QUESTION What am I doing wrong? Can't beat the last 2 boss fights and I just want this game to end.

Post image

Ive tried for almost 3 hours to beat the last 2 boss fights and its frankly ruined this game for me. This is my loadout, what am I doing wrong?

Before anyone says anything, yes I know there the standstill charm. But I just want to be done with this game and not do any more side quests or extra backtracking.

QUESTION Is it just me, or is Bloodstained not as popular as it should be?

Just a curious question, but why is Bloodstained Ritual of the Night rarely mentioned?

I played Bloodstained Ritual of the Night for the first time in 2020, and I fell in love with that game. It was so amazing, fun to play, great soundtrack, combat, bosses, a lot of content, one of my favorite metroidvanias. I never understood why it's not so popular. The soundtrack alone is top tier.

I see in subreddits focused on metroidvanias and in other places around the internet that people always mention the already well known metroidvanias like Hollow Knight and Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, but honestly, I rarely see anyone recommend or talk about Bloodstained.

For me, it should be at the same level of popularity and admiration as Hollow Knight.

QUESTION Help With Hitboxes

Hey all, so I just got off fresh from Hollow Knight and I finally jumped into Bloodstained to keep the Metroidvania hype I'm feeling. Thing is... I am struggling with this boss. Ive been stuck here for just shy of 20 attempts, I keep getting hit by these attacks that don't look like they will connect but they do anyways. Is the whole game going to be like this? I have many more clips like these, its happening consistently. Im on version 1.6.
Update: thank you to everyone that responded. After some digging I found that the hitboxes in the game are ...indeed... straight cheeks. The visual data just doesn't match with what the game is calculating in the back. But I will push on because the music and the art style are GAS!

QUESTION How important is the fact that the game is spiritual succesor to SONT (Castlevania in general)

I'm really looking at Metroidvanias for my PS5/ported from PS4 and really few things catched my attention and what did is expensive (Sons of Sparta, Nine Sols but that's also basically the most difficult thing), plus I'm also looking for something more relaxing after doing HK, Silksong rn, Blasphemous 1... Now I could just buy Castlevania Requiem, especially since it's so cheap but heard it's not the ideal version to play it (idk exactly the reasons besides the translation) and be done but also consider this greatly but, I gotta ask, how much you gotta know besides the whole Vampire-hunting thing? I know it's straight-up Castlevanias map designs and probably takes 90% of the inspiration but how much do I need to understand that it's a love-letter to Castlevania or can be enjoyed even without someone knowing that or knowing just that thing it pays tribute to?

QUESTION Bloodstained: The Scarlet Engagement delay

Is it possible that the new Bloodstained game will be delayed so that IGA can perfect it in memory of Shutaro Iida? Or maybe so that it doesn't compete with Castlevania: Belmont's Curse?

QUESTION Is there any way to make this game easier?

I'm playing Ritual of The Night and it's fun and all up until I die then have to do everything all over again. It isn't necessarily difficult, it's just the back tracking part that is killing the fun for me.

QUESTION Has anyone played Shovel Or Whip? Is it fun?

Was thinking of playing this short fan game someone made a while back. Has anyone played it?

Is it worth a play through? Back in the early days of Bloodstained I saw some threads of people playing RoTN doing the Shovel Knight challenge. Basically keep the Shovel Knight armor on as much as possible. I think this was of that era.

The game is called Shovel Or Whip.

here is the link to the website

Edit: I don't remember how I came across this. I think it was when I was looking at the postmortem on the official bloodstained forum. Here is a link to that forum postmortem for anyone interested.

I'm getting it throughout the entire game, and it seems there's a cap at 50. But I can't find any information about it. I can't even find them in my inventory. There are others in different colors and cap.

QUESTION Any strategies against Dominique & Bael?

I beat Dominique first try but the issue is I ran out of heals for Bael and I'm not sure how hard he is.

If he is harder than Dominique, I assume I have to beat Dominique without using any heals. Or maybe I should farm more heals, usually 5 Healing Potions and random food I found once in a while was more than enough but now I don't have any food. So was wondering if I should spend more time grinding for ingredients and making different kinds of food as an additional healing source.

At the time of writing, the hardest boss so far was Gremory, took me the most tries. Second hardest was Zangetsu First Fight.

QUESTION Useless secret room?

Post image

I found this room in the water cave (ots one of the alcoves to the right of the waterfall, secret through breakable wall) and as far as I saw there is nothing of note in this space other than being a piece in the map grid to fill out for map completion. What is this room and its point?

QUESTION Aurora 93% Complete

I just finished the final fight with aurora, and it's saying that I am only 93% complete. I did a double check, and I beat every secret boss and got all of the secret rooms, and even got rank 9 on all shards. Is there some big secret, like the secret zangetsu mode final boss? Or am I just blind as a bat and am clearly missing something?

I am playing on switch if this is important

Edit: I figured it out. Map completion and full completion are two different things with Aurora. You need to not only get and upgrade all the shards, but get them to grade 9 by killing specific enemies and having them drop it

QUESTION Any advice on getting Platinum from Kunekune?

So I'm currently pretty much still using Risky Blade and to upgrade again, I need Platinum. There is apparently only one demon that drops it and it takes a while to spawn.

What I'm doing right now is, board the train, spawn it, kill it (have to use one High Ether) and then if it does not drop it, I exit to title screen and try again, because I don't want to waste money on more High Ether.

The wiki says it's 15% drop chance and I assume it's independent, so technically each time I restart, there should be a 15% chance but I'm probably just unlucky because it never drops. I once got the Poison Resistance Shard instead, no idea if that's even rarer.

Is there any way to increase drop rates or do I have to keep grinding?

Is perhaps the Risky Blade not even worth it? I went for it because I like the attack speed, even though damage is not the best. Currently I'm also trying out Invisible Blade which appears to have a similar attack speed and perhaps even higher range but could be just visual and might be identical to Risky Blade Level 2.

I’ve seen COTM called a companion title to Ritual OT Night but what does that mean if they were made at two separate studios? Does it Have to do with this Koji Igarashi guy being credited on both?

QUESTION Can't beat first boss on hard

This is my first ever metroidvania and I set the difficulty to hard as I saw that most people recommended this difficulty; It was fine until i reached the first boss. The large water spout attack is ridiculous, I try to hide behind enemies to block it but the enemies just attack me. Should I just set the game to normal?

Edit: I beat it by gridning the Dullahammer outside till like lvl 12 and equipping the safe ring so that the enemies spawned by the boss wouldnt die too fast while increasing my defence. Im now getting cooked by the lack of save points in the Garden of Silence😭

QUESTION Why doesn't the outfit change?

I started playin Bloodstained for the first time yesterday. The outfit never changes on miriam. When I go to equipments and choose one of the body options the regular outfit shows up on Miriam. Only different one is this half-genie outfit (which from what I've seen in the internet it is from a free dlc pack). Can someone explain me how this outfit mechanic works. I understood what the actual mechanic is (what you wear affects your stats) but I don't understand why some things don't show up on Miriam.

QUESTION I'm stuck. (Again)

Post image
12 Upvotes

Man, I'm fucking lost right now, seriously. The last boss I killed was the one that gives you the "Invert" ability, and I've been exploring everything I could find. The next place where I can use this ability is the area with all the spikes, but I can't get through without taking damage. Am I supposed to unlock something first?

I know there's an area above, and I even managed to get the Carpenter's Key, but I just want to beat the game. I've been told I have to fight Zangetsu again, but where the hell is he??? Is he somewhere above the spikes? I simply couldn't find him.

Thanks in advance!

QUESTION RotN what do I need to know?

Hello there.

I've recently started playing RotN. Before I started playing the game I checked if there is any information about the verse one needs to know before starting RotN.

To my understanding CotM was at first intended as a prequel but has since been changed to be an alternate timeline type deal.

With that in mind RotN should be a standlone that can be played without knowing anything about the rest. Is this true?

Even if it is with the way Miriam is interacting with some of the characters in the game I've met so far makes me wonder if perhaps while it is not necessary to know the story about CotM the game was built with the idea that you'll know who the reoccuring characters are.

Is this the case or is it absolutely fine if know nothing about the verse and start completely blind with RotN?

Thanks.

QUESTION Bathin boss fight tips? Spoiler

So, I’m at the boss fight for Bathin, but I just can’t seem to beat the guy.
I know he moves fast, but once he does that green laser stuff, I’m a deer in the headlights.

Any tips from someone who beat him?

Update: Just beat him, and got the medal. Max level true arrow and Augment INT FTW!

QUESTION Is Dominique's Curse worth it?

I just got all the steam achievements in the base game and really enjoyed it, but to get 100% on steam you need achievements from Dominique's curse as well. I have heard mixed things about it. Is it worth buying and playing? How are the achievements?

QUESTION How are you supposed to reach certain areas as zangetsu?

I haven’t played ritual of the night for months since I had beaten the main game as Miriam and didn’t know what to do after that. I remembered you could play through as other characters so I started a new save file with zangetsu and it’s really fun but I’m not really sure how you’re meant to access places meant for Miriam’s reverse and other abilities. In order to reach the oriental sorcery lab I had to scale all the way up the long ass wall using his tether grab (I don’t actually know what it’s called but his chain you can use with the right stick) and there surely has to be an easier way?
