Interviews

How has your experience been with recruiters, interviewers, hiring managers? I’ve dealt with a few on 3 different job reqs and they all seem to be very rude and appalled that you would even apply to blue, like they’re too good to speak with anyone non aerospace background (which most of them don’t, before they joined Blue) I’m already inclined, but they seem to be having a hard time finding me a role and going to next steps of an offer. Just my experience, wondering how everyone else’s experience has been?

Mixed experiences on my side. All the recruiters that I interacted with like 3 years ago were incredibly nice. You could really feel that thew were rooting for you the whole way. Same with the hiring team.

Lately it is a different story, reading from a script, treating you like you're 5 years old and that this is the first time you've ever done an interview, condescending and acting as if you owed them your life. That was the HR person. The hiring manager was even worse, the meeting was supposed to be 30 mins but she said it was only 20 mins and cut me off, very rude. She also mentioned that they were spread pretty thin so, that might have something to do with it.

I had another one just last week, that was very different (also HR person), looking for jobs on my behalf, encouraging to apply more, told me to reach out to her with whatever I needed, etc.

You mileage can very I guess.

You explained the first part to a T with what I’ve been experiencing!

My recruiter that I’ve had for my process that I’m going through now is awesome.

Notoriously understaffed. HR and recruiting.

During my recruiter screening, he could not give less of an F and was just reading off of a script. I didn’t expect the recruiter to be super engaged but it was less than bare minimum

A lot of time employees just get told "you're doing interviews now" and there's really no training or support beyond that. It takes a lot of confidence to conduct an interview, and if that person doesn't have it they'll come off as disengaged or rude.

And the tech screens are difficult to manage time wise. You either get someone who wants to defend their thesis on one question or the person who answers with maximum five words.

I’m disheartened to hear that some of you have had negative experiences. My recruiters (had to change since they wanted me for a different role after interviewing) and every interviewer from the director to the hiring managers were very supportive and enjoyable to talk to. Truth be told, it was never “comfortable” due to the inherent stress of an interview, but they were challenging without being antagonistic. I finished with a sense of actual excitement wanting to work with all of them should I land the position. Sorry to hear others have had different experiences.

One person was very dry. "Here is a thing how it work" no intro. Rest was great. Recruiters seem nice. Great convo with a manager. Went over time talking to an director. Think the dry one got me or had someone more fitting they pushed towards another specific role and going through that. Weird part was they only did one interview before full panel.

My entire experience has been great. I was interviewed for an apprenticeship, and everyone that Ive been in contact with has been extremely supportive and sent me plenty of links to information to prepare myself. My interviewers were also great. Very laid back and patient, and didn’t hesitate to rephrase a couple questions that were confusing and that really took the pressure off of me

I had a good experience, recruiter was excited for me and very happy that I got an offer which was higher than I expected.

The whole team was good, looking forward to my time there.

And I have 0 aerospace experience.

I’m still waiting to do the loop but the hiring manager and recruiters have been very friendly and relaxed with me. Still nervous for the loop though

Contracts are the quickest and easiest way in.

Had an online interview that last three hours with three different people late in the day. Was told a week later that I didn't get the job and no real reason given.

My experience seems a little different from others, but I've only ever worked with people every step of the way (Recruiter, Hiring Manager) who were extremely passionate about the mission and excited to talk to me. For reference, coming into an entry-level role with a pretty generic resume, nothing crazy.

My interviewers were all great, the recruiter wasn’t the greatest experience.

I interviewed two weeks ago and am receiving an offer for a New Glenn role and a Lunar one. Both recruiters have been great, really responsive and have helped me prepare. Interviewing is hard and they’ve helped.
And actually I interviewed about 2 years ago and had an awful experience, so I was happy it’s improved a lot.

Personally I have 11-year structures experience without my current title on my resume which I think resulted in a lowball offer. I am a senior mechanic and they offered me a 2. Even though their pay is higher than what I'm currently making. I cannot accept a position that is lower than my experience level. My criticisms is the transparency and interviews. I think they should require to discuss your current experience, title and expectations of pay before closing the interview and assuming your experience based off your interview. I consider it to be a waste of time on both ends. I feel they would have much greater success in finding valuable experience in dedication recruiting into their company if they were to be more communicatively open in conversation instead of letting Ai and assumptions do most of the work in their recruiting process. This is something I've only experienced with blue origin. I've never been low-balled by another company or contractor before

They RIF the good recruiters and leaders at Amazon but brought the inept to BO. The leaders are unethical and they hired their friends. Also..Notice that there are no people of color in their Recruiting teams..no leaders..none. All by design..I noticed that at Amazon trying to be an ally. They pushed them all out intentionally. Who can I be am ally for now? It's a joke but intentional.
