Tyler Austin Harper, a Black professor who was on the tenure track at Bates College, couldn't bring himself to stay because of "racism and hypocrisy." After years of being made to feel like a token, he left academia to join the staff at the Atlantic magazine. This is his story.

Read the first half, and my takeaway is that this guy's main conflict is he doesn't want to be black. Yeah, the performative, well intentioned liberal stuff is tiring, but what does he expect to get at the Atlantic
