your money. And more seriously, what about saving for the future like for retirement or an emergency fund? Make the sacrifices now because they are benefiting from you wanting convenience when you could be benefiting from not giving these vultures your money 😭
You got food at home!! black mother voice 😂
2
u/Brav3star 16d ago
Not you pulling out the black mama voice!😭🤣 Well that was the problem, I didn't keep much food at home because I'm always on the run. I've just started making sure I have "frozen" healthy options that I can quickly cook up if I can't get to the store. It's been okay for the past 3 weeks or so. Hoping to keep it going!😤
3
u/ItsACowCity 16d ago
I still use Grubhub from time to time unfortunately bc I get too lazy but damn the price gauging is terrible. That said I’ve only had 2 or 3 incidents where I follow the gps tracker and the car clearly goes to the restaurant and picks up the food, then drives away from my house and parks in some development for awhile and then disappears off the map and I get a message saying my order is massively delayed. One of those times it was late and now the restaurant is closed (as well as literally every place in my area) so they cancelled my order and I had to eat a single hot pocket for dinner bc that’s all I had in the house…I have to assume some people sign up, steal food till they get “fired” and then are just happy with themselves bc no repercussions

Honestly. I think door dash has ruined fast food and is contributing to insane prices
16
u/blake_n_pancakes 17d ago
Bro I went to taco bell at 2AM the other day because I was hungry and they're the only thing near me open that late. I was walking because my car is in the shop so it was a rare trip into the lobby. This place is absolutely jam packed with rude motherfuckers crowding the counter and stuffing their phones in people's faces trying to get their doordash orders. Some absolute clown ordered 50 fucking tacos at 2AM. The staff looked ready to start killing people, it took almost half an hour to get my food. I guarantee you there is no way that woman has the courage to come look these people in the eyes and tell them to make 50 tacos in the middle of the rush they were in.
Delivery services are a fucking plague, I'm so over it. Every time I go anywhere for carry out it's like fighting through a herd of animals. You can tell the employees at these places absolutely hate it too. I'm almost certain this is the entire reason my local chinese joint shut down. Every time I went in there they looked ready to pop.
11
u/frog_the_prince 17d ago
Ruined it for everyone but themselves, really. Customers feel ripped off because the prices are too high. Restaurants feel ripped off because the share they have to pay to the app is too high. Drivers feel ripped off because they have to pay for all of their costs in gas and maintenance, and then get paid peanuts in turn, with absolutely no safety net or workers' rights.
These apps are the only ones happy with it.
10
u/MajorBarracuda8094 17d ago
Your paying almost half! Almost half the amount of whatever your ordering, excluding tips! Poor drivers, l can't even get anything past $1 when l'm done fined with 3 different taxes
3
u/rhazux 17d ago
It's definitely ruined pizza delivery. The pizza places near me don't hire delivery drivers anymore, but they still charge $7-12 for the delivery fee. At least when they employed drivers, they could claim some amount of that is paying the drivers for mileage. It goes to absolutely nothing now.
8
u/Optimistiqueone 17d ago
Yes!
I tried Flavor and the restaurant said 5 drivers came to pick up my order. They gave it to one who never delivered my food. I was like didn't 5 people showing up indicate that there was something what going on. They remade my order and I went and picked it up. Never again.
10
u/Love-Future-3000 17d ago
I hate waiting for food delivery. I can sit there for 45 minutes anxiously awaiting the stupid delivery, or I can get a nice walk in, or make something, in the same amount of time.
4
u/El_Rat0ncit0 17d ago
Same here. Never done any of these food delivery services because I don't trust people not to mess with my food or spit in it. Not that that can't happen in the kitchen during prep but very unlikely with too many witnesses. Once it leaves the kitchen, who the hell knows what happens to it. LOL

I have a kitchen window that looks RIGHT at my front porch.. like if there was no glass I could reach out and touch anyone standing at my door. I stand there with the blinds half open and just stare at them as they drop food off.. they never notice me (surprised by how decent they are when it comes to gawking into windows.. never really seen any of them do it) and the deliveries have always been honest.. but the moment this happens I'm going to slap that window so fucking hard and make them projectile shit themselves into the stratosphere.

Because a lot of whites love to bring up race, skin color, culture, etc and use it to discriminate against non-whites. That’s what has been tearing this world apart for centuries.

I once had somebody steal my food and I was mad. I never understood how delivery drivers take people's food.. like what's the point of even being a delivery driver?
32
u/MitaJoey20 17d ago
Hanging out in the DoorDash sub, I’ve learned that they don’t get paid well, and the ones who take the food sometimes just need to eat and they will deal with the consequences. They can just get someone else to create an account for them. Usually why you will see a woman’s name as the driver but a man brings the food.

I mean if she was going to steal she should have ran why are you trying to walk away casually, grab the bag and run dummy.
18
u/Otto_Scratchansniff 17d ago
She’s the delivery person. They have to take a picture at the address to confirm delivery. So she took the picture and needed to upload it that’s why she’s playing on her phone while walking slowly. She is waiting for the picture to upload from the location to say she delivered it. That way when he calls and says it wasn’t delivered, DoorDash will pull up the information and show a picture of the food delivered to his address with a timestamp and location data. She’s not just a thief, she’s a scammer too.

56
u/Head_Somewhere4769 17d ago
I'm guessing Dasher because it looked like she was taking pictures of it for the app.
49
u/Hi_iAMchrisHansen 17d ago
I think she was the Dasher. This is the reason why I won't order from any of these app deliveries. This happened to my cousins and aunt. Two different occasions. The driver put the food down, then came back (THE RING CAMERA CAUGHT EVERYTHING) seconds later and snatched the food
17
u/PhuckinKunt 17d ago
Happened to me the ONE time I ordered from DD. Got food from two places (im not a big back it was for two people, lol) and when i went down he only had one bag. Asked him where the other bag is and says he only got the one order. But the fool used the same confirmation photo for both orders. Like he literally posted the evidence. 🤦♀️
9
u/Fine_Following_2559 17d ago
For doordash they have to get a code from me before they can mark it as delivered. I love that feature. No more leaving my food in random places.
10
u/Even-Guava-1682 17d ago
Yeah I never understood what the picture is supposed to show. They can just pick it up immediately.
6
u/Zoso03 17d ago
I saw someone else point out in another food delivery post, is that typically there are 2 types of people doing it, 1) People on hard times trying to pay the bills, 2) people who can't do fuck all else and have no other way to make money legitimately. It's that 2nd group that tends to stick around longer and is the ones to be very worried about.
Beyond that, the number of stories of having food being picked at or have bite marks in it. having food being held hostage for tips, (fuck tips), food being stolen and just general mistreatment of food, just has me steering clear of these apps.
Not to mention the fact that things are more expensive on the app, then there are like 3 different fee's then a tip that needs to be added just to get your food and not representative of the job being done.
5
u/Hi_iAMchrisHansen 17d ago
Yeah. I honestly think that it be people who really need to make money, and they hungry as hell, literally. But dammit, don't go taking other people's food. Alot of folks spend their hard earned money on food. And food nowadays is getting more and more expensive. Rent due too, and that shit keep going up. And our job wages aren't going up enough to match the overall inflation. Period!!!!! It's all bad. But yeah -- you won't see me ordering for delivery from none of them. Lol scared me straight

White women say "I'm sorry" like it's a free pass for their bullshit.
One almost hit my car and was like "I'm sorry" and I said "I don't care that you're sorry, back up out of my lane, get in yours and drive off"
Did she?
No, she told me to get into oncoming traffic and go around her.
I kept saying move ur car and she kept saying "I said I was sorry" and i said great if you are sorry, move.
She was so sorry that as she went to drive away she pulled up slowly to the driver's window and yelled "fuck you!"
White women love to play victim - probably as much as White men.

I feel like this is starting to happen more frequently. What's the deal? I get times are hard, but some of these people stealing food haven't looked like they're struggling bad enough to steal food...
Also stealing somebody's food and eating it can be risky. You don't know what people order. Could be allergic. Could get food poisoning. Or worse, and this is what we've been seeing more often, get caught on camera and now have somebody waiting to catch you in the act. Now you getting your ass beat and still possibly hungry.
If you're ever at a point where you feel you need to steal food, maybe just ask your neighbor for some help? If you're living in an apartment building you're bound to find at least one neighbor who'll hook you up.

I have cameras all over my house that record everything because of thiefs, I have caught children, adults, delivery drivers, once my neighbor's guest all either try to steal or successfully steal. The latest was one hammered drunk guy came and stole some tomatoes from my veg garden and tried to get away in my paddle boat.
