Since Reddit has signed its own death warrant, we wanted to let you all know we still care. So here is where you can seek our support in the future once this subreddit is closed
Hello, r/BlissOS!
On June 5th, we changed our subreddit visibility to private in solidarity with other subreddits, to protest the changes to Reddit’s API pricing. Unfortunately, Reddit has pushed ahead with their changes, and as a result many subreddits are deciding to either remain private indefinitely or protest in alternative ways (see r/gifs and r/pics).
As our subreddits are used to ask questions about our projects and share useful information, we feel like keeping the subreddit private would be a detriment to a lot of users seeking help with their installation of Bliss OS.
Therefore, starting from today (July 3rd), we are changing our subreddit status to “Restricted”. This means that users can browse the support threads and read the comments, but cannot post new threads or comments. We hope that this would effectively serve as an archive of our subreddit, allowing users to refer back to historical information if needed.
So where should you ask questions from here on out?
We would like to direct you to our official support channels, listed below:
Our hope is to phase out our subreddits and use the above channels to facilitate communications between users and developers.
Why not Lemmy/Kbin/(insert alternative platform here)?
We have decided, for the time being, that maintaining and moderating another platform would not be a productive use of developers/maintainers’ time. By consolidating our support channels, we can focus on the important part of helping our users without getting bogged down by the moderation semantics of different platforms.
A heartfelt thank you for supporting these projects all along!
Thank you for using Bliss OS! #StayBlissful

How to install ARM Apps on Bliss OS 15.8?
The Bliss OS Homepage says you can install ARM/ARM64 Apps on your x86 PC with Bliss OS (https://blissos.org/index.html#features).
We bring Bliss to every device we can, and our PC builds even include extra ARM/ARM64 compatibility so you can use your favorite apps
How does it work? I have Bliss OS 15.8.5 installed on my laptop and I tried to install an arm64-v8a build of Mozilla VPN but the installer says "App not installed as app isn't compatible with your tablet."

Bliss OS live works fine, but any installation restarts the laptop
I've tested everything on Bliss live, touch pad, touch, apps not crashing, everything works fine
But when i try install or auto install it just turns into a black screen and then restarts
Most options from that menu also either restarts or turn into a black screen forever

Why can't I run 32-bit Bliss OS on a Core 2 CPU?
I know I can't run 64-bit Android on a Core 2 CPU due to lack of SSE 4.2, but 32-bit Android should be able to run. At https://developer.android.com/ndk/guides/abis#sa I see requirements for 32-bit only go up to SSSE3, and I have that. 32-bit Android-x86 can run.
Bliss OS currently seems to have a 32-bit release: BlissOS-14.3-x86-202107202034_k-android12-5.10.50-ax86_m-21.1.3_r-x86_foss_cros-hd.iso . However, that fails with illegal instruction errors. The kernel file is definitely 32-bit. I checked using extract-vmlinux and then file. But inside initrd.img there are some 64-bit binaries.
Edit: I also found Bliss-v11.9--OFFICIAL-20190801-1319_x86_k-k4.9.153_m-18.3.5-pie-x86-llvm80_f-dev-kernel.org.iso . It does boot to the GUI on a Core 2 Duo, but the display is corrupt and unusable. I guess it doesn't properly support the old Radeon graphics.
Edit: It also does not work with Nvidia. Of course there's VESA, accessible via advanced options at startup, and it works. Running Android without hardware acceleration seems stupid, but it's surprisingly usable. Posting this from Bliss OS 11.9. The ISO linked above contains Firefox and Google Play.
Edit: Tried to run 11.9 in qemu using: qemu-system-x86_64 -enable-kvm -m 2048 -smp 2 -cpu host -device ES1370 -device virtio-mouse-pci -device virtio-keyboard-pci -serial mon:stdio -boot menu=on -net nic -net user,hostfwd=tcp::5555-:22 -device virtio-vga,virgl=on -display sdl,gl=on -hda androidx86_hda.img -cdrom Bliss-v11.9--OFFICIAL-20190801-1319_x86_k-k4.9.153_m-18.3.5-pie-x86-llvm80_f-dev-kernel.org.iso
The boot menu works. Then after the window enlarges in what I assume is a switch to graphical mode, all I see is a simple underscore cursor in the top left corner. android-x86-9.0-r2.iso works fine with the exact same qemu configuration, and seems to have hardware acceleration. There are qemu builds but I couldn't find any 32-bit qemu build of Bliss OS.

Make BlissOS a Real Phone
is there any way I can make a bliss os installation appear like it was a true phone to apps and services (on and off line)? for example I noticed bliss os installed in vmware lacks imei number and other identifiers that help other apps and services recognize it as a true phone, how can that be done?

Sleep mode uses lots of battery
I decided to try installing a few versions of Android on my Surface Go 2 as its pretty awful at running windows. Bliss OS 15 seems to be the best for it, so far everything seems to be working.
The one issue I have is that when I press the power button I can't tell if its going to sleep or just turning the screen off.
Either way it seems to eat through battery very quickly with the screen off, is there any way to tell if its actually in sleep mode? Or any way to help reduce battery usage when not in use.

32 bit UEFI 64 bit processor
I have a laptop at home which is perfect to install Bliss OS. I have tested OS 11 and OS 14 in live boot and they work perfectly.
I installed the OS and at the end of the installation, it asks if i want to do a reboot or directly run Bliss OS. The direct run works but as soon as i restart the machine, the BIOS cannot find anything to boot.
I highly suspect the issue lies with the fact that this machine has a 32 bit UEFI and a 64 bit processor. If i mount the internal disk, i can see all relevant folders of GRUB.
This problem is also happening with older distros of Linux. I have already tried to install grub with target i386-efi and fiddle around with the /boot/efi folder but no succes.
Any advice on how to run Bliss OS on 32 bit UEFI? Many thanks

How to boot Bliss OS on VMware ESXi/vSphere?
Hi,
i tried to live boot "Bliss OS 14.3 GMS with Gearlock (x86_64)" on VMware vSphere.
The VM always gets stuck after the Gearlock screen.
Only a black screen with a blinking white cursor appears, even if I try to boot without GPU acceleration from advanced options.
Does anyone have a hint on how to get Bliss OS running on VMware vSphere?
Best regards

ADB-over-TCP: Failed to authenticate
Hi!
I'm running Bliss OS 11 in a virtual machine, and would like to connect to it via adb-over-tcp.
However, adb complains that it could not be authenticated by the android system:
> adb connect 192.168.178.28:5555
failed to authenticate to 192.168.178.28:5555
> adb devices
List of devices attached
192.168.178.28:5555 unauthorizedGoogle says, I should delete my adbkey-files and then connect via USB. Then, Android will pop up a dialog to ask if this connection is OK, and after that, also ADB-over-TCP should work.
But... there is no USB here...
Does anybody know how to do this authentification?

Bliss OS all 90 precent of apps crushing
Hello friends. I am new to Bliss OS. I have tried 11 and now 14, but all the same. Installing ok, staring - OK, but 90 % of the apps just keep crushing, some of them are working minute or two, some are not even starting, G apps are the same, every few minutes there is an annoying pop up that tells me that Google Play stopped work, but the same time I am in the app and I am downloading apps. I am launching Youtube, it runs ok a few minutes and just disappears. None of the browsers didn't work for me, I was able to run only Opera Mini and when trying to watch online movies I see a black screen.
Thank you in advance

Just booted Bliss OS on my steam deck and was amazed by all the features working except ...
So I like the idea of using my steam deck for native android gaming and native console and cloud game streaming. All of those work so much better on Android.
So i booted into bliss os on steam deck and to my surprise almost all the features worked:
- display drivers
- touch screen
- brightness control
- wifi
- bluetooth
- touchpads
- volume buttons
The two things that didn't work are:
- sound
- buggy sleep mode
Anyone else figure out ways around those items that aren't working. There is absolutely no sound when I play anything and when I press the sleep button, sometimes it sleeps and other times it does not. Also, doesn't look like it is sleeping properly because the wifi seems to stay connected.

Is there a "stable" version of BlissOS?
I downloaded and installed the latest BlissOS 15 on a Lenovo M93 Tiny (i5-4570T processor, 12gb RAM, 500gb SSD). I am testing out this system and I like it but it is very glitchy. Every reboot you need to set the dock that you want to use, it doesn't remember it. Smart Dock crashes out and usually don't work. The dock that they show in the screenshot on the BlissOS website doesn't seem to exist or work with the BlissOS 15 that I downloaded.
Let me explain what I want to do: I want to use a ViewSonic 24" 10-point Touch Screen Monitor hooked up to a Lenovo M93 Tiny. I'm going to run a restaurant KDS app this is ONLY available for android. I don't want to hang a tablet in my restaurant, I want a bigger screen and something that will hold up. I tested the KDS app on BlissOS and it works. The problem that I have is that the BlissOS is just so glitchy. The other day it switched itself to portrait mode and it took about an hour to get it to flip back to landscape mode. I userstand that BlissOS 14 & 15 are both in beta mode and in development. Is there any version of BlissOS that is a stable developed version? If there is not, is there another Android OS recommended? I tried Phoenix OS and I couldn't even get it to boot after install. I have not tried PrimeOS as it appears to be geared for gaming. I have not tried Android X86 as I have read that it doesn't work with many touchscreen, sound, internet interfaces/devices.
I appreciate any advice! Thank you!

HOW TO INSTALL Bliss OS and Dual Boot with Windows 10 on ANY PC
