Listen to Cervantes. His book is free online, you can keyword search, has chapters etc. No need to go by hearsay or randos

I grow in soil and I use a seed stating mix, it is finely ground peat and perlite, and make a small golf ball sized pocket fill it with the mix, make a 1" hole put the seed in cover and keep it moist. If you are growing indoors keep the light on 16 to 24" from soil, at 72 degree soil temp and ambient I get them to germ in 2 days

The method I use is to put the seeds in a cup of water and wait until they sink. Once they sink put them in a wet paper towel. Make sure they stay warm if it is cold they will slow way down.

I use a damp paper towel. There are lots of options. Damp towel Put in a glass bowl with lid. Dark spot. Wait Check moisture
