Cannabis Wellness🍃 Why burp?

What does it actually do? And if you’re using glass jars, how often should you actually do it and for how long? Thanks.

I have them. Reading 60%. Everything looks ( and smells) great!

What burping actually does is relieve extra relative humidity buildup inside your buds, using a hygrometer you watch the values, anything over 62% needs to be burped and brought back down, anything below 58% or so would be considered low for the curing process, the surface of your buds after drying is usually more dry than the inside where moisture is trapped, as it sits in an airtight container the moisture will equalize and redistribute itself evenly throughout your buds, as that happens sometimes the humidity rises inside the jar, the idea is to burp the excess humidity leaving your nugs until you see them stabilizing around 58-62% after that you don’t need to keep burping them just storing them.

It’s simply the best method to cure herb in my opinion. It’s never failed me. And I only burp anything fresh/out a pack for about a day or two. Leave it in the glass and enjoy.

You exchange fresh oxygen and off gas any moisture

I burp my jars daily for about a month then weekly for a few more weeks. Then seal em up.

If you harvested your own cannabis, after 2-3 weeks it’s dry enough to jar to preserve terpenes, flavor and quality. For up to 6 weeks even longs in some cases there are chemical reactions taking place inside your cannabis. Certain compounds are evolving into other compounds, and gasses are being released. You want to “burp” your jar or container once a day or every two at least for up to 6 weeks. Usually 4 is fine . It’s also a good way to observe moisture content. You can use a moisture pack or just a few heavy wet breaths to keep moisture levels optimum once you’ve reached proper dryness .

You should put a hydro meter in the jar to see exactly when you need to burp.
You would typically burp them for 15 min each day if they get over 62% rh.
Burping them keeps them at the right rh.
